As a life long thrifter, my #1 advice to my friends who are just starting is to ignore the tag. I'm also ~US16 and my wardrobe ranges from XS-3X. Sizes are a lie, especially with vintage clothes. I would never have found some of my most treasured items, if i simply looked at the tag and thought, "it's not my size". (Harder in the bins), but try on EVERYTHING you like, or at least up to your body, you'll be amazed what fits. Also, remember that nobody knows how that item is "supposed" to fit. I have XS "oversized" pieces that are "baby" on me, but that's how i like it and i get tons of compliments. Clothes are whatever you decide they are, so really look at them more objectively (don't beat yourself up about "sizes") and more like a world of dress up!
THIS. Yes, clothing sizes are an illusion. I finally started looking in all the size sections at thrift stores and I realized I can get away with wearing a wide range of sizes!
THIS is why I try everything on when thrifting. I have gotten things that are "too big for my size" every time I go thrifting!! You're so right, no one will know that shirt is meant to be fitted and it isn't!! Buy whatever you feel confident in. 💁🏼♀️💅🏻
"Reconnecting with things that made us happy when we were younger" just HIT ME. That is my entire vibe and you just succinctly put it into words, Carrie. Thank you!!! This explains why at 50+ I'm wearing and loving the baggy cargos, loose fit jeans, oversized flannels and grandpa sweaters, jorts, graphic tees, tiered maxis, Converse, and Docs that I lived in as a college student in the early 90's. 🥰🥰🥰
Yep, I am the same age and this is my vibe as well! Don't forget chokers and stocking hats, lol. I also have 80s preppy nostalgia from h.s. so when "coastal grandma" was big (is it still? who cares.) I was like, yeah, I have been dressing like Katherine Hepburn from On Golden Pond since I was 22, so I have BEEN there. And I still like a good loafer, blazer, plaid skirt, and beret--v preppy.
The fit of the red shirt looked so dang good on you. I feel like you don't have a lot of tight shirts with a low neckline but this type of style looks so elegant on you!
The bebe top looks SO good on you!! Totally relate to bebe being *luxury* when I was growing up. I used to have "that aunt" when I was growing up - childless, unmarried, fabulous style, and always traveling. She's since passed, but she always used to take me on epic shopping trips and we'd stop in her "fancy" stores like bebe, express, white house black market, etc. She got my 12 year old self some bebe pieces and I felt like THAT GIRL. I'm sure I still have mirror selfies from the bebe fitting room on an old flip phone!
I always wondered what you meant by “wash and sanitize”, so thanks for explaining! I thrift a lot but always just wash clothes. I’ve never had an issue but I also just don’t really worry/think about that stuff 😂
So glad you found some gems at the bins! I'm doing "No-spend November" right now and it's hard lol. So I'm glad someone got to go out and thrift some awesome clothes.
everything you got looks so so good on you! that first brown top is stunning, and i would loveeee to see you pair the red bebe top with the jeans, i think it would look incred!
Love when you take us along for the thrifting trips. I think i would love a sitdown chat video where you share with us thrift tips. What to bring/ just start to finsih your process. You could even collab with alexa on it. That would be cool. I also love your de-influencing videos too.
I still have my lilac purple square neck BEBE sweater. I love it and even though I haven’t worn it in over 18 years… it still brings me joy seeing it hang in my closet.
I’d love to see more estate sale ones but like from the very beginning, you scrolling through what they offer, you choosing and signing up for one, so we can get an idea of how it’s done :)
I worked in a thrift store for over 4 years. When you come across yellow stains all over. Oven cleaner spray on stain let set for a few minutes and wash. Works on silk too
I love your Bebe top too! I kept a Bebe cowl neck sweater and tank with the rhinestone letters from the late 90’s (when I first bought them). They make me happy too! Great video, Carrie! ❤
I want all of it! So cute! I am getting so motivated to go thrifting again 😍 I've been looking for those shorts for so long honestly looks so good on you
omg 19:38 my grandpa LITERALLY had those shorts... i'd say they were his pair but his were much dirtier lmao but like... they were exactly that style ahaha
I love that bebe shirt as a fellow 30 something year old. And I totally agree with us Re connecting with what made us happy when we were younger! I have a 9 month old and I have started doing things with him that I loved doing as a kid! It’s been so fun! Not saying you have to have a kid to do that but it’s been my experience and he’s helped me remember my youth a lot more!
OMG I miss going to the Goodwill clearance store. I found it when I was in film school in Orlando and it was the best find ever but it's closed and I haven't seen another one. But patience is needed and I gave myself a time limit because they were always bringing new stuff out!
If you want a larger size of the TLC shirt (though I don't think you need one) - it's just from Target. I have the same one and love it :) PS. Does Drew watch Attack on Titan? Is he excited for the finale?
You looked great in everything! Especially the tlc and the spongebob shirts, those were so fun! I don’t think you need to change the tlc shirt honestly, it looked good how it was if you feel comfy in it!
Lol I love those style of men shorts. they are so cute and comfortable. I actually found them in a dark wash as well. Men shorts look pretty adorable sometimes 😊 just gotta keep searching
I always wondered why gloves?? But then this year at a thrifting event near me, I got the rash of all rashes all over my arm and side/belly 🙃 prolly just wear a wetsuit and gloves any time I thrift again lol
@@alliwantisquietI mean, if those pillowcases have bed bugs they would be throughout all the clothes in the bin. But I get the mental hurdle of putting your face repeatedly on things from the bins.
I agree with it maybe being the thought of bedbugs or possibly other contagions, like ring worm. That said, a good long sanitizing wash with detergent, Borax, and hot water will kill anything like that. You can even do a double wash and then dry in a hot dryer just to be sure. I LOVE the super soft, all cotton vintage sheets and pillowcases when I find them so I've done this dozens of times. It's worth it to me because nothing feels the same imo.
One of my tias best tips that she taught me is to put anything you want or think someone else might want and just add it to your cart. Then at the end when you dont want to search anymore you get together with your friends and share your finds. I saved a lot of time and got to the next bins quicker!
Oh gosh, Heather and I went to the bins once in Rockford. I was not impressed.... Junk Junk Junk. I have to give you credit for digging through that stuff to find a treasure.
jujutsu kaisen super popular specially right now. Definetly a great grab! Also I feel like i'm still in love with guess and bebe. haha TLC shirt biggest win
Commencing first video play while I work and 2nd play will begin after I get all cozied up in bed with my knitting needles...fully embracing my late thirties!!!😂❤
I went to my local goodwill bins in Seattle today. It was so much fun but very overwhelming. I could only stay for about an hour. I can’t wait to go back.

