Tim Baker must be one of the most recognizable voices in metal..... such signture voice color...... Wacken is great, but Rockpalast has always the coolest bands
Only similar voice is Bobby Blitz from Overkill to me and even then they sound a little different with Bobby's voice being a little screechier. But man what a voice. Ciriths sound is so signature.
I knew Cirith Ungol when I was 14. Now, I'm 50, and their songsd are still amazing! They're gonna play at Wacken 2022. I wish I could be there! Long live Cirith Ungol!!!!
Hes not singing. Hes lip syncing. His throat and Adam's apple are not moving. Hes not showing any signs of breath engagement.....hes doing the milli vanilli. I've been singing, playing and recording for over 30 years. I call bullshit on the vocals.
The video is not synched perfectly with the music. Besides, I've seen these guys play up close in person 2 years ago and no miming going on buddy. So you're dead wrong. Laterr Mr. professional singer.
There are only a few truly original bands in metal. Cirith Ungol are one of them. And the amazing thing is that 40 years later with a 30 year split in between they sound better than ever!
It's so unreal that so many years have passed and he still pulls off those vocals, I got goosebumps.. I have no idea how a human being does that with his voice. He's not like anyone else - it's not quite a scream, it's not quite a roar, and it's not quite singing - it's somewhere in between, and completely outside of normal human capabilities
@@kaliyuga4312 The best description I ever read was "Tim Baker's bloodcurdling screams sound like Axl Rose being swallowed by an Atlantean beast". Maybe that 25-year-hiatus was actually a good thing. That way we can still enjoy Cirith Ungol today. Not too sure if his voice would have kept up otherwise.
When I first heard Witch's Game I though they must have dug up an old recording from somewhere. It's nuts how great his voice still sounds. Personally I though he was a bit too shrill back in the day - that scream at the end of their last track in this set almost gave me a nosebleed - amazing performance!
Telstar Ado Yeah. I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks it sounds better today than back in the day. I guess because he got older, his voice became less shrill.
Few things warm my heart like finding out bands like Cirith Ungol are finally getting their dues and being more respected by people. Major respect to these guys for enduring the trials of being overlooked in their early days, but quality will always prevail. Not to mention the insane performance they give here. It's a testament to their insane talent.
Nice to see Ciruth Ungol after all these years. With all these Stoner metal bands it’s time for the new generations to discover the original strain! Tim Baker is an original and deserved more accolades.
Can you guys believe that i discovered Cirith Ungol through a famous brazilian magazine called Super Interesante (or Super Interessant, in english). The magazine called these guys the "worst band ever." When i listened to them, i couldn't believe, and until today this report seems hard to believe. This band is amazing! We, fans of metal, have no idea how much shit is talked about our style of music worldwide. Long live, Cirith Ungol! And fuck "SuperInteressante", the WORST magazine in the world.
These uploads are priceless. Thank you Rockaplast for helping less fortunate folk like us to get a good glimpse of these legendary acts. Diamond Head was really fun too. God bless. \m/
Agree saw them and Manilla Road right after at a small festival, it was awsome. Almost as close to original members as they can get too. :) Well when Greg plays that is, where is he? They where walking around the festival area after their set too, so I got to to talk to all of them. The drummer is really social :)
@@marcoabreo6506 Cirith Ungol had been around since 1971, playing Doom Metal styled music. The only reason Frost and Fire was lighter and less Doomy was because they had been around almost a decade, didn't get anywhere and wanted to have some level of success so wrote music that was more radio friendly in nature.
Glad to see a revival. Been a loonng time. Wish they played my fave Finger of Scorn. That heavy distortion guitars reminiscent of the 70s is just great. Rock on.🤘
Love it! Singer can scream In the most unique way. You can understand him! Way better than cookie monsters vocals! Takes me back! Always love the rhythm section for this band also. Love dual gtr stuff they do! Chaos Decends!
Holy cow! I haven't heard this band since King of the Dead was a new release. They popped into my mind again because of Lord of the Rings and I decided to look for them on RUclips. I cannot believe how much this singer still sounds like how I remember them all those years ago!
I miss Flint's super bass a bit.Overall the band is alive and kicking, didn't expect such a performance. The new track is awesome too, looks like they are here to stay!!
I would hate to be the guy who has to play Fogle's leads - kudos to this guy for stepping up and attempting it, those are some of the most insane solos ever played on an electric guitar
This is still Jim Barraza who played on the Paradise Lost album. Unless you're talking about Armand from Night Demon. He filled in because Greg couldn't make the tour.
Super special doomy soulful hr\hm!!! Had all of their vynil records!!! My bro Rob has seen them at the famous Keep it true festival!!! Awesome stuff!!! Cheers!!!
These guys sound like a recording studio. Not live. My dumb ass is only finding out about them now at 45 yrs old. Life long metal fan. Shame on me. Time to go through their back albums.
Guess we're all in the same boat. I heard them once, many years ago but completely forgot about them over the years until the other night. Shame on me too. These guys are fucking amazing, as is Night Demon. Nice to see the crossovers.
I find it funny that I’m watching this at 19 years old & that my dad doesn’t know anything of this band; Being myself I’ve never really been into power metal but I’m more fond of doom metal- furthermore- me being into fantasy media & doom metal probably explains my interest in Cirith Ungol for the most part; Some reasons for me enjoying them are that their mix of doom & power appeals to me, as well as that I first learnt of them due to their name being that of a fortress on the borders of Mordor in Tolkiens’ universe; I’m glad I stumbled upon this band & I’ll probably stick with it!!!!!!! Check out their new album Forever Black!!! 🤟🤟🤟
I read in an old interview that the band was unable to go to Europe back in the 90s, where their biggest fanbase was, and that it led to a great amount of friction and dissatisfaction in the band. I don't know when they were first able to go to Europe, but I'm glad they got there.
sometimes it sounds like Tonny Iommi playing the guitar with Rob Halford singing.... Brilliant and definitely underated band! they should get more credit for what they do..!
I'm 57. Been listening to Cirith since 17

