Sometimes simplicity is the best, yet executing it to perfection is very far from simple. The 2526 is regarded as one of the best, if not the best, time-only dress watch ever. Do you agree?
Curious to hear your thoughts and your preferences on what model you would like to see in the next watch guide!

Damn, this background and cinematography is straight quality. Keep up the great content!
this video and channel needs far more views and subscribers.
This is indeed the best time-only dress watch (if only I could afford one...). The dial manages to be quite simple yet full of character somehow. Also, damn the quality of your videos is AAA! I am fairly certain that your videos are at the same level if not better made than a big TV network documentary.
Calatrava has fallen victim to Nautilus and Acuanaut. Calatrava is a great watch, elegant, sober and refined.
I like calatrava and the Vintage ones are museum pieces, reference 530 is my favorite; solid, stylish and with character ...
Today Patek Calatrava has many rivals: fp journe chronometre bleu, Laurent Ferrier Galet, moritz grossmann hamatic, Grönefeld 1941 Principia; all spectacular, magnificent pieces ...
Extraordinary video; excellent historical documentary material.
Greetings from Central America
Beautifully elegant, what a dial and movement.
Brilliant setting for such a classic watch. Thank you.
Thanks for producing this great video. IMO this is the best video about Patek 2526 adding a lot of interesting view how this piece should be appreciated. Good channel and love to hear more from you, KOV.
Amazing content. The Calatrava is simply amazing. Keep up the incredible work my friend!
Miguel
Fine watch! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward for more.
Insane vid like always! Been here since day one keep up the great work
Simply elegant, perfect dress watch.
Love these videos, keep em coming brotha!
YES! Awesome watch review!!!!! More pls! greets from Austria !
A very informative video on an humble and notable vintage reference from Patek Philippe. Great video, I appreciate the tone and production. keep it up
6119R will be my next watch.
Most beautiful watch I’ve seen , ever.
Thanks for the review sir, much appreciated
Good, the Calatrava really deserves more attention. Thanks
As an automatic watch, I would agree that it is the best Calatrava. But man, the 570 that you are wearing in this video is for me the best manual wound Calatrava and, between the two, maybe I prefer the 570, as its design is perhaps more iconic. But frankly, these are just some of the best watches ever made!
Great watch and great video - thanks!
Gorgeous piece. My grail as most of my vintages are small second dials because of this watch.
Always so passion when you tell the story
So refined !!!
Thanks boss. Always appreciate your support and comments
Very nice Jasper!
Thank you for another great and very informative video! 👌🙂
Excellent informative and passionate. Thank you
Liked and subbed. Just bought one to give to my son ;)
Enjoy the deep dive. Hoping for similar coverage of vintage Vacheron dress 🤵♂️
Classy brother. Keep up the good work. Just another sub.
Love the calatrava, although I must admit My grail is the 5227.
Mooie setting jongens!
The Saxonia Thin takes the crown for me.
It's a beautiful watch, but I understand there can be a problem with the rotor bearings wearing out on these automatics. Is that true? Perhaps best to stick with a manual wind in order to not have that problem.
They are very much serviceable
The ultimate stealth wealth, my grail will be this with a Freccero dial.
I know that it's a classic, but feel the likes of gronefeld, vc, and Lange are nicer. Tbh, I even prefer my seiko aesthetically
Elegance
Very nice Goyard bag 💼
Nice
Great video, it really shows AVW passion for and knowledge of watches. The Calatrava is so beautiful and elegant, really the pinnacle of classic dress watches. One thing about Patek in general that I find not so appealing is the Calatrava clasp.. The clasp is somewhat distracting and since it is the company logo it's also, in my humble opinion at least, a bit tacky.. Screaming look at my Patek...
What do you think about the 6119G-001?
Haven’t seen it in the flesh yet, but aesthetically I very much like it.
@@jasperkov Well, I'm a proud and enthusiastic owner of this masterpiece ;-)
Just for Info:
Orden de Calatrava is a military order from Spain dating back to the 12th century. The Grand Master is the King of Spain.
I wonder why such exquisite finishing even emerged before exhibition casebacks. I mean, sure, englage has a purpose as does blueing the screws and such but why would they mirror polish the underneath of a part no one's ever going to see when just regular polishing would do, makes you wonder what the economics of high end watch production were in early 20th century, perhaps it added to value perception and customers were willing to pay a premium for something they were never even going to see with their eyes.
Exactly! Something that boggles my mind too :)
It was to some extent the sense of pride and responsibility, they knew that watch makers will open for service and that even if they are not the owner, someone will see an admire it.
Ken de pastoor van die kerk. Leuke video verder en prachtig horloge. 😃
I prefer the golden ellipse over the Calatrava to be honnest, it's a bit more original. The Calatrava is "too perfect" :)
Valid point, I do see what you mean
The best dress watch is without doubt the Vacheron Constantin Traditionelle.
I can make a video twice as long why that is not the case but agree to disagree :)
Laurent Ferrier Galet
In my opinion and for my taste JLC Reverso DuoFace and Cartier Tank remain the ultimate dress watches, then Patek Calatrava, any Lange except those with digital dials and finally Rolex 1908. I'd include here many vintage watches aswell however I don't trust vintage or used anymore as it's becoming harder even for experts to seperate real and fake and even if upfront they'd look genuine mayne inside they're full of fake parts. I'd only buy directly from the company.
The best time-only dress watch = Philippe Dufour Simplicity.
Sure, but put things in historical perspective; this watch was created 43 years earlier 🙂
@@jasperkov Yes, and an entire company was behind the design and build of this watch, and basically one single man designed and created the Simplicity - all by himself.
Ouwe, kun je me niet omscholen?
Unimpressed, because I recently went to a Patek Philippe authorized dealer and tried the Calatrava. It is simply too dainty and simple. The polishing and finishing is good, but not better than any other luxury watch. The leather band is way too thin and does not seem robust. There wasn't anything truly impressive about the watch and it doesn't stand out at all to a casual observer. I understand that Patek Philippe is held is in high regard by some, but there is no value in the watch. The value is entirely perceived and driven by old school collectors. I also think Patek Philippe is way behind in modern style which means future generations will probably shy away since there are so many other luxury dress watch alternatives.
“Unimpressed, because I recently went to Patek Philippe authorized dealer and tried a Calatrav” 🤦♂️ I think its rather irrelevant to point out your experience with a new Patek. We are talking about the 2526 that was conceived way over half a century ago. If you would be able to put it in historical perspective you would understand. ;)
🙏
too bad patek is ruining the calatrava and their other lines with ugly designs, and oversized cases. very bad. like a pair of wooden shoes with splinters.
It isn’t even a dress watch🙄 It’s a classic watch.. Looks like all other classic watches from the period.
First dress watches ever made were actually dress pocket watches! That’s where the name dress watch derives from! They were extremely thin/slim compared to normal pocketwatches, and even compared to watches of today. Patek Philippe played no major role in the most remarkable dresss watches ever made, neither manual nor automatic!
So - did one of the Jesuits at de Krijtberg lend you his Calatrava to review - - better get it back to him by vespers. Tot Ziens
