Them/Conspiracy as they are the same story for me. But Abigail is almost as brilliant. King Diamond never made a subpar album in his entire career be it with Mercyful Fate or King Diamond. The 90s and 2000s albums are excellent as well. I LOVE Time and House of God.
This has always been in my rotation of tunes since it was released! I work in the music industry and have worked with King many ,many times. Ive met just about everybody thats toured in the past 15+ yrs.( Im based in Vegas) & Ive gotta say, King is the most genuine, gratious and humble person in the music world. Totally not what people think hes like! Such a class act and has a true love for his fans. Its always a pleasure working with him and his camp!
I remember waiting for this to come out, it came out 2 days before my 19th birthday. I can still recall that first listening and being blown away. it was a huge step up from Fatal Portrait. The guitar playing is amazing and the story went full album, and KD was in his prime! What a time to be alive!

My step daughter named her daughter Abigail three months into her pregnancy. The kid never made it. She had to deliver her dead. We all had a funeral at the hospital. The staff at the hospital was more than charitable and even a few of the nurses cried. I cant imagine what its like to carry your dead child inside you or the grief she felt having done so. Fucked up. Every time I play this album for a brief moment I wonder if her spirit is with her mom.
@@LassetUnsSpielen What I said actually happened, it just so happens that she was named Abigail. I didnt know the name till after the fact. Her father has her name and year of death tattooed on his wrist.
And you didn't listen to Kings holiday 12 inch "No presents for Christmas". Hahaha.. the only other holiday related track I can recall is Halloween on Fatal Portrait. All joking aside, Abigail is a masterpiece.. the story, the riffs, the beats, the synths, and Kings lush vocal harmonies make for a Hell of a listening experience
This was my first taste of King Diamond. They used to have metal shows at this club "Pulse" every couple weeks in the summer. SO I would go to every one. Had never heard of King DIamnd. Was totally blown away with the show. Got a pick from Andy(managed to get one from him on Them and COnsipiracy as well). Hooked ever since.
Or just doesn't like it. It's too bombastic and reverb drenched for my taste. It's the reason I don't really like Iron Maiden. I didn't dislike it because I'm sure it's well made but it's not everyone's thing.
"Omens" was the track that was the best triplet exercise on the kickdrum for me,, just ask my EX band members from years ago, they got sick of hearing my kick triplets LOL!
My old band would cover some of Abigail and fatal portrait and mercyful fate. I had some real fun on guitar and then bass player quit. So I learned the songs on bass. Wow. So much fun playing these songs. 90's were good times
Mercyful Fate and King Diamond made the most complex heavy metal back in those days. This album is insanely good and very progressive in my perception. The work of the guitars and drums is top notch and the bass is present the majority of the time. At the first listen I didn't comprehend this album that well, but with a few more listens it did grow in me.
Until maybe a few years ago, I always gave this album a miss. I don't even know why. Then on the one day I gave it a listen, I was completely floored. It's my favourite King Diamond album now.
A classic for sure and still holds up in 2024 ❤❤❤❤

I love when a concept album is done well and King might just be, well, the King of concept albums.
The downward spiral is hard to top for me.
But yeah, the King.
👊
The Greatest Music 💯
Such an wild and mad release, everyone on the band is overplaying each other. The number of riffs and drum fills per song is insane.
I still remember all of the words and everything else, it really made an impression on me at 16
the guitar is simply phenomenal and the production . my god the drums alone!......sick AF
My sentiments EXACTLY!!!!
I love how the story and tension really builds with Omens. What an awesome song.
"I did not bring it in here!!!...did you???"..
This Album is Magnificent!!!
For me this album is King Diamond opus magnum.
Yes it is
i am split between this and them
absolutely one of the best
Them/Conspiracy as they are the same story for me. But Abigail is almost as brilliant. King Diamond never made a subpar album in his entire career be it with Mercyful Fate or King Diamond. The 90s and 2000s albums are excellent as well. I LOVE Time and House of God.
The Graveyard is my favorite, but yeah, brilliant stuff
Obra maestra! Saludos desde Argentina hermano metalero
That IS crazy but ya... I'm sure I am going to think of what you just wrote here everytime I listen to this now - out of respect for the little one.
wait... is this the actual album lore?
@@LassetUnsSpielen What I said actually happened, it just so happens that she was named Abigail. I didnt know the name till after the fact. Her father has her name and year of death tattooed on his wrist.
So sad, my respect :(
That's a fucking crazy coincidence
I've listened to this album every Christmas morning since it came out
I just listened to it for the first time ever on Xmas Eve. What a f$*ing masterpiece! The production is amazing
Michael Denner & Andy LaRocque are one of the most badass guitar duos of all time! Up there with Dave & Adrian from Maiden ✨
Absolutely! Michael&Andy, Dave&Adrian, Tipton&Downing, Mustaine&Friedman in the top tier of guitar duos!🤘🎸

