"Floating World" by AJ Williams

    This is a piece written several years ago. I recorded it once before and then forgot about it. Rediscovering it, I really loved the spaced-out, dreamy atmosphere. It's nothing like a Chopin nocturne, of course, but that's the feeling those harmonic progressions give me - sort of delicately balanced on the edge between waking and dreaming. And the hypnotic little repeated rhythmic figure is very lulling and peaceful. It's altogether liquid and gently tidal, to my perception.
    I didn't know when I gave it its title that Floating World was a Japanese cultural reference, and it was not meant to convey anything Japanese...but I'm not going to change the title now, because separated from any other references it says what the piece sounds like to me.
    For a player this has its challenges but I din't find it too hard to re-learn, although as frequently happens when I revive a piece, I changed all the fingering. You can find the score here:
