Along my knitting journey, I have come across some tips in dealing with wool. As others have said, don't put it in the dryer. Try putting in in a ziplock bag and putting it in the freezer overnight. Do this after every wash and air dry. Wash it as little as possible, but when you need to, dry it on a flat surface. Hope this helps. The sweater is fabulous!
another tip: get a washing liquid with lanolin in it to hand-wash your wool! Lanolin is the grease that is naturally in wool. Adding it back in is like conditioner for your wool sweaters and helps their longevity
That Aran sweater unlocked a memory in my head about Mina Le's video "clothes are so much worse now" including exacly this brand 😄 These sweaters are actually quite pricey but good quality so great deal!
Dont put Merino in the dryer! Merino and angora shed but are very warm That bomber is the bomb, for 10 dollar, score!!! Thank you for taling us along and sharing
Try soaking your sweater in woolite and then laying flat to try, woolite should tighten the wool up some and minimize the fly away pieces! I would steer clear of the dryer it would likely shrink
Omg I love the QE2 hat! I have a 7 year old girl and 6 year old boy and they know if they want me to sit down and watch a movie with them they can put on The Parent Trap! I don’t care if I’ve seen it a million times I’ll still watch it and love it every time ❤ RIP Natasha Richardson 😢
I wash my wool sweaters with a tiny bit of woolite and hair conditioner. I dont wash all conditioner out. Works for shedding and also if you accidentally shrink a sweater
that white tiered maxi skirt would be so perfect as a petticoat to mix up any other maxi dresses/skirts that you have that you want to revamp with some more poof. so cute!
The campy camo shirt is definitely the type of fit that my friends talk about her in NYC where it’s cool if you wear it around here or LA but in places like the boonies you can’t😂
Carrie, I died when you held up the MARC hat……MARC is the acronym for Mid American Research Chemical, it appears that the emblem coincides. I am the clerk-treasurer for a municipality, we order supplies from them🤣
Fun fact as well , The shape of the details on the Irish fishing sweater may represent a family crest/ name. You can order a sweater with your families "knotting " there is a very cool history too the Irish fishing sweater made on the ARRAN Islands
Don't throw the wool sweater in the dryer. (Don't use the dryer if you can hang clothes outside, saves on the garment) Give it a shake outside.. it's a mystery for me that all of the thrift youtubers I watch complain about itchy and shedding wool..never had that experience. (Well yes its not super soft, but I find wool so warm and nice I don't mind it )
Honestly I think most people just don't know how to launder and properly care for delicate fabrics. Not saying it as a jab or anything, laundry is a skill you have to learn. I'm 30 and just learned this year you're supposed to leave the washing machine open to dry when you're done using it.
You can wash the sweater with a cup of white vinegar and it will reduce the flyaways I don't know if this is a permanent fix but it's definitely improved sweater shedding for me in the past! And I'm in a heavy winter climate
I'm from the UK, we call flea markets 'Car boot sales' & I would HAPPILY fly across to the USA to experience your carboot sales because they look AMAZING!!!! So jeleous!
Love all the finds. That wool sweater was a great find. Try using leather conditioner on any rough patches on the coat. Sounds like the coat might just be drying out due to age and use.
They make those sweaters still . you need to get them at Irish import stores or buy them online.but I WARN YOU, you will be obsessed with the items online. $10 is A FANTASTIC PRICE . They are new around $200 .
I tried to buy an Aran sweater when I was in Galway a few month ago and not a single one felt soft. But all felt well made and didn’t shed much. I couldn’t get past the scratchy fabric but the store owner said they dry their sweaters in the sun. Idk if that helps.
I have a sweater from that same company that I actually got on my honeymoon in Ireland and the lady who sold it to us said you could dry on low heat in like a delicates/garment bag to help with the shedding!
From my friend's and I's experience if it hurts to break in you doc's it's because they are the wrong size. We both sized down (normally 7 1/2 so we got 7s) and had no issues with breaking in the feet. I just needed to break in the points of the uppers which wearing long socks or skinny jeans helps.
Do not put the merino wool in the dryer. It will ruin. Best to wash with cold water and use a wool wash detergent. I have lots of merino wool jumpers and they last really well, they will shed but that's the nature of pure wool
The wool sweater is such a find! I've been looking for a aran/fisherman style jumper for years at this point. I wouldn't put it in the drier, it might felt? I didn't understand if by shedding you mean it has fly-awyas like mohair? In that case putting it in the freezer overnight should help 🤔
Those Frye boots are my aunts faaaave boots. She has them for years at a time and just keeps getting them lmao I have chonky calves, so can’t wear but she swears by them
this was the first pair of frye's i've even been CLOSE to getting on my calves so i feel you 😂 i wish i knew the style so i could search online but fingers crossed i find a similar pair!
The Moo shirt is the best thing ever. Like who says “I love moo” that doesn’t even make any sense unless you’re talking about Moo. Edit: That’s the wackiest Canadian flag I’ve ever seen 😂 Edit 2: ohhh I love moo like I love you. Still. I stand by my original thought. Lol
Omggggg you introduced me to sample sale world. As someone who lives in LA and loves clothes, it's very dangerous haha. Hope to meet you at one, one day! :)
I love those black corduroy pants you found!! Literally obsessed! Would it be weird to ask what size you got in them? I want to try to search for some secondhand online! I found some stretchy waist ones, but it bothers me that they don't have belt loops. I wore a crop top and beige cardigan with my black corduroy pants for Thanksgiving! They would also be super cute with a sweater!!
i'm gonna say something controversial...i wash them 😬 i know you're not supposed to though so don't listen to me and ruin something!!! but i'm a germaphobe and i have to wash everything - i have leather conditioner that i use after washing and i've never had a problem, although sometimes it looks a bit more wrinkly and stiff out of the wash at first!
Please DON'T put that Irish wool sweater in dryer. It will shrink it and can destroy stitch work. I recommend hand washing with wool wash and dry it flat so it doesnt stretch. Ive found hand washing removes a lot more of the particles. Or i just live with them. (I have a collection of Irish wool sweaters... I love them!)
The “I love Moo” shirt is my favorite thing out of your whole haul! ❤️🐈⬛🐮
It looks like your sweet animal friends are sending you signs to let you know they’re still with you. 🥹💚🙏🏼🐶🐱
🥺💞 thank you so much for saying this
I agree 🐈⬛🐕

