Thx for watching Matt! The MK5 outputs to the car via the AUX source. Your Bose and any aftermarket amp/subs are all downstream from that, so no direct interface to consider/worry about. I've got a sub and it thumps just like any of the other sources 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I bought the mark 5 for my 2014 q50 and the seller said Apple car play kept crashing and he said he thinks it’s because if the Zlink application could this be the cause or is it something else?
My experience with carplay has been pretty poor so far. Wireless carplay always disconnects randomly so I’m kinda bound to wired carplay which still disconnects sometimes. But the most annoying thing is the latency when changing songs. After some time passes, the latency becomes worse and worse, but it resets after using siri for some reason. Also it’s literally impossible to have a phone call for over 3 mins for me on this device because the latency kicks in and having a conversation with a delay is a goddamn headache lmao. I hope theres a fix to this
Damn that blows. I'm sure it isn't any consolation but I haven't experienced any delays or disconnects yet. The 'after siri' thing really makes me think the issue is with the host (iPhone) and not the client (MK5 or whichever device you have displaying carplay) so there's a good chance things will improve as they keep updating carplay
i’ve been having the same issue wireless carplay is just straight glitching. and wired just disconnects randomly and the only way to get it to work again is to reboot the system

Messages, calls, maps all work. This is just a pretty frontend for CarPlay, so it'll behave like any other CarPlay device. All the HVAC/heated seats etc work fine. I don't have heated steering wheel on my Q, but I haven't heard anyone complain or report it not working for them. The only 2 things that don't work on mine are: 1) call button on the steering wheel doesn't map to anything, and 2) the voice command button maps to a weird voice app that I uninstalled
Loved the video. Just got my MK5 installed, i have several issues but I was wondering if you know how to set the color of the hard buttons on the side of the unit to a single color. My buttons are constantly changing and its driving me nuts. :) Thanks in advance.
In the app list, there should be an app called 'light setting' or something similar. that's the app that lets you change the colors of the ambient lighting.

Nope. If the UI bugs you, know that you can run ANY Android launcher on these things that allow you lots of flexibility and theming. Nova launcher and Car launcher pro are 2 great options I tried. There's also the Sergey firmware which takes these things to another level with themes that incorporate telemetry from the vehicle (compass, speed and Ron meeters, etc)
Once you initially wirelessly connect your iPhone to the unit, does it automatically connect as soon as you turn the car on? Or do you have to connect it each time you start it up?

Brother, I have installed several Android based CarPlay systems on the Q40, G37, Q60 and now on my Q50. The one on the Q50 is not integrated like the previous cars (using a dongle with a small Android tablet). My issue with all of them (though Grom Audio fixed the issue on my Q40 and G37) while using CarPlay has been echoing on phone calls due to AEC (Acoustic Echo Cancellation). The person at the other end of the call hears himself/herself when they talk and there is also a slight time delay. Does this unit have the same problem, when using the iPhone? Hey Luis - that sounds infuriating haha. I haven't experienced any echo or delays on calls using wireless CarPlay, and haven't heard any reports of it with the MK5.

how does the mk5 stack up against the smartautokits CarPlay mod? Which unit is smoother and/or has the lowest latency? strictly regarding iPhone CarPlay compatibility.
As far as CarPlay goes, I found latency negligible on both. As far as I know, Carplay/Android Auto don't really rely on the unit's processing power too much. They're just terminals and the phone is the host.
Hi I’m having a problem with my car play where the volume don’t work in only CarPlay mode. Would you know what could cause it and how to fix it? Like the maps and music with show and say it’s playing but no sound is being made?
The unit comes with preamp RCAs if you're going for a crazy build, you'll need to figure out equalizer and volume modulation for each channel, though. Otherwise, just wire it like you would any other aftermarket system. Yeah I've seen this before. Tough to explain in words, but your top screen (behind the MK5) isn't seated properly. Make sure it is properly seated before screwing it back in, then the MK5 will sit flush.

Yeah, generally, wired works better than wireless. Better comm speeds and less chance of interference. But in my testing I didn't have any issues with wireless Carplay 🤙🏽

@@redlinemsa correct wired only for AA when using Zlink4. Do you have an MK5? Try installing Zlink5 instead of Zlink4. The restriction is the app, not the device.

