The Singer/Songwriter Helix patch is perfect for guitar players who sing. It processes your acoustic guitar and vocals (via the microphone input) and outputs them separately. You get high quality and polished vocal and acoustic guitar effects straight out of your Helix.
HELIX LT Users: The Helix LT does not have a microphone input, so to use this patch with a mic, you'll need to purchase a separate mic preamp like the Art Tube MP preamp here: www.sweetwater.com/store/deta...

WHAT an amazing starting point for me! This has taken hours off my planning for gigs and will allow me to play much sooner! Thank you!
Fab, thanks so much for doing this.
Hi Brian,
You just nailed!!!!!
I’m a pastor and worship leader and sometimes I go to small churches and in most of the times there’s no one who knows how to operate the soundboard !!!!
I wanna by it
Thank you for the amazing work!!!
Excellent, will def get this one, thanks Brian
Thank you for sharing. I almost bought another pedal for vocals without realizing it was already available on my Helix 🤙🏼🤙🏼
That patch is worth every penny :-) great deal. love the patch :-)
I dont like my vocal sounding overly processed but I love the idea of running some EQ and verb on it through the helix.. can't wait to try this out!
Awesome, thumbs up!
You folks are truly doing the lord's work spreading Helix goodness all around! Thank you!
Now I really need a Helix!!
Thank you.
Muito bom! Gosto muito dos seus vídeos!
Nice! As a worship leader at small church, this is perfect! Thanks man!
Every time I get away from really wanting to buy this, you post another video to make me feel like I need it. Just soo much money just for acoustic. Good video as always
Joel Berrier I'm right there with you... I just invested a lot into a tube amp and pedalboard so I convinced myself I wouldn't need it for electric, but now knowing I can do this with my acoustic and vocals...... dang
I’m stuck between just getting a Strymon BigSky or bluesky just to add a little more or go all out for this.
not a worship guy, but I found a lot of value in your videos my friend! Greetings from Austria!
Great video Brother! Saluts from Belgium!
I think a lot of time, we think of Line 6 for guitar and maybe Bass processing, but, they built A LOT of studio outboard gear, console preamps, effects, and other bits in there. It really is a complete solution to use with your DAW. I'd be willing to bet you could build a mastering stack with it too.
Should be at NAMM shows, doing demos, great stuff.
I think I may have to get this one. Who am I kidding? I'm getting this one.
You got Chubby😊
Can you do a John Mark McMillan Artist Series Helix Patches?? I think it would sound so so good.
Does this work with Helix LT? Also, do you have the “basic board” for the LT. I just got a new Associate Pastor/Worship job and will be playing a lot of electric, your transition and sweet patches came to mind right away. Thanks.
Thanks a lot for your helpful infos! Can you tell us what your inEar setup looks like?
Hi, just bought this, thanks, sounds great! New to Helix and having problems with Snapshot. When I press the 2 bank buttons together to bring up snapshots they are just flashing and won’t stay on, goes back to preset, the sound is changing but I can’t keep hitting the 2 buttons with my feet to bring snapshots on when I want to change, do you know what I’m doing wrong? Thanks
I’ve bought the patch and the soft vocals snapshot is great. Would the big vocals snapshot be suited to a high fairly light part near the end of the song? I wouldn’t be ‘singing big’ but want to fatten up a head voice part
Well, this is the first time I wish I had gone with the Floor model over the LT. I suppose I'll be getting one of those mic preamps here soon. :)
Paul Nehrkorn so, I’m considering buying the LT and was wondering how plugging in the pre amp worked. Isn’t there only one input on the LT?
@@loganarowland Yea that is what I was wondering too. Plus he said in the video XLR out of the preamp to XLR in of the Helix Lt. The is no XLR in on the helix lt.
Hope there will be a free patch for this.
Okay, so I'm new to Helix and I got this patch. How do I know if I want to upload the *UNITY GAIN* or the *HALF GAIN* ?
I think you can use it on the LT without a physical mic preamp. Just get an XLR to 1/4” cable and run your mic into the return. Then just put in the mic pre amp in your chain in the physical Helix. I haven’t tried it yet but that would make sense to me.
Does the LT have the mic preamp? I thought it didn't.
Adam Wright a model of one yeah. Not a physical one but there is a model of a mic pre-amp in the Helix.
Wouldn't you need an actual Preamp to get the signal into the helix, though?
did you try?
Hi Brian! I've bought it. It sounds amazing. The only problem I have is that there is no tone with headphones (headphone output). Only on the Outputs for FOH but there came nothing with headphones. What is the problem? Best Wishes, I hope for your answer.
Is possible do that with a helix lt and instead of use art mic tube use an console mixer? How would be the chain of connection?
Can you guys please do “Remind me who I am” by Jason Gray!!!!!
Hi Brian, vocal patch is really amazing! I appreciate it.
