forever my favourite video on the internet
Hahahha és grande João! Venho ver isto pelo menos uma vez por semana também
Same
Your videos aren’t too shabby though 🤘
Was a beast 9 years ago, still is today
Ur mom
I swear Browne's right hand has it's own brain
Bruh... I swear i can imagine a silly cheesy movie where some dudes hand gets its own brain and turns him into a master of all arts. Drawing. Music... But its one hand so he ends up having to learn the rest with his other to work together and syncronize. Then they truely become one once they are 100% connected and the hands brain goes away but the guy keeps all the skills it had... And now he's a badass at guitar. Fighting with one arm. And fuck... masturbating. Idk lol could lead into some funny scenarios... It reminds me of parasyte the maxim
I guess its his... right hand man.
@@NathanielBTM sound like a great movie.
it is, even scary
He just moves it differently & faster than other players is all
Like the music or not,you can't deny this guy is a beast of a player.
YES
Anyone else still in awe of this performance in 2024???
And still in 2025, indeed
His picking technique is phenomenal.
That tone is sick. The pick attack sounds like a machine gun.
😮
His right hand is unbelievable. Looks like somebody pressed fast-forward. I'm in awe. Absolutely stunning. Great vid.
There's something unreal with his right hand...
Almost mechanical...
***** he just uses correct technique.
Alex Goulding "He Just" .... Gotta be kiding me... There's not alot of guitarist who "Just uses correct technique" Then :P
***** You're right, he's using his wrist mostly, but you can also notice a lot of thumb/index finger movement in his picking technique. Very cool. Especially noticeable at 2:30
It's not a real hand. Browne is a robot.
i need all monuments material in instrumental form because the pure instruments are absolutely insane. the singing and vocal style just masks and dilutes this incredible talent
Well said
His picking technique is supernatural, seriously...
Before looking closely at this video, i was completely bewilder on Browne's right hand, and how he was able to keep such a steady hand with all the back-picks, but if you look at his pinky, it is tucked under the 1st string for leverage. Great Job M8!
a lot of people anchor like that, myself included. Except I don't anchor my pinky on the high E, instead I anchor it on the bridge humbucker. That's why I only like a humbucker in the bridge, without it there's no anchoring. Lol.
uptheirons726 Same I anchor on the bridge, but I had never seen it under the strings tho.
I've always done the same, it makes it infinitely easier to keep low string single note lines and tight riffing in check.
He might also use his pinky that way to dampen the strings.
Tony Young Anchoring is efficient and lots of people do that. I saw that suggestion while watching instructional videos by Petrucci once, and Friedman once. They said it is handy and precisely held their picking hand in check. Do that myself, since I have wobbly wrist, LOL.
there is just nothing groovier. this here is just the most head-bangable song anyone has ever written. WHAT A VIBE!
0_0 His right hand! It's almost robotic! Insane!
Thought the same!
It's ridiculous, it's almost like his pick bounces right off of his strings in some parts. Awesome guitarist with so much talent.
I'm still not convinced this guy isn't a cyborg.
Humans don't play guitars like that, you know who does? A god damned synth...
fallout 4 is real!
all of that practice has been worth it, John's picking technique will be cited as one of the greats for a long time.
I could practice for 8 hours a day for 365 days a year and still never hold a candle to this guy. Absolutely phenomenal player. His pick work alone just blows my mind, never mind what he's doing on the fretboard. Blown away.
The first minute of this song is amazing, not to say that the rest of the song isn't a masterpiece, because it is, but that first minute sets the tone for the rest of the tune. Top job.
His picking hand looks like a machine! Insane!
I still come back to this video regularly. That tone alone makes this fucking perfect.
Still can't get over his picking technique. So good
I am completely amazed on his picking. It's unreal!
Usually I watch stuff like this to get inspired to play. This guy has such perfect technique that is actually makes me feel like not picking up my guitar. There is no way I would ever get close to playing that effortlessly. I've been playing for 9 years.
Who cares what genre it is. Is it a good piece of music? That's what matters. In this case, it's pretty clear that this is quite the piece of music indeed.
his right hand is insane, also everything is just so clean wow
Dear John, you are insane.
kind regards,
David
Although I would usually be against such mechanical playing, there's something about the perfection of this performance that just puts you in a trance. Additionally, two things: 1-that picking was unbelievable 2-very interesting tone, I like it!
I think the thing is that those who usually can be called as 'technical' just play too many notes, but don't care about the picking and the quality. Most of the times they're out of grid. DJonh can do both the agressive picking right on the grid and a good amount of notes
Hi I'm 8 years late in answering this - sometime I think in 2017++ I noticed from the way he strums chords that he was a very unique pocket and feel which despite being super rigid in that space does something very rare in technical riffage which is maintain a solid natural groove amongst the super-quantized mass market sound we've come to know today
his guitar is so beatiful :((
1:05 HE'S NOT DOWNPICKING. TRIGGERED.
Looks like fast forward milliseconds, isn't it? But I love him creates music that works on guitar like this. Super-melodious riff. The way he played ghost notes while riffing, it's just fantastic. Keep it up Browne! I wish you can give us a teaser for upcoming new album.
Absolutely fucking incredible. Pick hand is mesmerizing. The song is so beautiful. I can't get enough of it.
