My health teacher told me about this and I went home and told my parents luckily they had one but it wasn't plugged in so my mom is going to go get batteries for it 👍
"If your appliance plugs into an outlet, then its electric". I was about the laugh at this rather obvious statement, but then I thought its not completely true. All the instant gas heaters I know also plug into an outlet because they need electricity to control the solenoid valves and light the gas up (no pilot light).
Absolutely, furnaces has electric going to them as well. This video is a little misleading, because we went from talking about carbon monoxide, to scratching the paper which the gas companies send out to customer to help them recognize gas leaks. Gas leaks and carbon monoxide leaks are different.
You want to know that best way to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, get your fuel burning appliances serviced yearly and ensure that you regularly test your carbon monoxide detectors, you only need to be exposed to 0.4% of carbon monoxide for 15 minutes to die so don’t take the risk get it serviced by a compotent engineer
you should show her some sources or evidence of all the effects of getting it since parents can be rlly stubborn when it comes to their kids trying to convince them (trust me ive been there) i got my parents to get the detectors since i dont want me and my parents to die lol
That should be your mothers job, not yours. Maybe show her you’re serious by giving her evidence and showing her consequences of not getting a carbon monoxide detector. It’s very important and should be installed in every house.
1:57 - Not true! Carbon monoxide has the same density as oxygen, therefore, placement near the floor as opposed to a higher placement on a wall or ceiling makes no difference, since carbon monoxide will travel in any direction that oxygen particles can travel. That is why they make combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
this is awesome, i think my school might have a gas leak somewhere in the baking classrooms and science labs bc a lot of students and myself are getting dizzy everytime we are up in that classroom for our period. i’ll check in with my friends mom (who is our baking teacher) and my engineering teacher to see if there’s batteries inside the monoxide detectors, or if the detectors even work
There are other issues that can cause death like poor ventilation and excess carbon dioxide building up causing suffocating can happen in your sleep and often thought was co
We don't even bother to stick it up anywhere. Sometimes I carry it into various rooms as a mobile detector to make sure there isn't a build up of CO anywhere.
natalie garcia no, that isnt an emergency. It can indicate a low battery or that the carbon monoxide detector has reached the end of its life and can no longer detect CO
0:48 One of the telltale signs of carbon monoxide being present is that it make people really ditzy... this female needs to get out of that room, asap.

aha, the comment i was looking for. these mf dont know what they're talkin about...

Heard about this on a reddit legal advice subreddit, good stuff.

Competent*
It’s kind of ironic 😂.

I wish my mom would get one she always thinks that I’m crazy or something 🤦🏽♀️or think I over exaggerate

It's a gas it's going to build up starting at highest point and go down, right?
Are you sure?
@@rockygift6611 no - same density as oxygen, so placement dosent matter as long as the detector is not obstructed by an object.
Some detectors dont go off till its to late
Not good ones.
That's why you buy multiple
Gasoline also has no scent. That strong smell is added.

No joke I woke up cause it kept going off. I was sleeping good too so I'm low-key pissee
Are you ok?
No put the alarm near your sleeping area and 1 near your appliances
Come from reddit, where he apparently hallucinating ant in his house because of this poisoning (?)
Holy shit that takes freak accident to a new level

Y is CO2 building up
I’m scared because it smells like eggs and my grandmother has a gas furnace
Got the new info it shouldn't be on the ceiling!
Here because Jonghyun 😞
Neighbor same
Yeah...TT
Most gas appliances also plug unto an outlet for their electronics and igition.
Who's responsible for changing the batteries? Isn't there a federal agency responsible for that?
The report doesn't know whether it's about carbon monoxide emissions or gas line leaks. LOL!
We don't even bother to stick it up anywhere. Sometimes I carry it into various rooms as a mobile detector to make sure there isn't a build up of CO anywhere.
That's really nice actually
Today I tested my co alarm it went good
I was like STOP USING THE BEEP MY MOM MIGHT BE SCARED😭😭
So if your boiler is plugged in socket you are good
My thing beeps ones pls tell me if there is carbon monoxide
natalie garcia no, that isnt an emergency. It can indicate a low battery or that the carbon monoxide detector has reached the end of its life and can no longer detect CO
if it chirped 4 times in a row constantly it means there's co
My gran died as she had co poisoning
planenerd 100 sad that natural gas company should be fined.
And according to SML, another sign is random objects suddenly rapping.
IAM saved by god's grace bcos I always took deep breath lot of oxygen in my body, god's plan everwhere
God* Make sure you say God with a capital G
ME TOO i remeber this in bible somehwere if you take deep berath lot of oxygen regularly thou shall be immune to carbon monoxide poisoning amen
carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide detectors grind salts into powder and compete over atmospheric centering of banana and the making of taffy

Terrifying
somebody known to me got asthma after a fridge got leaked the person has asthma ever after what should the person do
What if the batteries havent changed does it says that?
And they use a picture of an electric stove.
lmao
Yeah because stoves are a common place for gas leaks which can give off carbon monoxide.

It for real just happened to me
I'm still trying to figure out what it smells like-
Could you maybe tell me?
@@Clay4rot you can't smell it

I think it's happening to me right now so I'm researching it. Could be the gas heater. I'm getting a low-level CO2 detector tomorrow.

My mum said its a waste of money but bought a used one for £6
It's not something to play around with.
it wouldnt be a waste of money with your life hanging in the balance
not a waste, if you have gas appliances, absolutely get CO detectors
Oof
i could only dream of dying like this.