Video idea: can you shop your closet and make a winter "capsule" wardrobe and style each piece a few different ways? :)
Carrie, the camo top is LITERAL camp 😂
Marc is a train from DC to Maryland! lol
That Miss Honey dress 😍
The wool sweater is such a find!
I've been looking for a aran/fisherman style jumper for years at this point.

@@CarrieDayton I think they’re called “harness boots” or moto? They deffo have them on their website and I think they’re in wide calf too
That Aran sweater is quite expensive!!!! You got a hell of a deal!!!!
Take a shot every time Carrie says “vintage” 😂
The Moo shirt is the best thing ever. Like who says “I love moo” that doesn’t even make any sense unless you’re talking about Moo.

The only MARC that I know is the commuter train system in Marylans.😂
Such a fun video, and it makes me want to go thrifting (as always) ❤
Omggggg you introduced me to sample sale world. As someone who lives in LA and loves clothes, it's very dangerous haha. Hope to meet you at one, one day! :)
Absolutely love the finds this time. ❤❤ I’ve always been curious. What’s the bathroom situation like at the rose bowl? I’ve always wanted to go
There’s a restroom right when you walk in to the left! I think there may be others in different parts, but that’s the one we always go in!
Moo and Leila love you too Carrie :D i'm choked up right now because I LOVE ANIMALS and so i feel the pain. i am so sorry for your loss Carrie ❤💔
Can you talk about how you clean your thrifted leather jackets? I always want to thrift them but know I’ll never take them to the dry cleaners 😅
i'm gonna say something controversial...i wash them 😬 i know you're not supposed to though so don't listen to me and ruin something!!! but i'm a germaphobe and i have to wash everything - i have leather conditioner that i use after washing and i've never had a problem, although sometimes it looks a bit more wrinkly and stiff out of the wash at first!

Have the wool sweater dry cleaned. That may help get rid of the loose fibers.
I'm so early!! ❤❤❤
My dad's name is Marc, so I should try to find a hat like that, haha!
THE MEXICAN SOCCER JERSEYS 😭
