TSLA shareholders have lost over $300B since the stock was added to the S&P500 over three years ago (while Musk pocketed over $60B). Tesla should be doing better, with 20-40% growth in revenues this year, but a series of missteps and poor decisions by Musk has stalled growth, such that revenues will grow much slower than target over the next three years.
this is so confusing we have the news saying it will tank while other outlets say its too complex for the analysts to evaluate
my fund manager already said this was going to happen to tsla stock, if not for her id have made hella mistakes by now. its expected to dip a bit more in the coming week

i concur, those who lack research skills always miss the opportunity to benefit from the gains with good fund managers and active analysis. they opt for the simple leverage sustained passive approach controlled by bureaucrats unknown to them

I have a Model Y now, and selling my BMW M3 and adding a Model X before the end of the month, and 11,161 shares deep in the red. The cars are fantastic. The company sux durty ash whole.
Their production rates are abysmal.
6 year wait for full ramp on a minivan. 4 year wait for full ramp on compact. 2 year wait on my CT reservation. Massively slow production on Megapacks & Semis.
They need another 5 factories NOW to even hope of keeping up with BYD. BYD will be making hundreds of millions of cars before tessy even reaches 10 million
They need marketing.
Demand for Mod 3 & Y has completely stalled.
They are not adding even second shifts never mind third shifts.

Anyone panic selling and growth stock right now should get out of the market. If I would have sold @$50 a doubled my money or @$75 and 3X my money… then what? Now you have a tax problem… and money sitting on the sidelines. Well, I have made millions by doing what a did while investing in Apple in 1998. I bought and hold and threw away the key. My $10k in Apple become $7.8M. I had so many trading companies saying I should take money after the BUBBLE… 😂 I would have made very little or nothing. Hold and stay. Traders never make money. I make millions.

I couldn’t be less concerned about Tesla. Interest rates coming down eventually, 25k vehicle, FSD/software, energy, AI on the horizon.

Tesla is not in a vacuum. All automakers are under the same pressures. Tesla’s got the cash flow, market position and tech to get through it…..and even capitalize on the crisis/opportunity.

Although the rest of the auto industry is moving from supply constraints to demand constraints, with Tesla, it's the opposite. Suez canal, Lunar New Year, Terrorist attack in Germany, model changes in Fremont are all having an impact on Tesla supply.
The first analyst wasn’t wrong that the “model 2” (Gen 3) car would be a (large) catalyst for TSLA valuation. And that there isn’t a big catalyst to move TSLA before that comes out. (Assuming FSD isn’t solved in the mean time.)
However, this isn’t why the Gen 3 car is so important (and urgent). Gen 3 will be the platform that transforms the entire Auto Industry. This includes putting some of big auto out of business and globally putting Tesla in the clear lead.
You don’t think the Cybertruck ramp selling tens of thousands of high margin vehicles is a catalyst? Or the exponential growth of Tesla Energy? Or the acceleration of development of the Optimus bot? These analysts are so short sighted it’s embarrassing! We’ll have to wait for the Q1 and Q2 earnings to come out before these imbeciles realise what they’ve been missing!

@tatata1543 If you are day trading, then your logic makes sense. If you are investing long-term, it doesn't matter if the stock drops. Do you think that Tesla stock will be back to $300? That's the question you need to ask when buying at $177. I believe Tesla will be a trillion dollar company, so short-term does not matter to me. I only invest money I don't plan on using any time soon.
I think Tesla stock will get down to 160 bucks until Elon comes out swinging and finally takes down those lawyers that are trying to steal 6 billion dollars.

It's not just a price issue. Chinese consumers are willing to drive super small, postage stamp sized vehicles that simply don't sell in the U.S., regardless of whether they're ICE or EV.

Actually the Chinese new year does not explain the slow in demand in China. If you add January and February together sales are still down 6% vs January and February last year even including a leap day this year. And that is the way we should compare because

BYD Seagull is hard to beat.
Truth is most of all that we would not even have this current climb if it was not for AWM79K bringing the main change so that even casuals are super interested now. A brand name like that one behind this asset is just the best we could have hoped for

Lets talk about Wells Fargo getting hacked last year and how much their stocks dropped?
While other car companies have completely stopped production or scaled down/ back but Tesla is the only company with the negative narrative.
If your statements are in fact true, the numbers following the quarter end will either corroborate these claims, or prove to be very disappointing Tesla hype . That said, I'm hoping for a better than expected quarter end. And despite a gloomy forecast for the year, that may just go a long way to restore investor confidence and promise for the future of Tesla.
I was so happy that my monthly buying opportunity coincided with a temporary discount in the stock price.

It's been a 4 yr dip so far
Maybe my biggest concern with TSLA falling is their ability to recruit the best talent in the field. Since they offer employees stock options as pay, the lower it goes the less likely some of that talent is to join the team. I do understand (Being in the IT/Tech field myself) that most of that talent (best of) is often not driven by pay, rather driven by the mission/work, but it does matter.
Are we beyond the "if anything can go wrong, does go wrong" scenario yet.
SMR is one eyed on TSLA and missed NVDA. Money problems are not solved here. TSLA still likely to be good over the long term 5+ years. Probably has a lot further to fall this year before it bounces back. For someone who doesn't give financial advice he sure gives a lot of advice.

I’ve been waiting for Tesla to blow up because of this guy for like 2/3 years now and stocks basically been stagnant… I have most my savings in TSLA stock ,. Not sure if I should sell out at a loss right now or just wait another few years

Tesla is probably taking their time on restarting the Berlin factory as there is no reason to start production as long as inventories are as high as they are. Maybe they should use the shutdown to start preparing for Juniper refresh as it is very much needed to spark renewed demand
No mention of the high-interest rates causing the consumer to pause on making major purchases in the U.S. and no mention of China's current economic demise. Nevermind that and just say it's demand waining.
On a tangent: The Europeans are looking at the ergonomics of having all the vehicle setting being accessed from a touch screen. They might demand that some of the settings be controlled by a physical device.
I can see the logic of this especially in countries with older consumers who don't have the dexterity and mental acuity to drive and manipulate a touch screen at the same time. Younger consumer eat, sleep and excrete on their touch devices will not be bothered by having to use a touch screen. They will likely memorize the entire menu in hours.

I just watched a review of Rivians new models for 2025/2026 and I am pleased and impressed. The Rivian R3 has me the most excited. It is a small crossover that is the same size as my Mitsubishi. If the R3 can be price compeatative with and ICE car of the same size then I think we are "off to the races". Where I live SUVs of all sizes and pickup trucks rule. Sedans are only 20% of the market and most of those are KIAs, Toyotas and Hondas. There are a few premium sedans from Audi, BMW and Mercedes but no one cares.
