This video shows non-ideal 1-v-1 showdowns of Scorpion variants against some of the best vehicles in Halo 5.
***If the standard Scorpion beats a vehicle, then higher req variants beat them also.
*Wraiths really only have a chance by 'arcing' their plasma blast over obstacles blocking near-by Scorpions. At distance, they are at a disadvantage.
*Standard Scorpion:
- great against land vehicles
- struggles against air vehicles
*ONI Scorpion:
- second to none in land combat
- better than standard Scorpion against air vehicles, but still struggles
*Hannibal Scorpion:
- dominates land vehicles
- dominates air vehicles
*"Safe Zone"
Unfortunately, there is a safe zone for air vehicles above all Scorpion variants. In this area you cannot be shot and, if skilled enough, you can exploit this zone and destroy virtually any Scorpion with any air vehicle.

Jesse JDM yeah it does. If you play the Ark, you use the tank to take out one of the legs, then destroy the back and that gives you a clear shot to the power core.

Yes is Halo 3, however if you are playing on Legendary difficultly the scarab can take out a tank in 1 or 2 shots (setting aside your skill level)
Also in Halo 2, since the scarab was used as a mining platform, it instantly destroyed anything in its path; pelicans, tanks, you name it

I made this video so you can get a general idea of where Scorpions dominate and where they struggle. I also hope you understand now why I do ‘ideal’ situations to test showdowns between vehicles - they virtually eliminate all experimental inconsistencies (aim, fire rate, skill, etc.). It honestly is the best way to determine which vehicles actually have the advantage. You can clearly see in this video that the person who aimed/shot/evaded better was usually the winner in these non-ideal scenarios; however, that DOES NOT signify that the vehicle was actually worse. More on this later.

For the gungoose and ghost it really depends on how quickly you can get next to a scorpion too because if you can get close enough, you cant get shot.

i have noticed that many people say it depends on skill level, but that's hardly a fair thing to say when the scorpion sets the skill bar this low.
Skill can change the outcome of any matchup, that doesn't mean the vehicle doesn't matter.

this video doesn't really apply to warzone because there is not nearly that much cover for air vehicles in any of the warzone maps

The ONI scorpion has no shell drop and fantastic shell velocity but it cant fix the driver's bad aim

i dont agree with the scorpion vs veichles , the skill on the gunners is all that matters, for example. the wraith ultra driver chooked 2 shoots in a row then hit you, if i was driving the wraith, i would shoot then ram, wich would make your tank canon point upwards, which means that i will only take 1 tank shot before the tank is dead.
Fair enough, keep in mind that I didn't show the ONI Scorpion vs Temple or Ultra Wraiths, but ONI beats them with ease. That would've been a more fair match up - top req Wraith variants vs top req Scorpion variants.
Also, the purpose of this video was for general understanding where Scorpions have an advantage/struggle. I always say that 1-v1's are determined by player skill not vehicle ability, so I agree with you on that man.
Yes, i think the best way to compare them would just been having both standing still and shooting at each other, Both costs 6 aswell and so does the regular and ultrararre scorpion but a oni is a overkill like you said so i agree, this would be unfair with the ghosts, but the movement and the small size is what makes the ghost so efficient, so the standing still thing only works with big veichles! thanks for a fast respond btw! i actualy did not except you reply at all!

A tank is generally better than a wraith. They both do the same damage, have the same health.. But the wraith is not suited for long range battles. The tank is suited for long range and close range

With the Original Scorpion from Halo:CE there was a coaxial machinegun. I think that should have been continued in Scorpion designs along with the addition of the Machinegun turret.

I think the Ultra wraith and Temple wraith comparison was inconsistent. The Ultra lost because the person firing kept missing, but the Temple won because they hit. By definition, the Ultra should have won as well if the shots had landed at that range. It does way more damage.
Absolutely, and I really don't like how this video turned out, honestly. I'm already planning another video because of this and the Ultra incident. It's a disgrace that I put that clip in the video and not a better 1v1.

