    do you think graduating with 250h with multi ifr and working as a pipeline patrol pilot + instructing till I reach 1000h asap write the ITRA right away then apply for flair, lynx or westjet for a jet position(skipping regionals) is a good move ?

      I would play it this way: do the pipeline/instruct until 750-1000hrs (1.5hrs), then get an FO job on a king air doing medevac or at a 703/704 on a beech 1900 (1year). Write your ATPL and Upgrade to captain at 1500hrs (build 500-1000 turbine PIC). At 2000hrs go to Air Canada. If you get to AC under 30yrs old, you are set for life and will be a captain by 35-40.

    Hey yaro,
    I commented on one of your videos a little over half a year ago regarding my category 1 medical. Well fast forward to now, I have my category 1 medical. Im in a intergraded ATPL program in Montreal since august. I recently passed my PPL written, now I am about 2 months away from doing my flight test all while studying for CPL ground school. Life is good haha.
    Was just wondering, I KNOW I HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO. What do you think about applying to jazz as an FO? My plan is when im done my program, obtaining my instructor rating, grind it out for a year or so then apply to Jazz. According to their site they are only demanding 500 tt hours. Can you please tell me what you think the pros and cons of this plan could be? THANK YOU.

      Huge congrats, that’s an amazing accomplishment 💪🏻💪🏻
      Watch my recent few videos about upgrading to captain, as well as pilot job websites.
      Going to jazz with low time isn’t a great idea, as upgrading will take a long time. The pay at jazz isn’t great, and they are not flowing many pilots to Air Canada, so most people are avoiding it. Finish your instructor rating and then see what the economy is doing.

    Hi Yaro, I currently attend a university degree & flight training program with partnership with Jazz. If I get selected for the cadet program, it would allow me to enter the right seat of a CRJ/Dash 8 with 250 hours. Coming out of university, I would not meet the criteria for an ATPL (250 PIC, 100 PIC XC, 25 PIC XC Night .etc). Would I have to simultaneously take a job as a flight instructor to build this time? Or will the PICUS program in place suffice?

      This has been an issue for jazz cadet program pilots since the inception of the program. You are correct, that it will be very difficult to meet the ATPL criteria, even with PICUS, and in the past pilots where forced to rent a 172 and fly circles at night just to get the last of the hours. Getting into the right seat at 250hrs isn’t valuable anymore, now that we’re in a pilot shortage. In the past it was, when you needed 3000hrs+ to get to jazz, now you can get into flair at 1500hrs. So I would finish the program, and then find a 703 job asap. Check out my recent video on how to become a captain, as the movement is very rapid right now, and you don’t want to be stuck sitting at jazz in the right seat

    Captain Yaro, is it possible to find a job with only 250H or I should consider becoming a flight instructor to build more hours?

      The first job is always hard, even as a flight instructor. There are pros and cons to both. Non-flight instructor, you are competing with hundreds of pilots looking for the same thing, but if you find a hybrid job then you will get a salary + flight time but it will be slower building the hours. Flight instructor, less competition but extra money for the rating, plus you only get paid when you fly, but if you find a smaller school and teach lots, you can build hours quickly.
      Ultimately just start sending resumes, and if you have no success, follow the flight instructor route.

    I’m planning on going to MRU to become a pilot. Only thing is, it’s an expensive endeavour. (You personally) How were you able to pay off loans while training? What jobs did you do? Also, what did you do to rack up flight hours? Thanks!

    I am currently in high school and looking at going to MRU in Alberta for the diploma of aviation. However i have heard that if you do not have your PPL before beginning it may take longer to graduate. Is this true?

      Look at the entry requirements of the program, as many already want you to have a PPL. If the program includes the PPL, then yes it will obviously take longer

    Class 4 instructors are paid 40 dollars an hour! That’s a great number to start with. Does this number vary from school to school ?

      Yes it does! It’ll vary based on city and remoteness of the school. If you move to a smaller town or out of province you might find schools paying more than this to attract flight instructors. Alternatively if you’re at a super busy school with many flight instructors in the big city, pay might be around $25-$30/hr.

    Hi @aviator inspirations, Thank you so much for your videos over the years. You have no idea how much you've helped me, and I'm sure many others, in the challenging path of flight training. I recently finished my multi IFR last December, and that wouldn't have been possible without your help and the assistance of many others. So, thank you!
    Apologies for the long text, but I also have a question. I'm currently on the path to finding my first pilot job, which seems harder than my flight training 😭. However, I received a potential position as a flight officer for a King Air B200, but it requires me to sign a $9000 bond that I will have to pay over the span of 2 years. In short, what's your opinion on training bonds in Canada, especially for entry-level jobs (I'm currently at 220 TT, multi IFR, avionic technician)?

      Training bonds are small companies in Canada are normal, but typically you DONT pay them back if you fulfill the requirements and stay the 2years. You only pay it back if you leave before the 2years is up.
      So double check, and if they DO make you pay it back, I would be cautious taking the job, and no pilot should be paying for their own job.
      It’s a great question, so maybe I’ll make a video on it sometime this year 👌🏻

      @@AviatorInspirations Thanks for the question. Im not looking for anything in particular really I'm just trying to crack in the industry so ill able to hit the 750 1000TT milestones. As for my last comment on the King Air it was in the North. Wasnt the best at networking at my flight school since I went the modular way and now im paying the price 🥲

      I didn’t network either, and that shouldn’t stop you either, so keep sending those resumes and following up every 3 months 💪🏻. But yes be careful, don’t get suckered with a lengthy training bond. 2years is standard, and you never pay it back unless you leave.