But what about a female voice. Which parameters would you change? I mean just general guidelines
Nice video! Would this work if i’m in a rock band situation? I mean, running the mic the same as you but running the guitar with other pedals, amps and that stuff?
I'm not able to get the acoustic guitar to work on this patch on my helix, the mike works well, I need help
Hey guys! If I have helix LT ¿Can I just use the digital mic pre-amp that comes within the unit?
Hey Brian just so you know there is no xlr input in the Helix LT. Ran into this problem this past week. I went and bought a female xlr to male quarter inch. The LT only has quarter inch inputs.Just thought I would let you know :) Thanks for all you do!
Zach, thanks for the info. Does the adaptor need to be balanced?
Also where did you plug it into, and does that require a new signal path? Thanks in advance!!
Also, could you just buy the cable instead of the mic preamp then? Since the newest firmware has a mic preamp anyway?
Could you make a patch like this for line 6 pod hd500x?
Nice patch thank you!:) If one wants an additional vocal path for a second singer.....would it be possible?
You can do up to 4 separate signal paths! The only downside is that there's only one xlr Jack on the helix so the second mic would need to go xlr to 1/4 inch input. But it's definitely possible
Will it do vocal harmony according to guitar chords played? Like a TC play acoustic?
No.... Helix doesn’t have that feature to analyze the guitar chords and adjust the harmonies...
However, you could put an intelligent harmonizer in the effects loop
Brian, I didn't have time to read all the comments so forgive me if this has already been answered. When you are talking about the Snapshots you skip from 2 to 4. Can you tell me what is set up for Snapshot 3 please? Thank you.
I have the LT and a small mixer at home. I'm assuming that I could go Mic -> Mixer -> LT xlr in without buying the recommended Mic preamp. I assume the Mic Preamp/Di box might be better/easier away from home.
LT only has XLR out?
@@letterpool No it has xlr and 1/4" with two 1/4" send/returns and the aux out. But I think I know what you are saying. I would need to go 1/4" in from one of the returns for the mic input. I guess I would have to go Mic into Mixer, Mixer effects out to Helix 1/4" return into the Mic setup and then 1/4" send back into the effects return of the mixer and it might work. Don't know that I'm savvy enough to really set it up with the mixer and I'm sure an inexpensive mic preamp would be easier.
LT xlrs are outputs.
hi. im unable to see/ turn on or off the effect? what stomp mode do I need
Can this do live vocal auto tuning and harmonies? I'm guessing not. I'm wondering if a dedicated vocal unit might be more useful.
Does the helix have pitch correction capabilities for vocals?
Sounds great! How to use this with HX Stomp please?
Thanks! The HX Stomp doesn’t have enough effects blocks to do a patch like this, but we do have an acoustic patch for it.
hello worship tutorials, I want you to send greetings to all the people of Peru, and I invite you to my country to enjoy the rich ceviche, please my heart.
How can I keep the mic on when I switch to other patches?
Can I play my own guitar presets and use this vocal preset to sing and play at the same time?
So the vocal mic works perfectly, but i'm getting no signal from the guitar. It works on every other patch but as soon as I go to this patch it's gone completely. Any ideas?
could be just a difference between the beta and the room mic, but it seems like a big cut has been taken off the vocal low end
Yeah - usually that’s what you want in a live vocal mic. Also you’re hearing the difference between a high end condenser through UAD and Waves plugins vs a dynamic mic through the Helix. It’s not really a fair fight :)
Brian, is it possible to mix both vocals and guitar through one output? If so, this would be perfect for pop-up ministry...run everything to 1 amp.
Yes you can set both signal chains to go out the same output. You’d just need to find a way to mix them - the easiest would be to use a compressor output setting for each chain to raise/lower the volume of guitar or vocals.
@@worshiptutorialswhat do you mean by compressor output setting?
Is it also possible to make the guitar go out the left XLR and the vocals the right XLR?
Maybe Panning ?
There is no xlr input in LT, neither an extra line input, so the option with the preamp makes no sense to me.. I think You made a mistake in the video, cause You mentioned an xlr input in LT (5.32), which does not exist.. I thought that maybe You meant another jack 1/4 input, but there is only one for guitar.. I found this video cause I was looking for info, how Helix can work with a microphone and voice, but now I know, it has only to do with the floor version. Unless.. Is it possible to use the return plugs as extra inputs? It actually says so on line 6 website.. But.. for mic? With jack? Hmm.. Anyone checked it out? I am about to buy the LT version and it would be awesome to put mic through it...
Radek Bekieler
I was wondering the same thing. I bought the LT almost two month ago. Now I’m wishing I would have just got the full fledged model 😔
@@magicdudegary Super late, but you can get an XLR to 1/4 inch transformer
@@owenferguson4316 How does that overcome the 1 input problem?
