The Retro Future I would enjoy a SNES video for a home console but I also wanted to comment because I am kid and I get made fun of because I enjoy retro games more than newer games like red dead 2 or Fortnite and I like both of those games my brother has red dead 2 on his xbox so I got see him play it and it looks fun and of course I have played Fortnite but your video on the pocket go made me really really want a pocket go and I saved up and got one! But I just wanted to say thanks for the great content I really enjoy old retro games but whenever I find a retro related video their channel is always not retro related AT ALL so I am a really big fan even though I’ve only been subscribed since SomethingElseYT made the video of his DS LITE but thanks for making really good content.
Please do another/better backlit pocket please.
Can I use a rechargeable battery on the gameboy?
For anybody looking to get into repairing and cleaning retro consoles, the original Game Boy is a great place to start. It's easy to take apart, the inside is very simple, and it's unlikely that you would break anything. Nice work, Elliot!

Where to get LCD for GB?
Game Game I’d rather start with a game color or pocket, cause my first console I opened up was an advance sp then a color then pocket and the the original. I find that color and pocket were a lot less complicated as they only had 1 mother board... but yeah, that’s just my opinion tho
@@OutrideMaro You're not wrong! It's definitely simpler to only deal with one motherboard, and aside from that, the process is pretty similar to a DMG. So yeah, pretty much anything in the Game Boy/Color/Advance line shouldn't give you too much of a challenge.
Changed the screen on an iphone 6s and the camera module on an iphone 5 before... easier or harder than this?

I just bought a bunch of High Quality Replacement Labels for the Game Boy DMG-01 Console in this video from a seller on eBay named Game Boy Color Man. He has every single replacement label for every Game Boy, Pocket, Color, Light, Advance, Advance SP, Micro N64, and SNES! For this DMG-01, he has the Battery Door Label, Serial Number Label, and Bar Code Label. And they are top quality American Made! Nothing like the toilet paper quality you'll find from other sellers that sell Chinese labels. The dude is awesome! The labels look fantastic and fit perfectly down to the millimeter. The packaging is amazing, and the dude also threw in a whole bunch of free kick ass Dishwasher Safe Die Cut Stickers! Check out his store if your Game Boy looks beat up and needs new labels! Or if you just need a smile put on your face. Honestly the coolest eBay purchase I ever made! He even ships to all 50 states and the Entire Globe!

I've just turned on my own Gameboy from 1989. Not played it in over 25 years. It worked straight away. God they knew how to make lasting handheld consoles back then

Finding a Game Boy with a battery cover is like finding a DS with its stylus; whether it be aftermarket or OEM.

Duuuude the the camera angles and the music during reassembly... that was sooo fucking relaxing to watch. Amazing refurb work. Link's awakening for the GB also on my personal top 10 games of all time.
Just bought the non dx version of links awakening and reliving my childhood on GBA I modded with the AGS 101 screen! You've really inspired my to try and fix some old tech I've got round the house, like an old Sony minidisc player and an oldish iPod touch that needs some soldering! Keep up the great work!

I have not seen a single comment about the sinc between the audio and the montage, realy nice.
It is a good idea to wipe dry the alcohol with a clean dry qtip. Hard to tell in the videos if you are. Doing this gets the PCB cleaner and collects more of the grime before it dries again. Not that it is really going to hurt anything but it is good practice.

what you said about how Links Awakening on Switch is essentially the same game is exactly why I think 60 bucks is way over-priced.

make sure all fully screen line and turn down and up of small wheel contrast what you can see if little line fix again fully and clean of fully no yellow of body game boy 1989 :)

I wouldn't mind some home console repairs. I think you should start with Famicom/NES, as those are most likely to need repair.

Apologies if you have covered this in another video, but do you have any recommendations of a supplier of replacement lenses for the original Gameboy? Got one that I am restoring and the original lens is pretty beat up. Thanks in advance!
I would recommend finding the most accurate one on eBay, and I would recommend glass, as it won't scratch or shatter as easily as the one that's already on there. Just don't clean it with isopropyl alcohol. It'll damage the paint. I'd recommend Windex

You Didt a great job on this NGB, i have two banged up laying around here, by seeing this video opening them up and check it would not be that hard. Or do more damage to them (they dont boot up with batteries in it and i dont have a charger for it so i dont know if they realy work or not. Got them for free with a stack of games so not complaning :)

Why is it that when I deal with Game Boy units there's always gonna be one or two problems that NONE of the common fixes will actually fix... Like the stubborn dead pixel lines on the screen or battery corrosion that somehow merges the plastic and the metal slab

I actually fixed a DMG that wouldn't turn on, so that it would. It's perfectly functional (mind the horizontal line. Ugh.) I'm getting a new, black shell for it. I'm going to be making a video on the process
