I used to be a custom applicator in michigan before I retired. Lol. I've painted a lot of acres yellow with Eptam, Sonoran, and Treflan pre forefible beans of all colors. Great content and may God reward your efforts with good crops

If I remember correctly, the yellow active ingredient in Sonalan was first developed as a paint dye but it didn’t work well for that. It was then found to be good for weed control. Maybe someone else knows more of that story.

Green beans are even worse. You have green giant, del monte etc telling you when to plant a they harvest the crop and they have a rep at each field to make sure the crop is planted to their standards. Also the field has to be irrigated.

Thanks to Eric for explaining a lot of the fertilizer and spraying techniques and such. Good job Eric.

Sonolan must be a derivative of Treflan, one of the first herbicides for soybeans. It came out yellow and had to be incorporated ASAP. Quite the task for a JD 720 pulling a 14 ft disk. Only a 30 ft sprayer though.

      Pivots make it easier.
But you have a ton of money in them.
I grew up farming in sand country of central Wisconsin. We irrigated 90% of days from summer to harvest.
Would pump irrigation ponds so dry we would have to stop irrigation to let the springs refill them.

I image laying out cheap pipe and leaving in place and then going around manually with a pump as required with the 4 wheeler. Might be a chore but might buy you time on the worst patches of your fields.
