    Doesn't the hot mud shrink a little on your seams though? Just subbed, great work! I was surprised to hear you recommend Super Paint. I recently had to use it and the flashing was terrible, even after priming and rolling it properly. I always use Duration or Emerald now, I forgot how much harder the Super Paint was to work with. I have had weird issues with it bubbling up too, even when patches are spot primed.✌️

    • @thedrywalltech
      @thedrywalltech  22 дня назад +1

      @@skhateanddestroy1252 really!? That’s interesting. I’ve been really using it a lot the last couple years and haven’t had any issues. I’m actually editing a video right now about how to paint my patch work so I can send it to the homeowner after I’m done. And I’m using super paint with no primer first. Was it a textured wall or smooth? The bubbling is usually a drywall issue with dust in my experience. Yes with 20 min I will never do Just one coat. 20 min and 40 min shrinks a lot compared to 5. And thank you for the sub!

    • @skhateanddestroy1252
      @skhateanddestroy1252 22 дня назад

      @thedrywalltech Interesting, I use a lot of 20 so that must be why mine always shrinks so much, thanks for the tip! I mostly paint so I am always happy to learn more about drywall stuff. This last job I did everything right, spot primed patches, wiped the walls down, no dust, all mud dried over night before priming etc.. It was one of those walls where the light shines in such a way you have to get it perfect. I had the bubbling issue a lot when I would try to use it without primer, then I started spot priming with latex primer, same thing. The only thing that really worked was using cover stain to spot prime. That's when I just said screw it and started using mostly Duration. It goes on so much better too, I will never go back to SP. They were out of it after the holiday here, asked for Emerald and they were supposedly out of that as well, so I went with SP. Still had a few little areas that bubbled, real small ones though. It ended up looking okay after I did a 3rd coat, I used gardz to spot prime this time too. The weird part was the bubbles were not even on areas I patched.🤔 I let everything dry over night between coats too. Sorry for the long winded reply.😄✌️

    you have to load the texture on bit heavier cuz the mud underneath isnt dry, it will soak up the moisture and soften the texture....it will look heavy wet but when dry it will flatten out...these are the tricks you learn
    you have to know what the mud will do under different scenarios.....if the base coat is dry or even primed the texture will lay down differently cured even though they look the same wet.....experience and knowledge is what you pay for, the time it takes is irrelevant......
    hell of a deal to a homeowner for $300, it maybe an hour at job but he had to drive there and back, get materials, pay taxes, fuel, etc etc

    How much would you charge if they wanted you to paint as well? (assuming they supply the paint). And do you do it same day?

    • @thedrywalltech
      @thedrywalltech  24 дня назад +1

      hard to say because everywhere is different but atleaest your minimum trip charge to come back after it dries. Assuming the have the paint of course. Otherwise your trip charge plus paint
