Lyrics:
Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
Stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Good
Who never ever learned to read or write so well
But he could play the guitar just like ringing a bell
Go, go, go, Johnny, go, go, go, Johnny, go, go
Go, Johnny, go, go, go, Johnny, go, go
Johnny B. Good
His mama told him "someday you will be a man
And you will be the leader of a big old band
Many people coming from miles around
To hear your playing music when the sun goes down
Maybe someday you name will be in lights saying "Johnny B. Good tonight"
Go, go, go, Johnny, go, go, go, Johnny, go, go
Go, Johnny, go, go, go, Johnny, go, go

James Burton was and still is an outstanding guitar player. An absolute legend.
He definetly is. He has recorded in so many studios for so many songs that you may have heard it but never realising he played them all. Everyone respects James Burton and you can see the look Elvis game him when he started playing.
Well I never heard of him but as a guitar player I saw nothing that impressed me. And way too clean as well. No passion compared to Chuck. With him you feel he's about to break a string on every bend and he's gor some gorgeous overdrive for the time. By today's standards not that impressive but still quite impressive. It's harder to play than you would think.
@@user-lv7ph7hs7l James Burton played a lot of music in studios than you know or may not even know. Recorded with the best and for the best artists who got hit records not nobody's. Chuck Berry played with his soul which James Burton is a professional. The playing has to be down to perfection. No one would recommend you to play for Elvis otherwise. Different styles. James Burton also played everything while Chuck wouldn't really do that.
@@QuantumGamingUploads Gotcha. It's mainly the vocal performance and as a guitarist this is just such an iconic guitarist song, THE song, that the singer should either be in the background or the same person... I'm sure he's just playing how Elvis asked him to do it.... not too flashy and don't draw too much attention from me, because that's what it sounds like. Tame... and this song is wild. It's emotionally about a guitarist rocking the world with his loud amp, overdrive and over the top playing. It's a guitar song... it doesn't need a famous singer. It would be like Elvis performing a Jimi Hendrix song and the guitarist stands in the background, too quiet, amp all clean and plays the notes cleanly but no excessive emotion, no mistake due to passion and no feedback between the amp and the pickups... I'm sure James Burton is a respected guitarist and if he's a session player I haave most likely heard him play, the name sounds familiar but this performance is not for me... I like blues and heavy metal. The singer does his job but the song is about the wailing (or screaming) guitar. Like The Sentinel by Judas Priest. Listen to that live and you'll know what I mean by guitars front and center in a song written for the electric 6-string, where the singer is just there to clarify in words what the guitar is saying. Here the guitar says nothing, it's accompanying the singer... Perhaps my dislike for Elvis is a source of bias, I'd be willing to concede that but he is more focused on looking cool for the ladies than focusing on delivering a good vocal performance. Look at how Chuck sings it. Manic, full of energy, screaming almost. He's singing it in elevator music tone. Laid back and not too focused on getting it perfect. I don't like that. I like bands where the music is first abd performance second. They don't need to hop around or swing their hips just play the song and sing with good tone and passion... and some drive on the guitar. The tone is iconic. Many heard a distorted guitar for the first time in their lives when this came on the radio. It blew people's minds. Because they were used to Elvis. And often the old timey tube radios cranked to 10 would add even more distortion, a famous guitarist began experimenting with distortion because his radio did that and Chuck's guitar was distrorting like Jimi Hendrix. It's beyond iconic. So to play it clean and standing in the background is almost resigning and I wouldn't be surprised if the guitarist felt a little sad and went home and turned up his amp and played along to the record. Just speculating wildly of course:)
"All right, this is an oldie. Well, It's an oldie where I came from."
this one is not even great how dare quoting that shit on this shit?
“All right guys this is a blues riff in b watch me for the changes and try to keep up all right?”

Young people have no understanding of how HUGE Elvis was in the world. The most known and loved man on the planet and still loved 50yrs later. They did not call this guy "The King Of Rock N Roll" for nothing did they.Sublime.
@Bash Flossy don't talk nonsense. It is not about who started it first. Obviously not Elvis. He was influenced and learnt from what went before him and what he listened to growing up in as a young man in Memphis. He perhaps started rockabilly at Sun when he recorded That's Alright Mama. I think he did. He is called the King of Rock n roll because he was it's first and biggest star. Calling him that in fact demeans his achievements as he was much more than a rock n roll singer. That's why his other name is more apt THE KING. For that is what he was. The King of entertainment. What other singer could have pulled off this global satellite show. Ki
