Dear Mr Roy, not sure which law gives you right to demean people & its culture. I agree that we need to do lot more to make our mothers & sisters feel safe but it gives you no right to brush people & culture. I hope that you do some reading on cows & gobar before ranting in public forums. Thank you.

Mr. Roy, I believe Basavesh brought up a good point. I think gullible people should be taken advantage of, not be reminded that they are gullible, they do not like that. Those of us who have any sense should stop reminding people of their general level of non mature thought prowess.

Hey fellow rider, I'm here cause it was shared in our riders group.
It's so sad to hear what's happening around and especially near vikarabad. So sorry you had to face that and I'm hoping this reaches to right authorities and make it better and safer for all women and riders!
I do know that a lot of riders from Hyd have a fun group ride from gachibowli to Ananthagiri hills, every weekend (at least before the pandemic hit. I'll be happy to share the strava profiles/information so that you can join them or vice versa! (some of them are PBP finishers and TS state racers- expect to have more fun :) ) PS: they love the monsoon (and post-monsoon) season to ride nearby your place.
Another part is, I did an overnighter ride back in 2019 for two days around vikarabad district and I had a warm experience with few good people who coasted alongside for 40-60km chitchatting with me and a few who gave me snacks on the way. I'm just saying that there are still a lot of good people around which you are yet to meet :), hopefully, you meet some, and may it brighten up your experiences there!
Stay safe and happy tailwinds :D You are welcome to Vizag anytime!

The point is you can't change people's minds. They simply don't know the value (an effort to achieve something in sports ) of achievements. if they really knew the practical aspects to wear a sports jersey ( why we have to wear these. we know because we been in these fields. it's a performance-related matter ), they would have never behaved like these.

My suggestion for your safe riding in India,
    1. For cycling outfit, don't mind about what others think about your riding gears, for comfort cycling, yes we need proper outfit.
    2. don't ride alone, just search on social media sites and form a cycling people group with like minded people within your area and ride with them.
    3. Buy a sports cam with chest mount or head mount whatever you feel comfy while do cycling with friends or alone, when these idiots see you have cam like Go Pro with you, mostly they wont follow do such a weird things because they know the consequence getting caught on cam, even they do you have a valid proof to show to the authority with proper evidence to take care of it. without proper evidence nobody could help you in this matter.
    4. keep Pepper spray with you, in case you need that you could use for self defence purpose by law.
    5. Don't quit cycling just because of these kind of jobless idiots who waste dad money for nothing, even as a man I too faced same kind of issues while riding single speed cycle alone in populated city on 5 am, they try to drove the bike fast like about to hit and do monkey kind of things or shout to make us mad just for fun. First of all, I feel really sorry for what you have experienced in Vikarabad. I am a cyclist, live in Hyderabad and I am concerned with your issue in 2 ways i.e. as a cyclist and as a native of Vikarabad Town. Even when I go to my hometown in those bib shorts and jerseys my friends and relatives stare at me because that dressing is new for them. It doesn't mean that the people of Vikarabad are still in 1980. When it comes to safety, yes our country is facing serious issues of lack of security for women. But based on an unfortunate incident, attacking the mindset of the people of whole Vikarabad is not correct. Rogues are everywhere in the world and India, Telangana, Vikarabad are no exception. With regard to women's safety, I totally agree with you but the words you said about the mindset of Vikarabad people is not acceptable.
