If it's not a gas leak then I'm totally confused as to what could have happened. It's like a bomb went off. 🤷 😮

Since gas has been ruled out, there's a chance that someone could have been cooking drugs and or even storing explosives for something.
There's plenty of other scenarios, like a mob hit, but those chances are much lower.

I am very familiar with the geology of southwestern PA. The gas company said none of their pressure regulators were showing excessive readings. This may be, and probably is true. However, utility gas lines are not the only source of natural gas in that area. Southwestern PA sits on top of world's largest natural gas deposit. I doubt this was caused by the current Marcellus and Utica Shale drilling boom. Those wells are highly regulated, mapped out, and are thousands of feet down. (1) All over southwestern PA there are old coal mines that will fill with natural gas. The entire area is mined out. This natural gas will fill the old mine, then find its way up through cracks and ancient fault lines to the surface. If you are an unlucky person who built a house over this, it very well may built up in your basement and house. Natural gas has no smell. The utility companies add agents to it so you can smell a gas leak, but actual natural gas is odorless. (2) There was an earlier natural gas boom in southwestern PA in the late 1800's/early 1900's. This gas boom tapped gas deposits closer to the surface trapped in underground sand deposits. It was before the PA DEP existed and was unregulated. Everyone from speculators to farmers were drilling for natural gas willy-nilly, then abandoning the wells when the flow slowed. No mapping, no regulating, no capping the well heads, and nobody really knows where all these old wells are. Many of these old gas sand deposits have been filling up with natural gas again after the old tapping stopped 100 years ago. Probably being fed from the huge shale gas deposits below them. There are thousands of these old wells all over the Pittsburgh area. You can literally build a new house over one and not know it. Same result as the above coal mine example if it leaks into your house. BOOM! The other thing is the coal mining and old gas well drilling took place outside settled areas (i.e. the countryside), EXACTLY where new suburban housing is being built in the Pittsburgh area now. The PA DEP is finding old well heads in new suburbs all the time and trying to cap them. It is literally a race against time before an accumulation of natural gas and more possible explosions occur.

This happened a year or two ago in my hometown of Lackawanna NY (outside of Buffalo). The house across the street from me exploded. The explosion took the life of an elderly woman in her 80's-90's. The damage was insane, I mean metal pipes went through peoples cars and everything. So much debris. My bedroom is in the basement and the power went out and there was a shake. When I tell you there were thousands, upon THOUSANDS of foot traffic up and down the street. I myself never went and looked. I just stayed on my property. Why? Well it is a very rare and strange thing yes. But as of now my Grandfather out lived all of his friends and no one really visits him, besides family. I would feel some type of way if thousands of random people came to my loved ones house, but did not when he was alive. May all the people rest in peace. It is very unfortunate and sad. My bro-in-law wanted to stop for coffee&donuts on the way so they did & the babysitter walked the kids to the bus stop. And....the house exploded! Thankfully everyone was out of the house & my husband was late! They will never say that all those houses in Plum are built over old mines & some even had the sewage just going into the mines. Other homes have exploded...in Plum & we were banned from horse riding in what was woods back then because there were mines. We were riding & a horse fell thru, the rider jumped off. Hours were spent trying to save the horse but she kept sinking & died there in a mine sink hole. I think it is probably methane from the mines. They built all those nice big homes right on top of them without addressing the possible problem.

We're very used to the trope of TV shows that simply have a scene where they test for a particular chemical and then they draw conclusions from that finding. It will take a lot of time to gather significant evidence from the site, categorize it, process it, interview witnesses, interview the relatives of the family where the explosion occurred, etc.

@@Shivaismysaviour If you're wanting "proof" of God, there is no physical proof. If you think that God should reveal Himself to you without you being willing to repent, you have the wrong mindset concerning God. You're expecting God to reveal Himself to YOU? Not gonna happen. It doesn't work that way. God makes the rules. WE don't. You seek after HIM. That's how it works. God is not obligated to reveal Himself to anyone. But there is a promise. If you truly seek Him with a sincere, honest and pure heart, He WILL reveal Himself to you. See, true Christians aren't Christians because of blind faith or intellectual belief. True Christians are Christians because they seeked after God with all of their heart. Wanting to love Him. To know Him. To serve Him. To submit everything to Him 100%. That's why we have a relationship with Him. Because He revealed Himself to us. I think the issue with most Atheists (not all but most) isn't a "lack of evidence" thing. I think the main issue is because they don't WANT God to exist. They simply don't WANT to submit to God if He is real. That would mean they would have to give up a lot of the things they are doing that is wrong. Let me ask you this, if Christianity were true, would you be a Christian? If God appeared in front of you and you actually DID believe and didn't just mark it off as an illusion, what would you do with that intellectual acknowledgement of God? Would you genuinely want to repent of your sins and fully submit to God? Would you give up your ways of living for God's Ways? To serve Him for the rest of your life? Or would you simply have the attitude of "Wow. You really do exist God. I was wrong." Then just go about the rest of your life and operate as if He wasn't real? If the answer is the second option, then God is by no means going to reveal Himself to you. He doesn't care about your intellectual belief. He cares about a relationship with you. He looks upon your heart and your motives. Most of the population have an intellectual belief in God but sadly, it doesn't go any further than that. Mere intellectual belief doesn't make anyone a Christian.

This would be disheartening if the home owner was constructing an actual bomb to influence terrorism for the near future.

God, there was a house that explored down the street in 2000 when I was 11. It was a gas leak, family was moving and the husband and dog stayed behind so the husband can clean and wife and kids stayed in the hotel.

Amateur blasting caps can do this sometimes. There's no smoke so, there's no slag to burn just massive energy discharged.

Yeah, if it's not a gas leak, then a bomb is the only thing that I can think of that would make that kind of an explosion.