That Hannibal scorpion has a terrifying gun, seems like it'd fry any pilot together with their plane
If I had to go with the best looking Scorpion, the Hannibal is the best looking in my opinion. I also think it's best for being used in an anti-air role, because the round hits the target instantly, preventing dodging.
The scorpion is just like all the other vehicles in Halo 5, where they are all best used in conjunction with other vehicles. My ideal assault is Wasp's for aerial support against Spartans, Phaetons and Banshees for anti-armour and interception, Warthogs for troop transport and escorting the heavier vehicles that are susceptible to boarding, tanks for anti-armour and suppressive fire, wraiths for suppressing targets, Mantises for escort and light armour, and ghosts for scouting. Gungooses and Mongooses wouldn't be used, as I find them to be outclassed in firepower by warthogs, and manoeuvrability by ghosts. That'd be my perfect setup for a large scale attack on a map with a low amount of barriers (basically, flat open land with some bases scattered around) . Of course, it'd require extreme cooperation and coordination, but if used correctly would be an unstoppable force.

It's actually quite easy to best a scorpion or wraith with a ghost. You just have to tailgate it from behind where it can't shoot you. Been doin' it like that since Halo 2.

So yes some vehicles can out move the scopion tank but you should really just do a 1v1 no one moves who ever dies first dies when you move around you have to account for human error what if the guy is brain dead them the tank beats nothing since I can just move around alot in a pattern the guy in the tank can't hit a perfect example was when the tank driver got out of the tank because he himself couldn't hit the piolet that was putting more shots into him when all it took was one little shot from the tank to take

Tbh in the overhead fights there are points where you would've been able to get it in your sights but on that level you would've fallen off the edge. I think in the course of a normal match, the tanks are gonna have enough support that they can safely range everything to hell

As a long time Battlefield player... I got that Wasp. Tank shells were made to take out little hovering shits like that.
that safe zone above the H5 Scorpion, is why the original design was superior. that and the old one could aim lower too, as well as fire over small rocks and get into good hull down positions.

the scorpion was only designed to take on the original vehicles in the series +/- small variations such as halo reach's cross between a ghost and wraith known as the revenant. the wasp was something akin to a much MUCH faster and smaller version of the hornet. due to this, the age of the design shows as you pit it against more vehicles that it wasn't originally designed for.
the aiming is even restricted to prevent the vehicle from aiming at things improperly, but proves to be a problem when going downhill as the gun's depression can go lower than the camera itself, which has never been changed, showing that the tank's programming was basically copy-pasted and then slightly edited to fit the particular game of Halo 5.
if we had the original version of the scorpion, nothing could beat it, as the turret-mounted chain gun could mitigate the slow projectile velocities of the main cannon, it was seen as too powerful for a one-man crew and thus was changed to have a machinegun turret seat on the hull instead.
Scorpions are overpowered, but if you're skillful in a fast vehicle then taking one down isn't so hard.

Colin Jones I believe a Gungooses is a good counter to tanks. They're tiny, this being hard to hit, they're faster, and they can't be hit if they're close.
I like how even a couple thousand years into the future, mankind still has not designed a tank that can shoot upwards.
Though let's be real, it'd be a waste of time and money to design tanks that can shoot upwards for the very rare and specific scenario of a lone tank trying to fight an aircraft.
It does irk me that they don't have like, a deployable super shield on top of them, or some other countermeasure against aerial bombardment, considering the sheer amount of spaceships/airships/giant space lasers that exist in the Halo universe. Hell, considering that the main enemy's tank (the wraith) has an arcing shot that will always land from above at range, I'm not sure why they haven't come up with something...

Hannibal Scorpion is the most powerful vehicle in the game, I think. Objectively speaking.
Though I think the BEST has to be either the Hannibal Wasp, Temple Banshee, Ultra Banshee, ONI Wasp or ONI Hog. Maybe the ONI Gauss or Sword Hog, too.
Personally, I prefer flying vehicles.

No ghost beats it. All it has to do is get as close to the turret as possible but not touch it, so I'd recommend going to the back. Than just hold the trigger
Ghosts can actually be such pricks when they get close to you in a tank. They can get inside of your minimum firing distance and move faster than your gun when right up close.
