    Great job. Your process is flawless. Whoever build that shower should have applied kerdi-band (waterproofing membrane) on the transition between shower and drywall. Also that tile should have gone up to the ceiling. Obviously shower build was a "touch" iffy with lack of confidence. I would not trust in that shower's waterproof capabilities. 🤷‍♂️

      @@antsh6951 sherwin Williams “white tape” is what I call it. Just regular old masking tape. I believe Home Depot has one similar and they call it contractor grade tape.

    good videos, i have no interest in drywalling but i like to watch your videos. which is a great thing. Keep going with consistant uploads and your channel will get big fast. Same thing happened to a concrete contracter i watch. your content is very easy to watch even for those not in the same trade, or any trade for that matter. From an editing standpoint the logo in the bottom right might be a bit big and distracting so maybe make it a bit smaller or fade it to more transparent after the first few seconds of the video but i like the logo. Keep up the great videos im already subbed and liked.

    Thats a good example of why you dont put butt joints in middle of doors because when that door gets used and slammed it leaves the stress crack because it breaks that mud loose and leaves a hairline fracture. A horrizontal crack that is widening is signs of bad settling or poor structural integrity

I can watch your clean ass patching all day 🤣 but im mostly interested in your systems, truck set up, back end type stuff.     What does it mean when the mud reacts?

      @@misaelherrera1688 when the chemicals in the mud are reacting to the paint on the walls. So the mud itself is not drying or adhering like it should so it starts to almost crumble as you are scraping it . So you have to do more coats when that happens or wait a lot longer than usual so it can dry. So a 5 minute mud will turn into a 20 min mud

      @@thedrywalltech TSP?? Presanding? There should be some type of degreasing before addig mud to walls. At least thats what is done before painting. If it reacts theres contamination.

      ⁠@@jamest1375it reacts because it’s not fresh rock. Fresh drywall will absorb the moisture, painted services, especially oil, high sheen, or high tech like duration won’t, and then you get adhesion problems and bubbles. Usually hot mud works fine, it’s more with bucket mud, adding wood glue fixes some of those problems

      @@chapoguzman7830 I do prime if it’s a full install job “full walls or ceilings” or water damage patches where there could be water stains. Otherwise patches like this if your use a paint and primer in one it’s fine as long as you do a couple coats .

    I do similar work..my only difference in your repair. Is always lay down 3ft wide x 20 ft painting tarps to walk on from the front door to the room repair. NO matter what flooring the home has

      No need to mesh. Good advice from The Drywall Tech. The key is to put a new screw or 2 in next to each pop as each pop has lost its holding ability. Be careful not to over sink your new screws or you'll have the same problem again in no time. If the pops are indeed old school nails then use a nail punch/set to sink em without damaging drywall. If they stick out enough (especially after new screws then just pull em out). If they're screws just take em out but can also sink em. Just need room to fill old pops with spackle. Last step is use a good low/non shrink spackle like Drydex. That way you aren't doing multiple coats due to shrinkage. Hot mud will work too if you have it.

      @@miguelangel97marron88 yes I do 👍🏼but only when the boards are loose. And there is not always framing there to apply screws as well. It’s all case by case basis. Hope that helped !

    Hey bro. Do you like DeWalt? Are the ones you own older models? I've heard they have gottwn "worse" og "cheaper in quality" the last few decades. Some of my colleagues have newer dewalts and they love em. When i was little my dad bought one of thouse huge power tool sets and he had and loved it for almoat 20 years! Partial metal pools, super heavy. I held the new ones my colleagues got and they're not bad? But they sure are more plasticy.. just curious guys. No hate. I can only barely afford Ryobi with the variety of tools i need, i dont use them as much but they sure are good for the price imo. Sure hate the ryobi "dong" tho...

      @@Bluebird22200 I always tell people that there is never a guarantee on stress cracks . If anyone tells you other wise they are lying. If it’s a point of stress in the home then the chances are that it can crack again. But I also have done these every week for over 15 years now and have never had a callback on one. Just make sure the v cut it and if the boards are loose then the better add some screws. Hope that helps !
