Ostrrom has great gear that's durable and well made. I still use my Ostrom products from 25 years ago and couldn't be happier with them. Thanks for sharing Kevin.

I too have the original Ostrom barrel harness. It is indestructible. I'm liking the new features.
I can vouch for the durability of Ostrom packs as well. We just bought a new Ostrom Quetico to replace our 25 year old Ostrom Algonquin pack (which is still serviceable).

Thanks for sharing that. Amazing how long Ostrom stuff lasts.

Who needs suitcases when you can have Bill's Barrels?
Thank you Kevin for a clear review.

Ha, perhaps a new style of gear that you will see people trying to carry on airplanes.

Thanks, Kevin. Enjoying seeing more videos this summer. The review was great and, as usual, answered some of my questions about the barrel harness.

I love my Ostrom barrel harness! The comfort is a huge improvement over the last barrel harness I had! Between this harness and my Ostrom canoe pack, portaging is definitely more comfortable. Nothing else compares with Ostrom.

You sold me on the Ostrom. I was looking a few other options that were a bit less expensive, but likely a compromise in quality

Ordered. Can’t wait for it to arrive in the mail and then only a few months left of Canadian winter lol. Thanks for the great review 👊🏼

I have a newer one and it's been great. I ordered it with a tump which I recommend if you like using tump straps.

I completely forgot to mention the tump option.

@@KevinOutdoors They definitely aren't for everyone. I like to use one with canoe as well.

The older model has a built in tumpline. It is an option on the newer model.

Hello Kevin, another great video, THANK YOU. I got a question regarding the harness and you could ask Bill if not sure. We do a lot of whitewater paddling and it is important to avoid the hip belt sticking out if you flip. On my curren harness, I pull the hip bell toward the front and attached the buckle so I can put the harnest on top (facing the sky), that way the belt is secure and will not stick out in case of flipping. Can we do this on the Ostrom or the belt is too thick to be pull toward the front?

    • @KevinOutdoors
      @KevinOutdoors  8 месяцев назад

If I understand, you want to clip the hip belt backward around the barrel so it stays out of the way?

@@KevinOutdoorsHello Kevin, thank you for replying, YES, this is what i want to do.

@@andrefrancoeur1563 I just tried it with both the medium belt and the large belt and both snap around the 60L barrel (backward) very easily.

@@KevinOutdoors Great, thank you. I have to replace one or two for next year and surely look and consider it. Another topic, your recipe book is amazing. Convincing my friend to dehydrate pasta was a challenge but after trying it, I sincerely understand your point. Even if we cook on fire most of the time (permitted), the time preparation was greatly reduced. Looking forward for more information and videos from you.