    I couldn't agree more, im gonna send this video to anyone thats climbing the ladder and looking for advise, very well said. Ive seen "Ramp to flight" Pilots, and Id say its not worth it at all. Currently capt on a king air, the amount of multi PIC is fast especially in the 703 world, and sometimes pays more too. same reason as alot of pilots leaving to the regionals at 700-1000.

      It’s industry knowledge from being in Canadian aviation for 20yrs, in addition to public information on aircraft orders and the pay scales are from current negotiated contracts. Air Canada has also thousands of retirements coming up, so the number of pilots required I mentioned are pretty conservative. If you look at Canadian pilot job postings, which im current working on a video on, you will see the sheer demand for pilots in Canada. What stage of your pilot career are you in?

Planning/Hoping fora career change to aviation once complete. Currently 42 years old, working in hi tech. Crossing my fingers for continued pilot demand while I complete training. I appreciate all the advice and guidance.

    Hey captain! I have two questions. First of all, do we need an undergrad degree to get a job here in Canada at the major or regional airlines or can we just go to flight schools directly? Second of all, how hard getting a job in the Usa if you got your license here in Canada? (Assuming you have enough experience to get a job at a regional airline as a first officer))

      Great questions!
      1: no post secondary degree required for any airline in Canada. We are in a very deep pilot shortage, just like the US.
      2: it is EXTREMELY hard to get a US work visa for Canadian pilots, many are trying and getting rejected. So the question is not about the pilots license, but whether you can realistically work in the US.

      @@AviatorInspirations Ahh, I see. It is kinda silly and unnecessary to be that hard to get a job in the states since our countries are literally similar. I am a freshman in uni studying pol sci hoping to become a lawyer but being a pilot was my dream since the age of 7 or so. I guess I will book a introductory flight as soon as possible and draw a new route for myself accordingly. Thank you so so so much for replying my questions. I will do deeper research and probably bug you again :)

      I would recommend you keep both cards in your pocket. You can do both, and have the stability of law during recessions and lay offs. The pilot career is very volatile. Alternatively you can practice law, and then fly for fun, as many doctors and dentists do.

I was curious if you know any pilot who could get a work permit to work in the states. It is very depressing to know that the pilots in USA makes so much more for the same job : (

      If you want something bad enough, you will overcome the challenges 🙂. Aviation math isn’t very hard, anyone can learn it.

      So Emirates needs an ICAO ATPL, and they are competitive to get into. I dont know if they require a TC verification letter, since your aviation booklet should be proof enough of your license.

    The 1000h and 1500h rules must go. Integrated ATPL programs all around the world lead to the airlines at 200~250h right after flight school.
    I achieved my fATPL in Canada, but unfortunately, will take it somewhere else after conversion.
    And amen to that: NO MORE RAMP JOBS FOR PILOTS IN CANADA.

      Yes Canada is very slow to evolve, and many are leaving for very lucrative opportunities abroad. It will be very interesting to see how Canada adapts, but for now, we’re all benefiting with fast pay increases and upgrade opportunities. Where are you moving to?

      As I mentioned in the video, salaries will keep going up, and I expect $80k+ for FO year 1, hopefully close to 6 figures.

      Yes you can. Some pilots use a pillow to elevate your height if the seat doesn’t go high enough.

    How many years of instructor experience do I need to apply for regional?

      Pilot jobs are about hours, not years, so all depends how much you can fly per year as a flight instructor. If you fly 500hrs per year, that’s 3years to get to 1500hrs, and get your ATPL. However you can get a king air FO job at 500hrs. Check out my latest 2 video’s on how to become a captain and captain upgrade process.

    Could you please share your knowledge about job opportunities regarding to new comer’s job regulations. Next year I will immigrate to Canada with open work permit but I hear that Airlines just hire with PR.
    I have 2000 hours on B737 CL with ATPL and my license is B737 300-900

      It’s a great question, and yes I can look into that topic! Flair airlines does a lot of hiring of international pilots, so you can email their recruiters and will they answer all your questions about the requirements to work for them.

    omg, i think this is a bad salary in comparison with job of truck driver for example, one pilot have to do one investiment of 90.000 dollars, to have a payment of basicle 4.000 Dollars per month?, this salary is bad, how much time u have to do for take a 1.500 hours flighting?, so much time, 2 years at the minimons, one truck driver have this salary with very lower investiment, just the drive license, i expected one minimon of 7.000 dollars per month without taxes, in instructor flighting job, but this is not the reality, that's sad, because my dreams is be a pilot, but, i think i will keep like truck driver, i have 27 years old, i want to pay my pilot licenses, but... its a high investiment for a low salary how begginer, and after take 1.500 hours flighting, i will receive a salary medium of a truck driver, I would like to have a better idea, to make the decision to invest in a pilot career, or not

      There are 100 other jobs that pay better than being a pilot, but we don’t just do it for the money. We have passion for aviation, and the money is important, but not why we became pilots. Each person has to decide WHY they are becoming a pilot, and whether the sacrifices are worth it. But we are in a pilot shortage, so you can make good money much quicker than before.
