Hello lovely friends! I hope some of these tips help and I would love to hear your input. I posted the shirt I’m wearing on my Instagram (@_cynthialoewen) where you can get a closer look. I say this because of the fact that when I wear certain dresses or skirts, I cannot put the microphone under. Hope you have a wonderful week! Sending you so much love 💛💛🌻

I think there is a balance when it comes to modesty. I’m in agreement that you shouldn’t dress too provocatively. Contrary to popular narrative, dressing provocatively is not liberating.

    • @CynthiaL
      @CynthiaL  4 года назад +19

I’ve always viewed it as balance. I’m more modest now than I used to be, but I always found myself gravitating toward balance. One practical point is that I never actually felt like I could move properly in revealing clothing lol it definitely didn’t feel liberating to me

    • @thatexcalifornian6124

Cynthia L that’s a very good point in regards to practicality. You don’t want to be worrying about too low cut tops or dresses or people seeing up your skirt.

@@CynthiaL I read a great tip from a fashion stylist once that I think, works for everyone on the "modesty" spectrum & all clothing tastes. She said you should only ever show off (if you want to) one body part. So, a little cleavage, a little leg, shoulders, bare arms, a little midriff. Pick just one. More than one leaves nothing to the imagination & looks trashy.

Amandazplace I agree, it’s ok as long as you do it tastefully. Don’t do too much. For example, I like wearing crop tops but I don’t wear it without high waisted pants or they can be bra like, in other words too short.

Cynthia I have to tell you something. You, Mrs Midwest, and Feminine Fancy have inspired me so much on my feminine journey and today I went out for a girly shopping trip with my co-worker and bought a skirt and cute top with frills for my work outfit/uniform 💖 My previous work uniform was baggy pants and loose fitting tops which made me look and feel super androgynous and sloppy 😣 My new skirt is high waisted and midi length so it's modest while still accentuating my body (specifically my waist) and the top has a high neckline but fits snugly around my chest and stomach area so it suits the curves of my body without being too revealing! Sorry for such a long comment, just thought I'd let you know how you've positively influenced my life 😊 x

Kinda sad how men nowadays feel like they need to be more feminine and women more manly. On the contrary, when a man shows his masculine side to me in whatever way (like holding a door open, fixing a tire, or paying for the group while we’re eating out), or I see a man online who’s actions are so respectful and humble, it literally motivates me to be a better woman.

I know it feels that way sometimes, but trust me, you couldn’t have been born at a better time. Your unique personality, gifts, and desires are what this world needs. If all the traditional feminine women in today’s day were born in the 1800s, then there would be no feminine women to nurture others (including men), and the art of true femininity would probably die off. Be true to yourself, be feminine, and maybe you can also convince other women to follow the same path!

What a wonderful video Cynthia! I especially liked the part where you talk about having hobbies. Our society spends so much time on our phones / the internet in general and I think it's so important and beneficial to one's overall health to have hobbies that don't involve electronics. I also wanted to add that I have some advice for women who who want to become more traditional: if possible, look at the women of your family and your female ancestors and find out what they did in their free time, how they acted, what people remember them by, etc. A lot of the women in my family are / were homemakers and it is fascinating to me to see that apart from homemaking, they occupied their time with hobbies like sewing, embroidery, crochet, needle lace, etc. and at the same time they blessed others around them with these hobbies, by making things as gifts or teaching what they know best 😊💗

But now I feel so much better, because I can still view myself as a homemaker! You're right, it is possible to live a home-oriented life even if one has a job.

My mother was a teacher for most of her life because she had to, yet was also able to be a very good homemaker and put her family first. 💛 It is possible, you just have to be very intentional with your time and efforts. There's a podcast I mentioned before called, "The Modern Lady Podcast" (2 catholic ladies host it), that you might enjoy. I will talk more about my journey in the future and a few elements such as veiling, however I do try to keep things pretty broad to all Christians, since there is definitely so much we can all learn from each other. 💛

I feel this video couldn’t have come at a better time for me, as I’m always looking for more ways to implement a traditional way of living. I want to encourage you when it comes to discussing sustainable living. Sustainable practices are traditional, even if the modern era is making it of more a political situation, which isn’t helpful. Homesteading skills are sustainable practices and stand the test of time. I agree that if you want to live a more traditional lifestyle, you need to be conscious of your consumption and respect the health of our planet. I love that you choose thrifting over buying new and doing what you can to implement sustainable practices. I believe it is more important to do what you can than to not try at all for fear of not being perfect. Even the smallest changes make a big difference. ❤️❤️

That's so interesting what you say about partying. My daughters (both 19) have been confused & surprized about so many of their peers rebelling against the social distancing rules & partying for essentially, the last 5 months. I'm kind of shocked! Can't they find other interesting things to do right now? My daughters have been cycling with friends, roasting hotdogs & smores in the park with 1-2 friends, playing card games & park games, doing alot of crafts, playing piano, reading, going for a run. Hobbies are SO important to your identity & self-worth. And I agree that being more conscious about spending & where your dollars go will absolutely cultivate awareness & caring about community, environment, & humanity. You don't have to have alot of money to begin this awareness. Every time you purchase second-hand, you are saying "not my money" to a corporation that doesn't share your values. Buying only 1 eyeshadow pallette & using it up means less make-up going to the landfill & ending up in our soil. Even just a few changes will count.