Such a unique style. Love John Browne.
Dat DOWNPICK! I've been a fan of John for ages and I just can't get used to how fast his right hand is.
DAMN! I was thinking, "Another Djent sycophant," then that right hand kicked in!!!
DAMN!!!
2:58 Dat fuckin' UFO riff... That's progress right here.
Ok, seriously....EMG TV is putting out the sickest metal youtube videos lately. Keep up the amazing work guys! BRAVO!!!! \m/
This guy is so much fun to watch. Veryyy good right hand technique and super creative playing. Those little sting scratches are bomb also
i just came up with a great idea of creating a fb page called "John Browne's right hand" but I'm too lazy to do it
You should do it
Goosebumps, Beginning to end!!!!!!
Watched this a million times. I'm completely memorized.
Omfg! This video looks like it’s stop motion. My brain can’t even make sense of this. Sick af.
When John was little, he fell into a cauldron with the best guitar playing technique))))))
Amazing riff after riff. Definite headbanging song and required in everyone's playlist
that tremolo melody at 1:58 is downright flithy
I found that was the easiest part of the play-through...The downstrokes though
Definitely agree, but its an infectious melody.
truth
The rhythms are still a bitch, even in the simple parts...
I got carpel tunnel just watching this lol
the right hand is amazing !
ok, i'm gonna start practicing haha
So did you start? :D
@@overkill845 asking the real questions!
I would ask: did you finish? :D
What I love about EMGs is clarity and tightness. Miss my Spector. ;-(
Man the groove is so lethal in this performance A+ all the way!!
Man, that picking is incredibly smooth and fast
That's just unreal technique
I'm so fascinated by this.
Excellent riff sound. And fantastic idea of the song.
Thankph you Phteven!!
Pick attack is absurd. Composition of riffs and that make John on of my favorites to listen to
Super❤🎉😊
wow this is the first time i heard this guy playing. what a sound !
I have....a whole new respect for Monuments now.
Love the riff at about 3:01
VERY GOOD////
Seriously so freaking sick
so tight.. where did you get that jacket?
River Island
@@JohnBrownemonuments this is exceptional
God I adore your riff making man, fucking sweet Jesus on a stick. it's just so inspiring and amazing to see your melodies and interval genius unfold throughout the song
His fucking picking technique and phrasing are the exact reasons why I listen to fucking Monuments. I could watch this video all fucking day!
Phenomenal picking
probably watched this video close to 100x with full focus... truly unbelievable picking work. I wish you would play in standard drop C!!!
man this is what I needed to hear today
Incredible technique and song!
100% picked notes! YOU ROCK! play again?
John Browne knows how to lay it down!
While it looks effortless, you best believe he is putting in godly effort..
Such a killer and skilled tune, it fried my xbox..well done browne..you monster😎
James Hetfield... You've got competition.
Varun Kuchibhotla What competition? lol
Cody Woodsmanson James has a great downpicking technique that even Dave Mustaine can't keep up with. Even John Browne says that James Hetfield's technique has proved to be helpful to him.
I know, I'm just being a smart ass ;p
Cody Woodsmanson He he.
Varun Kuchibhotla, ok, James inspirated Browne but Browne does it better by far.
next: all up stroke metal player!
lol :D
+khoirus sobri Marty Friedman deliberately starts every phrase with an upstroke and he uses a strong bias in his right hand towards the upstrokes
Уровень бог, такая чистота игры, ритм 🔥🔥🔥🔥
OMG his right hand so adorable 😍
10 years on and I still insist the man’s right hand it’s glitching out of reality
That was amazing.
01:17 dat transition and that following beastly riff!
to all the dudes saying this is insane: yep it is, but from a musical point of view. what im saying with this is: its super hard to come up with something like the main riff (and the whole song and monuments stuff in general) and it really requieres a REALLY big amount of skill, BUT fucking try to learn it, its not even that hard, just belive in your self and you can learn the song. I actually was not a downpicking-God (what means i really sucked at downpicking, had no speed, dexerty, got super fast exhaustet..... and im still a noob comared to him) UNTIL i learned this and atlas, and within !2WEEKS! of actually not practicing as much as i should had i skyrocked my playing and my way of writing music has completely changed. Thanks mr. Brown, you are THE man!
I could sit in this room with him for days without knowing. 420 comment, blaze it.
His picking hand is hypnotizing.
so clean, its insane!
amazing.
Epic riff, epic technique
Wow. Just wow.
Охренеть. Высекает как хирург!
Astounding! Machine-like!
That fucking down stroke. Odin Almighty....
a true gentleman.
Jesus, his right hand has got some stamina. After a while of those chugs, my hand would've started to burn
Never really paid attention before, but this guitar is sick. I think would look cool with a quilted center piece too.
Yes.
If you watch this video without the sound it looks like I'm rewinding an old VHS tape.
Hey @JohnBrowne what did you say bout those fretwraps again..?
Holy shit his guitar tone awesome
John's picking hand is what they were trying to destroy in Terminator 2. They failed.
awesome....just awesome
That brutal right hand execute riff uneffortesly
The right hand of god.
This guy has crazy good picking technique.
It's 2022 and Ibanez still haven't made anything close to this custom RGAT - IBANEZ ARE YOU LISTENING?