Tim Baker sounds exactly like the record, it's insane!
Is it just me or does Tim look like alternate-universe Rob Halford? I feel like I'm fifteen again listening to this. Awesome.
I was about to post about it, but you beat me to it.😂😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
I feel better now to know that I am not the only one thinking this haha
I thought it was Bill Bailey
He sounds awesome indeed
I thought the exact same thing the minute I saw him.
A Cult Band is just a sound that can not be repeated
and Cirith ungol, it's one of those sounds that they contributed to heavy metal.
How Tim still sounds the same after all these years is beyond me.

@@iamalpharius9483 I would like you to explain "Forever Black" to me. You know, the new album where he sounds the same.
He said his voice stayed intact after not singing for 25 years!

It’s kept the good qualities from before but his voice has matured or something. It sounds better than ever before.

Too Bad Jerry Fogel didn't see the recognition of the band.

I can't believe how great Tim Baker sounds!
This is absolutely wicked!!!!!! I love Cirith Ungol..
Tim Baker sounds meaner than ever!
A unique and incredible tone of voice

It's amazing that this band formed in 1971 and still going.
Right? they predate almost all others and are going better than most that even formed in the 80's-90's
Cirith Ungol: immortal, sacred band!!!
Manilla Road too!!!
Feel the Chaos! Tim Baker still got the same powerful voice! This band is simply amazing!
Absolutely FANTASTIC, what can I say more? Oh yes, I say that with true tears of joy, such feelings, while listening to these heavy metal hymns.
I can't believe they're back!!

Speechless...the Pioneers of DoomMetal...waited for a return for decades.....we' re living on a doomed planet...
This ain't Doom metal dumdum. And besides black Sabbath and Pentagram were already playing Doom in the late 60s and early 70s dumbass.

The master we worship won't lead us astray
Jimmy Baraza can still jam just as hard as he did back in 1991.
R.I.P Jerry Fogel.
I love the unique vocals and drums
Sobrevivi para assistir esse video. Lindo demais. I ❤ Cirith Ungol. Since 1985. I am a loyal fan.

Tim Baker- THE most underrated singer in metal. This guy's voice crushes my guts.
Cirith Ungol killing it!They are a beast and they sound better than ever.Waiting for the new album.
Used to play softball with these guys. Band against band. Somewhere in Ventura.
The most unique vocalist I've ever heard. WOW.!!!!

Remember them back from the 80's they still sound great, love that they are massively heavy but you can actually understand the lyrics
CIRITH UNGOL RULES !!!!!
One of the most METAL voices in the genre. Always intense, always epic, always borderline evil. This band is passion.
Never thought 30 yrs later,I’d be able to hear these guys
Oh my God they sound really natural and smooth 😍
Fantastic, Cirith Ungol forever!
This is a dream come true, so long so little and now all this. To sound so good live even. Just amazing.
Tim still had it! That very vocals is one of the epitomes of TRUE HEAVY METAL that poseurs would never understand!!
