I don't own a single Monuments album but I watch most of John Browne's videos. He's very refreshing to listen to and watch and seems very grounded. A very innovative player and extraordinary rhythmist.
same, incredible playing but personally can't get into the singing. all the periphery adjacent stuff feels so dated imo but I can listen to john play riffs all day
I'm so happy you had Browne on your channel! He's a huge influence on my playing and the primary reason why I picked up the 7 string! This conversation is such an eye opening one in terms of how to approach the guitar! 🔥🔥🔥 I hope you have fellow Kabayan Mark Holcomb here soon!
Love how giddy this guy gets when he hears something on the fretboard in this tuning. Reminds me of me the first time i saw a john browne video on this tuning. Living vicariously through you rn my guy
John has quickly become one of my favorites to listen to... for enjoyment as well as inspiration to play. I haven't tried the DADGAD tuning 😅 but i am soon 😊. Have a guitar that should be perfect for. Im looking forward to it
Saw that the song Cardinal Red is in DADGAD and this video popped up in my feed. Thank you so much for this video I learned sooo much and I am now very excited about finding more stuff in this tuning and also potentially learning Cardinal Red.
Try CGDGCD. IDK if anyone else uses it but I was finally able to open my mind to writing music cuz experimentation led to creation. I no longer play in any other tuning but this one.
John Browne has been my single biggest influence in modern guitar playing. His downpicking and chord progressions are next level amazing. His way of composing and assembling music is up there with the greats imo
Wow this is so inspiring and mind expanding. Thank you so much for this special video. John Browne seems like such a genuine dude with such extraordinary talent. It’s nice to see some of his thought process and give a different perspective on a classic tuning!
amazing video, john is such a legend for giving such detailed explanations to all of these different voicings. I picked up on this tuning from his Flux Conduct project and it's been amazing to create moodier tones
I just happened across this and was wondering if anyone knows what that single-cut is? Obviously it's not a Gibson and I can't quite make out the logo on the headstock. Drove myself crazy trying to catch it. 😉
Thank you for this feature Sir Perf!! I always shun away strange tunings since I always have to rewire my brain for the locations which as you've discussed you are not limited inside the box. Growing up learning you have to setup the guitar with all the tension and string gauges specifically for this. My first stop block tuning was from the acoustic version of Another Day by Dream Theater.

You're missing out big time

Literally tried it tonight.
It’s….fucking alien, dude. 😂 It’s wild learning an alternate tuning
this has completely changed my way of thinking on the guitar
JB talking so humble like if he wasnt a damn beast. Love it
Damn, this is great interview man. John Browne, isa sa mga hinahangaan kong
gitarista along with Jon Deiley (northlane) at John Dinopol (urbandub).

Glad it was helpful!
Finally John! I love all of his work. Fellsilent, Flux Conduct, and Monuments. I tune my guitars in Dadgad and cgcgce

Big fan of monuments and metalcore bands. Can't believe na interview mo siya boss. Thank you.
At long last! Thank you Sir Perf! 🥰
Mick Goodrick wrote about playing on one string in his book back in 1987. Scott Henderson calls it the six pianos.

Glad you enjoyed it! It was eye opening for me
Been rocking GAD for a couple weeks. I don't think i'll go back for a long time.
Aaayyeee two amazing human beings making C-Grid look good! :D
Big thanks to the C-Grid team!
I learned dadgad from Pierre Bensusan always liked it for metal, Devin Townsend also for open tuning
browne is the reason why i use dadgad, very innovative, inspiring and a master song writer imo.
So good!
Tangina this is my two worlds colliding! Thank you sirs!
This is such a surprise!
finally! sa wakas! ❤❤❤
Comrades, C-Grid for the win, great video folks! DADGAD has always been a mystery to me

Interesting case being made for what I'll call dagDAD, since I call standard ebgDAE...
Owshi!!! John Browne!!
Sobrang astig nito!! yung downpicking sana next pag nagkita ulit kayo lodi perf. looking forward sa mga Djent guitarists in the future.

Russian Circles also uses this tuning and they have pretty unusual sounds
“Like I can’t do this” *Bangs out a wild harmonic major or something lead run*
“That sounded alright actually…”
😂😂
@@mitchellturnbull3988 he’s a sandbagger 😂
What the! John! Kainggit ka sir Perf!
Mismo ! Pero how?! 😱 Hahaha astig 🤟🔥
This was great, very interesting!
Now I just wonder what his approach to his CADGAD tuning is
John Browne uses it in the song, False Providence, by Monuments
I have been playing in DADF#AD for... 20 years or so now. But it really hurts me when I try to learn or relearn any theory or scales.
nashville tuning used by paul simon is likewise interesting 😊
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Where you at on 2/17/24? 🙏🙏🙏😊😊😊
Where Rico and Bamboo at😁
Yow! When was this?😭
🌼🌼🌼
Maestro Perf pa OT. Curious ako ano nangyari sa 214 Tutorial mo. Napapanood ko pa days ago, today iba na settings. Apektado po ba?
😍👏👏🔥🔥
What is that green single cut you are playing??
Maybach Convair
How is DADGAD a dsus2 when it has no E in it?
Dsus4

I can’t recall Creed using DADGAD? 🤔
They used DADADD some which sounds beautiful.
Sounds Haunted like AIC! 🤟

Locrian never stood a chance
@@jayfranco64 😲 curse you... you kiss your mother with that mouth?