I sort of feel like most of the women that I know are traditional as well as modern because we are wearing so many hats. I would never want to live in the word in which my Mother lived. She had to endure some awful things that women didn't really talk about during her time and I think it's very wrong when powerful people take advantage of those they feel are weaker simply because they know they won't be punished. I do not want to live in the same world that my Mother grew up in because it wasn't very kind to women. My Father chose to leave our family and he didn't provide any financial support to my Mother or to me or my siblings when he decided to abandon his family. He would hit my Mother sometimes as well as my brothers and this made me feel so awful because I was a very young child and I loved my Mom and my brothers very much. My Mother had been a stay-at-home Mom and she took very good care of all five of us. She valued her marriage and took care of her husband and family, but she was left like yesterday's garbage. This is the reason my Mother told me that the most important thing I could do was to go to college and learn a skill set that would help me gain financial independence. She didn't say I needed to make a lot of money, but that I needed to be able to support myself. However, this doesn't mean that we were not a traditional family because we were in almost every way. My Mother prayed with us daily and we had family Bible reading most nights after dinner. My Mom was a wonderful woman who gave every part of her heart and soul to her children and I loved her with all of my heart. She taught my brothers to be gentlemen and leaders. She passed away in 2019 and her legacy will NEVER be forgotten. Not all women will be Mothers, but I believe that God has given most women a strong innate sense of care and concern for their children, husbands, and friends. This is not to say that Men are not important in society. It's sad that many Mothers and Fathers are no longer teaching their sons to respect women and I think that has a huge impact when considering domestic violence, divorce and violent crime against women.

Hey there! My name is Jess and I'm probably not your usual target audience. But I think we have a lot more in common than you'd think :-) I am a career woman, feminist, "eco" nut, democrat, agnostic/athiest . . . basically, I'm going out on a limb here and guessing we may be the complete opposites. But hear me out. I'm also a wife, a daughter, a community volunteer, a friend, and a person who just wants a beautiful, kind world.
While I believe that everyone should be free to be whomever they want to be, I'm looking to get back in touch with my feminine side. A lot of the points you make I think can be carried forward to men as well . . . good posture, less swearing, kindness, good manners, being warm, looking out for others.
I'm excited for this journey but I'm also sad by how divided we have become, especially in the U.S (I know you're in Canada). My MIL is the opposite of me . . . wouldn't ever stand up for racial injustices, but happy to shame those who do stick up for their fellow humans (completely regardless of approach - anything from walking out, taking a knee, to full acts of violence - but note that she's apparently not against war in the name of the U.S.). As someone who was raised in the Catholic church, I'm ashamed that this is what a portion (hopefully she is in the minority) of the Christian community has become. I was taught and still live by the mantra of...loving my neighbor. If my neighbor, or a group of them, are being killed at crazy rates, I was taught to stand up for them, not turn a blind eye and say "Black people are not victims of this country" (even though the U.S. is only ~250 years old and Black people have been legally oppressed for about 200 of those years and socially oppressed to this day, aka, generational wealth leading to ghettos, etc.) Anyway, the point is, my MIL argued over this to no avail, and in the end concluded that we actually have very similar values. We both want to live in fair and equitable worlds, we both want to be free, we both value love and compassion and kindness towards others.
I love the point you made on sustainability. In Catholic school, I was taught that God made this world. If that's a belief that you hold, then my goodness, *respect* your home, your planet that you've been so blessed with! You wouldn't step into a host's home and trash it, would you? In the same way we should love and respect our planet that we are so lucky to have.
As a feminine feminist, I just want to say that I love and care about people, my neighbors, people who are like me, and people who are not like me. I believe that people should work hard, but I understand that people fall on hard times too - and that's why I believe in basic social nets such as unemployment and subsidized housing - yes, even if that means that a small number of people will immaterially take advantage of the system. Even if that means we all need to pay our "dues" or taxes to live in a civilized society. I also believe in freedom - especially social freedom. That's why, even though I am a cis heterosexual "white" (well, white-passing at least) woman, I believe people should just be whoever they want to be!! And heck, to gain our freedom if that means we had to become a bit more masculine in the short-term, then so be it. Why can't we have legal rights to be who we want to be if we aren't hurting anyone?
Maybe this will help us understand each other a little bit better. My MIL thinks that Liberals are sent by the Devil himself. If I go back to my Catholic roots I would argue the opposite. If I think in modern terms I would say neither is true. I asked my parents once if placed 150 years in the past, if they would be the Christians who claimed that we can't abolish slavery because it's "bad for the economy", the ones leading the KKK, the ones saying that they "like" to work for food and shelter, or if they were the few Christians who were standing up for slaves and helping to free them. My Dad huffed and ignored me. My Mom said she never thought of it that way. Stand up for your neighbors. Love thy neighbor. Love thy neighbor who doesn't think like you or pray like you or look like you. And always stand up for people experiencing brutality and injustices. Thank you :-)