Hell yeah, check out my collection!!!!
Whoever put a dislike on this album has no musical appreciation or apptitude
Or just doesn't like it. It's too bombastic and reverb drenched for my taste. It's the reason I don't really like Iron Maiden. I didn't dislike it because I'm sure it's well made but it's not everyone's thing.
Are you nuts. This sounds awesomely creepy. @@purpled4864
King Diamond is some of the best metal music ever produced!!
The best King Diamond album. Every song is killer \m/
not even close "them" \m/
@@charleswilson1583 agree.

Mr. President, You are Correct.
Absolute love and respect to the pioneers of thrash. May King Diamond continue his marvelous reign✊🏻✊🏻
Easily King Diamond's best release. Clicking on all cylinders here.
nope "them" but ya is good
Am i missing something . I have been listening since the early 80's and i think all of his stuff is awesome !
I am 48 and a half today. Why did knowbody tell me what I was missing? This is bloody brilliant.
It’s never late buddy
👍
I remember when this came out and I was instantly hooked!! Every song is kick ass 🤘
Thank you Kim-for all the great musicians you have, and 1st-your vocals.
I love how his albums are one big story
This album was my introduction to King Diamond. I still love this album.
I named my daughter Abigail. Because of this album.
i dont have a daughter
That's really cool \m/
I named base my Dark Souls characters off King Diamond characters. I have Abigail and Melissa.
I always planned on doing the same thing lol
Thank's god i wasn't RACHEL
The perfect sound bettween madness and darkness, long live king diamond, the real king!
it sounds like hell saying me welcome.

Perfect metal album
Excelente masterpeace!!!
Muy Bueno, up the irons
"Omens" was the track that was the best triplet exercise on the kickdrum for me,, just ask my EX band members from years ago, they got sick of hearing my kick triplets LOL!
Yes, simply AMAZING song. Without doubt
This was one of my first CDs. Still own it. Still rocks.
THE KING IS THE BEST AT MAKING CONCEPT ALBUMS( # 1, KING DIAMOND CAN'T BE TOUCHED WITH LYRICAL CONCEPTS)
My old band would cover some of Abigail and fatal portrait and mercyful fate. I had some real fun on guitar and then bass player quit. So I learned the songs on bass. Wow. So much fun playing these songs. 90's were good times
you had a singer who do this stuff! what's his name and where do i find him
Any video tapes? Would love to see your covers. Love cover bands. 80s metal garage band drummer.
This should have been the soundtrack for Bloodborne. It fits so perfectly. Dark, haunting and Victorian.
I didn't use to listen to this kind of Metal but now i must open my ears🤘🖤🇵🇹Long live the king🤘
Much better late than never 🤘
Welcome to King Diamond's World!!!
The varying time signatures are ridiculous. Absolute masterpiece front to back.
Me too. All of them.
Listen to the other ones Voodoo, House of God, amazing albums.
Masterpiece
I concur.... Andy’s guitar and Mikkey’s drumming .... solid album indeed
Indeed!!!
Andy's solo are always masterpieces