I'm in the same situation. Did you buy the lt were you able to use the return plugs for a vocal mic?
@@wakerue5324 Honestly.. Somehow... I lost my interest for Helix.. So, I did not make more research on that subject.. And maybe it's good to wait even longer for some new gear, since we already have something like Neural DSP with 2 xlr/jack inputs. ;) Or maybe someone will make a very multifunctional device for guitar, bass, vocal and other instruments together with a great two or three tracks loop station in it.. That would be fun for me. Carrying all in one great sounding digital device on stage.. Hmm.. ;)
I tried this patch this morning and found that there was a hissing sound on the vocal channel that didn't exist when I bypassed the helix. Acoustic patches sounded great though. Any tips on how to troubleshoot?
Carl Osborn me too. Did you ever find a fix for it?
@@davidthrasher8518 no. TBH I haven't used the patch since I added this comment.
Carl Osborn did you find another one to use that’s similar?
@@davidthrasher8518 no I just haven't spent the time to figure it out
Do you have a podgo one
But there is no XLR in on the Helix Lt 🤔
Have you made one of these patches for the Stomp?
Stomp the Yard
Welp.... now I gotta start saving for a Helix
Yes! The Helix is extremely useful
Worship Tutorials really finding the LT model more appealing, but is the floor just less hassle not having to have an extra preamp etc?
You won't regret it! I haven't turned on a "real amp" (Mesa Dual Rect, Fender Bassman, and others) since I bought the Helix last year.
Be nice if it would include harmonies too but I guess the patch would be a lot of work! As much as I like the TC VoiceLive the guitar effects are poor.
I'll never understand why anyone needs to mention "worship" when discussing topics in music and sound. It's just music and has nothing to do with where it's performed or for which philosophical reason. Stop pandering. As a musician, I simply ignore musicians who have to refer to the term worship. It has no particular relevance to music theory.
Because it’s aimed at a certain demographic. Don’t be made cause you’re not their target audience. Take something valuable away from it and move on.
There is an XLR input on the Helix LT??? Where?
There isn’t one on the LT. Only on the big Helix.
Worship Tutorials Right, at 5:30 you mentioned the XLR in of a helix LT...😕 But I understand what you meant (use the effect return input block). Thanks for the shout out to LT users! Another great video.
Brien Carr oh sorry - I meant 1/4” input. That’s why you need the external mic preamp.
Worship Tutorials how does this work exactly? Planning on purchasing the LT and a mic pre amp but I’m not really sure how to run the two together.
@@worshiptutorials But you'd need the 1/4 inch input for the guitar
Were you saying we can use the return input block?
Proximity effect because you're on the mic. Back off 1.5"
You literally said at 5:30 "run it out of the XLR output and into the XLR input of your Helix LT." Problem? There is no XLR input on the Helix LT!!!
And literally 30 seconds before he says it won't work on an LT because there is no mic preamp. I think its pretty obvious it was a slip of the tongue
Danny Whittingham
Yeah but he was still saying that you can run the mic pre INTO the LT. Maybe he means that you can run the mic pre into one of the return inputs.
Exactly what I was thinking! Wonder if the mic pre can be run into the one of the returns on the LT. I should have got the floor instead of the LT 😔
@@magicdudegary did you try buying a mic pre and running it into the return?
So many on desks are technicians not musicians. The weak link in the chain, can totally make or break the finished product.
The problem with this Helix approach is that you soundcheck in an empty room, then 1 or 2 hundred human sound baffles come in the room and it totally changes everything - acoustics, volume, resonance, frequencies. And you're on stage with in ears or monitors and you have no clue what it's sounding like out front unless you physically go and listen in the audience (I've done it!).
A desk operator who is bothered, knowledgeable and musical is the best. But, yes, this is great for smaller venues where the desk is poor. Take long leads (or loop what your playing/singing) so you can get down and hear the house speakers.
I like that...2nd
Hi, I'm ShineChiharu.
Since it's a dream to collaborate, can you collaborate?
wtf.... the one I just purchased looks nothing like yours?
I have to say mate, top points for effort… but what do I say here… sometimes less is more😬. This was a demonstration of how not to use your helix for vocals. I mean no offence man honestly, you could learn this in a day and get a great vocal tone with just a little more experimenting. Especially for you worship boys…. Did you know some reverb pedals have a setting called ‘church’? No kidding. Use your environment to your advantage. Your church (unless for some reason has a flat roof) IS the reverb pedal for your voice.
First
Glad I didn’t sell my Scarlett now that I know my LT is inferior for mics.
I can’t see a cotton pickin thing this man is saying
Dirty, i thought the patch was on line 6 site, DIRTY LITTLE.......
Dirty little what? ...
I use a Hybrid is it possible to run 2 guitar signals (Electric and Acoustic) and a vocal?