also.. that medium shirt fitted just fine?
Yes definitely! I never look at sizes when I'm thrifting because there's way too much difference between brands
THIS is why I try everything on when thrifting. I have gotten things that are "too big for my size" every time I go thrifting!! You're so right, no one will know that shirt is meant to be fitted and it isn't!! Buy whatever you feel confident in. 💁🏼♀️💅🏻

Please don't mess with the TLC shirt. It looks good as it 😭

That bebe top is EVERYTHING on you!!
Same with the jeans 😍
I SCREAMED when I saw you in the Bebe top! 😍 such a great haul✨
I love it when you go to the bins with Alexa and Karina! That Bebe shirt is awesome for the holidays!!
The bebe shirt is SO good! Also kind of gives me a giggle bc it reminds me of Moira from Schitts Creek saying bebe like "baybay"
Karina is a Carrie-and-Drew whisperer for sure!!! The TLC shirt is EPIC omgggg
Do not give Drew that 90s inspo shirt 😂 it fits you perfectly!!!
Take a shot anytime Carrie says “we’ll talk about it later” 🤣🤣
Those jorts were meant for you! So cute. I haven’t been thrifting in years but you are making me want to try it again.
I always wondered what you meant by “wash and sanitize”, so thanks for explaining! I thrift a lot but always just wash clothes. I’ve never had an issue but I also just don’t really worry/think about that stuff 😂
Right I should be better about sanitizing stuff but I just wash it how I normally would 😅
The second I see a Carrie video pop up, I’m hoping onto RUclips and watching no matter what it is ❤
Your thrifting videos are so fun! Your outfit ideas also inspire me to “thrift” my own closet and try using pieces in ways I hadn’t thought of.
“It’s not for everyone, but it is for me.” ❤❤❤ love it!!!
So glad you found some gems at the bins! I'm doing "No-spend November" right now and it's hard lol. So I'm glad someone got to go out and thrift some awesome clothes.
Oh my god I need to do that, I’ve already spent a decent amount of money and the month barely started 😫
@PixiePrinses I feel you. I've already strayed away from it for a couple of things and I'm only 5 days into doing it lol.
I'm going to do that! I have been spending money with abandon lately.
@Ginmabes good luck to you! It's not easy but I think it's worth it.
the yankees rain jacket JEALOUS
That Bebe shirt is actually so cute I love the color and off the shoulder on you!
everything you got looks so so good on you! that first brown top is stunning, and i would loveeee to see you pair the red bebe top with the jeans, i think it would look incred!
I love the idea of videos where you style thrift finds.

