Brobably the best comeback of any classic metal band ever. Every song is worth it's place in the album, such a solid piece of work, it's almost unbelievable. Songwriting, creativity, feeling, production, all are top class. Their 70's-89's core is always there, and in the same time it sounds so relevant and might be the greatest "antidote" for the corona shit so far. I literally feel lucky to be alive to witness this taking place. Eternal respect from Greece. p.s. Tim Baker is fierce, quite possibly the only metal vocalist that carries such a strong - and undoubtely "twisted" - Ronnie James Dio feeling in his performance.
Overkill, Accept, Exhorder, Blue Oyster Cult, Diamond Head, Tyrant and a few others also made great comebacks. My vote would be for Accept in terms of classic metal.
It's a worthy return alright which is good as it's shit when old bands come back and are terrible. Like Grim Reaper for example. The accolade of greatest return ever though surely has to be Satan. Their output since they've comeback has been stellar and on par with anything they did in the past either as Satan or Pariah. Also some of the band members don't seem to have aged which is crazy 😂
Cirith Ungol-"Forever Black". I never mention enough how much I love Cirith Ungol. This new album is absolutely like top notch classic Cirith Ungol. I first discovered this band as a young 13 year old. It immediately kicked my ass in a unique way. Tim Baker's voice and Robert Garven's drumming and the killer guitar work and bass work. It was 1985 in a record store when I bought their 2nd album "King Of The Dead". I have been a loyal fan ever since. These guys are so unique and so awesome. This new album is the best one since in my opinion!!! The other albums were great too, but this is totally bad ass..
There are some bands from the 80s who managed to come up with new albums recently but some of the efforts I've heard sound tired and clumsy. Cirith Ungol's new album sounds really authentic and fresh! Absolutely genuine metal.
Night Demon's Jarvis Leatherby had a lot to do with getting the band to reform for his Frost and Fire Festivals in their hometown Ventura, California. He also plays bass with the band since the original player declined to revive his rock career. He may have much to do with their fresher sound but talent will out.