@@jore9387 really depends. the date keeps getting pushed back, and i still don't have any official pricing, features, etc details from AuCar yet. I'd say if you're in a hurry, and/or you want something consistent and reliable, go with the MK5. I can confidently say they're good units and they get the job done, especially after adding Sergey Firmware. If you're cool with waiting (maybe til summer?) and/or you want to be at the cutting edge/have the latest-and-greatest, and you're OK with the potential quirks that come with new iterations (not saying there will be, but lets be honest, these are Android screens from China), then wait for the new one. There's 2 factors that impact "performance": screen responsiveness and processing power. Screen responsiveness I give it a 7. In carplay mode, when you're not reliant on the screens processing power, the experience is very fluid. In processing power, I give it a 5. I've spoken about this in other videos, this thing gets laggy sometimes. Even with the Sergey firmware installed, and Root Booster to Max out the processor and memory allocation, it's still just ok.

Yes. As long as they install properly, it sends audio via the car's aux channel and thus benefits from all the Bose amplification and signal processing. Choose your installer carefully, I've heard some horror stories of "pros" botching the installs on these and then blaming the car or the unit. These things are PLUG AND PLAY they don't need to splice and cut wires or anything. Show them my install video!! End rant lol good luck fam 🙌🏾🙌🏾

Here's a good question/issue(?) I have one of these units, it's a AooNav unit 13.6 PX6 purchased from Alibaba. How do we access or can we access the Intouch Diagnostic features???? Automatically connects once you open the Car Auto app on the MK5. And you can set the Car Auto app to automatically run when the car starts 👍🏾

360 cameras work fine. Compatible with 2014+ Q50, all trims. I don't think a 2013 Q50 exists.

Nobody hates lag more than me. Carplay is pretty smooth. What you’re seeing is low refresh rate on the screen, not performance lag.

Nope. They need to send an engineer to the US to get hands on, and they haven't authorized the travel due to covid
They fixed it as it's working on my 2018 Q50 Red Sport.

Just got this but I’m having issues with the Bluetooth it worked fine until I changed the Bluetooth name now it won’t even connect,it just says the new Bluetooth name I gave it and when I try to connect it says it’s not in range?
Try forgetting/unpairing everything and staring over?

Le processus est le même. Le MK5 est livré avec l'application Zlink préinstallée, qui active Carplay pour iPhone et Android Auto pour Android. Branchez simplement votre téléphone sur USB, ouvrez l'application et carplay devrait démarrer. Bonne chance!

Yep updated ETA is end of December for the sample and I will be sharing so y'all know what's coming! The consumer-ready version should be ready February/March

@@jore9387 really depends. the date keeps getting pushed back, and i still don't have any official pricing, features, etc details from AuCar yet.
I'd say if you're in a hurry, and/or you want something consistent and reliable, go with the MK5. I can confidently say they're good units and they get the job done, especially after adding Sergey Firmware.
If you're cool with waiting (maybe til summer?) and/or you want to be at the cutting edge/have the latest-and-greatest, and you're OK with the potential quirks that come with new iterations (not saying there will be, but lets be honest, these are Android screens from China), then wait for the new one.

on a scale of 1-10 how bad is the responsiveness of the touchscreen
There's 2 factors that impact "performance": screen responsiveness and processing power.
Screen responsiveness I give it a 7. In carplay mode, when you're not reliant on the screens processing power, the experience is very fluid.
In processing power, I give it a 5. I've spoken about this in other videos, this thing gets laggy sometimes. Even with the Sergey firmware installed, and Root Booster to Max out the processor and memory allocation, it's still just ok.
Does CarPlay work with the cable? Like does it HAVE to be wireless? Or can I just use the cable for CarPlay like most units
MK5: Wired or wireless
MK6: Wireless only

Yes. As long as they install properly, it sends audio via the car's aux channel and thus benefits from all the Bose amplification and signal processing.
Choose your installer carefully, I've heard some horror stories of "pros" botching the installs on these and then blaming the car or the unit. These things are PLUG AND PLAY they don't need to splice and cut wires or anything. Show them my install video!! End rant lol good luck fam 🙌🏾🙌🏾

Why this is:
As there are constant evolutions in hosts (iphones and their software versions) and clients (like OEM carplay setups, or the MK5 like I demoed in this video), incompatibilities & glitches are bound to pop up.

I have no gps in my Q60/Q50 if I purchase this system will I have gps? Like is it built in the system without buying a Q50/Q60 that has gps?
Yes that's one of the perks. I dont have factory gps in mine either but I use Waze and Google maps with this regularly.

Alternatively, the MK5 is a FULL ANDROID TABLET capable of running all those apps and more, natively. Using it as a carplay screen is kind of a waste. Just my .02!!

Interesting question. I tried getting to this menu and it didn't work. Worst case scenario, you'd need to connect the original screen to run diags. I'll ask around to see if anyone's found another way to get in. Thanks!!