Miss getting more videos from you. Sending much love and comfort in your hard times Carrie.
love watching the three of you thrift together! And that Bebe top looks soo good on you!
I'd love to see a styling our finds together clip with the friends you thrift with & you can have input on styling each other
TLC No Scrubs was number one when I was born! That shirt is such a gem!!
I love any of your thrifting videos, but I especially look forward to your estate sale ones! Good finds!
I worked in a thrift store for over 4 years. When you come across yellow stains all over. Oven cleaner spray on stain let set for a few minutes and wash. Works on silk too

Zack from saved by the bell would 💯 % wear the striped shirt. A vibe.
I had the EXACT thought! I was instantly like Zack Morris
You looked great in everything! Especially the tlc and the spongebob shirts, those were so fun! I don’t think you need to change the tlc shirt honestly, it looked good how it was if you feel comfy in it!
Bebe top looks so good on you! The neckline is chef's kiss❣
The red bebe shirt looks soooooo good on you!! Damn!! 👌🏻
Last time I was at the bins I found a 4t vintage Telletubies shirt and a nwt leggings from fabletics ~
You could totally still wear that skeleton pajama top! good thing, Halloween doesn't ACTUALLY doesn't end until like days before Thanksgiving! lol
I would have fun if it was a bin of books. Clothes maybe just depends on my mood that day.
The bins are so much fun!
I just got that same TLC shirt at my goodwill last week what 😭twins!!
You wear clothes very well.Thank you for showing how wearable thrifted clothes are. I have been Goodwill shopping since the early 80's.❤

I always wondered why gloves?? But then this year at a thrifting event near me, I got the rash of all rashes all over my arm and side/belly 🙃 prolly just wear a wetsuit and gloves any time I thrift again lol
Whattttt??? So sorry that happened to you. What rash was it & how did you get it to go away?
@@sofiaangstrom no idea what it was. Red flat spots, not itchy. They went away with pretty much no treatment in like a month.
@@haileypowers7328bed bugs maybe 🤔
I never watched Sponge Bob but that tshirt is so cute on you! And love the Jujutsu Kaisen find 😂🙌
Those pillowcases are what I have on my bed right now! 🤣💚
They're from macys or costco - I forget!
Omg this is such an amazing haul!!! Everything looks perfect on you (:
Why would pillow cases be any different than clothing? They can be washed and sanitized also.....
Maybe bed bugs? Just guessing
That was my thought also. If you’re washing with a sanitizer and hot/warm water it shouldn’t be any different than the clothing items.
@@alliwantisquietI mean, if those pillowcases have bed bugs they would be throughout all the clothes in the bin. But I get the mental hurdle of putting your face repeatedly on things from the bins.
Mentally I would not be ok with someone else's bedding. Clothes and stuff ok. But bedding no thank you. Lol

Oh gosh, Heather and I went to the bins once in Rockford. I was not impressed.... Junk Junk Junk. I have to give you credit for digging through that stuff to find a treasure.
i'm 45, last weekend i basically dressed like Emily the strange to go see to see a Dracula comedy. wear whatever brings u joy
