Or you cld of put the filo into the custard give it a stir then pour into pan. I'd also put thin slices of orange on top and use smaller pan to get bit more height.
Can you use the water you cooked the orange in for the syrup? In my head, this would either have a great orange taste or be bitter from the orange skin… 🤔
