    Good job, as always.
    Interesting how deep you guys go into detail and find out and present things like the history of the logo of Calatrava which goes back into the 12 th century.
    Keep it up, guys!

    The 3445 and the Omega SMDV (add to it the Max Bill watch and the Nomos Ludwig) are all very similar although the Max Bill has the shortest lugs of the three and the Ludwig has the longest lugs that look like outstretched limbs. Patek’s level of craftsmanship is incredible.

    Incredible workmanship, but the product difference between Patek and other brands, such as Vacheron, simply doesn't justify the incredible difference in price.

      I just thought of a funny to illustrate my point. Archie mention in a Video how he was in a Quick-Mart and the cashier was wearing a Timex. Archie flashed his WG Calatrava and commented to him “Hey, we’re wearing the same Watch”! He agreed, thumbs up.

    Great video
    Very informative.
    It was interesting to learn that the first calatrava was influenced by the bauhaus movement much like the A Lange, today saxonia is very similar in design to the early calatrava.

    55 year watch enthusiast... The Patek Philippe Calatrava 5119 is the only timepiece from Patek I would consider. Thin, plain, yellow gold, white face with Roman, leather strap, with or without seconds register, perfect, traditional, elegant, powerful! The rest of the line, sorry, no thanks.

    I think, though, you didn’t address an important question about the calatrava line. What defines a calatrava model? To my knowledge, the reference 96 was not officially called a ‘calatrava’ (please correct me if i’m wrong). And the watches in the line today differ so much that it’s really difficult to define what a calatrava is. I’d be curious to hear your take on this. Peace!

    • @GoldammerVintageWatches
      @GoldammerVintageWatches  2 года назад +2

      Thanks a bunch! Interesting question.
      Unfortunately I have no clue if the reference 96 was officially called calatrava. For us the calatrava is a kind of design language where form follows function.
      Thanks for your thoughts! Have a great weekend 💪

    In terms of build quality, the Calatrava is comparable to a Blancpain Villeret, but Patek have chosen to price it at around 2x the price. That’s mainly a brand positioning decision, but any thought of “value” at these price points is ridiculous.
