When i was a child I was told a lot that I was evil and going to hell. In adolescence it was..."I can't wait until you are out of here!" When I was moving out it was..."And don't think you are ever coming back!" And then as an adult my mom wondered why I didn't want to call or visit. NO emotions were OK ..we were just supposed to pretend to be OK. Even joy was punished as we were "too loud". My mom once threatened to take away my horse figurine collection because she "thought I loved them more than God". I haven't seen my mom since 1995. I'm 62 now and still afraid of her.

This should be a compulsory component in all levels of education and correctional institutions and more imo , were not all born into a world where our caregivers know this information unfortunately
Absolutely crucial for changing our under resourced mental health services that are themselves crushed under the enormous weight that frankly our governments put last on the list yet costs everyone so so much more than money IMHO

Great video. Just one thing, the breaks in between for the text feels a bit distracting. The music also stops at that time. Perhaps there's a smoother way to design this?

Discipline, should correct bad behavior. And it should be fair. It shouldn’t make you feel as though you broke a major law. If my son did something he shouldn’t have, but didn’t know any better, I’d explain the what he should’ve done and the reasons why and see how it goes next time. I didn’t punish or hit him for it. For me, it was different, and love was ABSOLUTELY conditional. I was bad, not my behavior. I was made to feel like I was evil…I was actually the scapegoat in a narcissistic family so everything wrong was my fault. I couldn’t do anything right.