This is so relieving to see as a man. Thank you for spreading your ideas. Not only would this help women, but it also would help men to reclaim value on traditional values. It would help the culture since we have gone so far.

Cynthia, God truly is blessing you for the work you are doing and advice you are giving. You have an amazing gift, you have that feminine touch that has been lost today but you have it in your DNA.
So much truth, there is sacrifice I suppose to these women not becoming that CEO but really is there?
If it wasn't for all the nonsense the media and feminist indictrination they program young women with, truth is and it's what I truly believe, women want to be at home with their families I think it was a great manipulative trick to make women think being at home with the children and family is a prison, and was keep women from being liberated.
Once women get the money the career they're not happy. They don't want it anymore because it's not what they truly want as men are not attracted to a woman's finances, it has to be her, and how she makes him feel.
A woman's attractiveness is her fertility, her assets ;) , and her feminine way,.
A traditional woman has the power to turn the house her man provides in to a home, with the feminine touch a guy's house just doesn't have.
Women I think at their core want family, a strong masculine husband who is her strong Alpha but today's women have been trained to compete not compliment a man who frankly is not interested with living with another man style competition. He seeks his submissive and complimentary bastion of love he calls his wife.
Keep it up Cynthia, your soft way of delivering even the most blunt truths without offence is truly grace in action.
I am convinced that a women who listens to your channel and who truly adores your work will be the place quality, Christian men can find fertile ground.
I'm a 48 year old widower, quality guy very established goes to church. The risk of todays feminists make the proposition less attractive and not worth all the trouble because traditional qualities are non existent and the female qualities are superficial only.
The culture doesn't teach women how to he feminine little home bodies, who make life beautiful with their feminine touch, that drives a quality alpha male nuts. It's so attractive.
Women don't know what to do outside of the bedroom which degrades them and feminists have very high sex partner counts that is not attractive to quality Christian guys like myself who don't want the neighbors at the cottage bringing up a new woman all the time but rather meet and greet and build up friends that are based in the real world.
Cynthia you give them hope and advice on how they can build a home together not competing but as a team. This is the best thing to do together, and make babies too.
May God bless you and your marriage. I know God blesses your work He will take care of you, trust in Him.
I believe that forr this work you do, God will fill your beautiful home with children.

Thank you so much! :) I pray every time I think of video ideas, because I truly do want to communicate things to be best of my ability - I am not perfect, but hopefully it does the job in presenting women with another beautiful option for their lives.

Actually, I would sort of disagree with some of these very 1940s/50s views of women. There are a lot of assumptions going on with some of these statements. I'm a married woman and my husband actually wants me to have a career because we need TWO incomes. I know many women who went to college and earn a good income to help their husband support the family. I can't think of many families that survive with one spouse working, but there are some for whom it will work. The rest of us realized that we would have to learn some skills that would be marketable and because we wanted to learn something and be good at something. Too many people have strange beliefs about feminism and you just wonder where they get this information? It seems like many people think that a feminist is a woman who hates being a woman and hates men and children! That is incredible! You probably need to get informed because that is a very strange and twisted view. There are some women who hate being women, but they are not feminists! It's really laughable that people think women who are feminists do not want to be attractive, don't wear makeup, and don't dress well! That is absolutely crazy! Not all women who are feminists are extremists. It is actually possible to have traditional feminine traits as well as feminist traits, but for some reason folks think women are 100% Traditional or Feminist. Women who want careers and are feminists are not bad people just as women who choose to live a more traditional lifestyle are not bad people. I have friends who are more traditional than I am and less traditional than I am, but we do not put one another down! If your idea of feminism is women trying to be men, that is incorrect. Women don't know what to do outside of the bedroom? Seriously? What an awful thing to say about women! Not every feminist sleeps around. Not every feminist hates men. Not every feminist has a messy house. Most of the women that I know are sort of a combination of traditional as well as modern. It's so sad that too many men and women think that women are either 100% traditional or 100% feminist. My husband is ex-military and very masculine, but he has never told me that he doesn't want me to work. He actually appreciates that income that I earn. He realizes that there are things that are important to him and things that are important to me and we support one another. That is a marriage---two people supporting each other and living in unity.
