Yeah, I don’t know about that. They let the bear get way to close before making any noise to attempt to get it to back off. It’s obvious that they wanted some good video for comments like above. They never should have let that bear break a 100 yard distance without making noise and warning shots. They seemed to know this was a cub recently “kicked” by its Mother. Highly, highly unpredictable bears depending on how soon they were kicked. If your on a bear hunt and your not going to take a bear, than leave it alone as if you were a tourist. Quit the testosterone show.

He mentioned that the bear must of been just kicked. Does that mean kicked away from its mom? He also mentioned they are usually mad for days, was that reference to the bear being upset that it was just kicked out of its family?
I thought for a sec, the guy's gonna kill the bear. But not killing it was humane, and that too, so close-by, well that was brave.

Superb composure! To make a call like that, and know enough about the land and the fauna to recognize that this was curiosity and not aggression!? Man that is a ballsy call to make. But it was an informed call. The wrong move and that mama would have been on them before they could even shoulder that rifle. No. Doubt! Even if you did get a shot off, that is way to close to expect anything less than her barreling through you upon death. This was super impressive

Wildest , coolest bear encounter I’ve ever seen . Epic props for sparing the mighty bears 🐻 life ! Respect. At 20-25 feet ....that Bear 🐻 is pretty much right next to you, in your face . As in , the bear would literally be on those hunters badly mauling them ....almost before the hunters realized it was even happening . What I’m saying is those dudes , accepted the fact that they were literally “toast” , and in the bears instantaneous kill zone.....yet they did not shoot the bear .👍🏼 The hunters truly braved it out . If the bear did charge at that ultra short distance , even with 3 experienced hunters , all bets are off .Also for that bear not to fully shy away from a high powered rifle round at point blank range ? Several ? Eeeessshhh . That was not encouraging to say the least. Lol you know what kind of muscle pressure, blast , noise , shock way comes concentrated out of a High Powered Rifle ? And to cap it all off.... at the end ...the bears literal Death Stare ! Looking down at the hunters ....wild video

I started carrying an air horn in Kodiak while hunting but I often worry about accidently blasting it and scaring off game. I find them effective. Would be interesting to see how an air horn compares to gun fire. I've heard mixed results with gun fire effectiveness. Throwing rocks works well from what my friends have tried.

Everyone is happy they didn't take this bear out, but I'm not too certain this ended well. That's too much of an aggressive bear and it had every opportunity to go on its own way but it chose to crowd those fellas. Not good.
Bears that flee are good safe bears that normally don't cause these type of showdowns.
In short that's just too much aggressive behavior.
I agree. If I had been in that situation, I would’ve shot to kill. Shotgun would’ve been the best choice. She was getting ready to attack. Tough situation when the cubs are behind you and sow in front of you. Sow was the instigator in that situation. Warning shot should’ve been a lot sooner. You don’t fire a warning shot when the bear is almost on top of you. I’ve had a bear charge and I didn’t wait until it was too close to start shooting. Too close means you’re a split second from death. None of these lovey dovey animal defenders have had a bear encounter. So nothing they can say will amount to even two hoots. It was a good thing there were many hunters with firearms. Glad nothing happened but could’ve been a war against sow and cubs: not just sow. These animal rights activists don’t realize that the cubs aren’t innocent and defenseless. Hikers and campers also get mauled/killed by adult bear and cubs as well because they weren’t careful. Hunting has nothing to do with it.

I should have been more clear with my comment I was trying to explain that when a hunter shots an animal it's not just for a trophy it's more for the meat for the conservation of these animals. Of course anti hunter don't understand or want to understand this. Also great videogame

NOTHING. Current taxonomy DOES NOT designate 'coastal brown bears' or 'peninsula bears' or whatever else as distinct subspecies. ALL brown bears in N. America (Kodiak group aside) are grizzlies.

In al respects, I can't get why one should do this: disturb a wild animal and almost being forced to shot it for your own life. I mean, there are better hobbies that do not require to risk your life or worse to endanger a beautiful animal. If it is just for adrenaline, then do drugs instead. If it is to take photos and videos, do than from a safe distance. If you were there for hunting, then I hope the bear would taste you sooner or later

I don’t think I could’ve been as restrained as these people. if that beer decided to come at that distance there was nothing they could do. they would get one shot and they would be dead. I wouldn’t of let the bear come that close. Bear spray would be a help. I value my life more than these people.

Adam actually it doesn’t work all that well for Brown’s according to our guide and outfitter. I’m sure there are applications that it would be a good deterrent, but only if you didn’t have a gun.
The Experience It seems in this case even shooting at the bear's feet wasn't an effective deterrant.
Bear spray is also effective when you have guns (assuming you would rather not be forced to shoot an attacking bear). Conditioning occurs when the bear experiences immense pain and discomfort whenever they are too close to humans. This will reduce the bear's confidence and give them true fear of humans.
And I think in this situation spray would be very appropriate, the bear is curious and non-fearful, far too close, and not being scared by shouting and gunshots.
The Experience Having guns would make me feel more comfortable using spray. Knowing that if the less-lethal option fails you have deadly force ready to go
Why did everyone say he didn't kill it. He clearly did kill it, he pumped 4 bullets into it. Unless they were rubber bullets he was firing which I don't think a bear would even notice. Also I've never seen a rubber bullet for a rifle.
Were some of yall fooled by the way he lay down peacefully? That's called dying. Or the way they walked off? That's called giving the bear 30 minuets to die. You don't walk up to a dying bear until you know its dead.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but to me it looks very much like they shot and killed this bear.
atourdeforce we DID NOT shoot the bear! We did however shoot close to the bear in an attempt to prevent a full on charge in which we would of had to kill it! This is a young bear just kicked off from its mom! Not something we would have, nor should we have, any interest in killing. During the week we passed up many bears that were larger and more mature. Our goal was to find the oldest, biggest bear we could. Ultimately we couldn’t close the distance in time on a bear that fit our criteria. There is always next time...

Bears rarely attack, even grizzlies. Ever seen the documentary Grizzly man?" That fool steven Treadwell basically acted like a goof around grizzlies for years before one finally had enough and killed him. And this was s guy who taunted them day after day.
