I don't currently have a significant other in my life, been single for years but every time I watch Black Love & After Love my cheeks hurt from smiling so hard. Black love is not a monolith and it's so beautiful to see! I'm so thankful for all of the couple's and their transparency. ☺💛
Been with my husband for 25 years married for 20 years September 18th. I can NOT say its been hard work and my husband agrees. Not sure why but it hasn't been hard... Blessed
I love these talks. I grew up with my dad doing everything for 41 years. He got the gas, the oil change, the car maintenance. He bought in the groceries, he opened all doors. That was just what he did. Before I got sick and had to move back in with my parents, I did it myself but when I moved home he did it for me too. When he died unexpectedly, I just pick up where he left off for my mom.
I wouldn’t have thought of something as simple as cutting grass and having no clue how to do it, one, because he had no grass and two, because he was raised by a single mother who did everything. That’s interesting.
Glen is pointing out how growing up with a single mom doing everything, that as the child observing this, the child is defining in their mind gender roles similar to Angela growing up, without a male in the home, believing she doesn't need to depend on a man for anything because she didn't have a male to help her as a child why expect it now in adulthood.
I just really enjoy these couples. Glen and Yvette are my joy though. Been following Beleaf's (Glen) trajectory since his Dream Junkie days, Red Pills.., to the Fatherhood series. To see that couple grow and evolve so much has blessed me. So glad that more people get to know about them.
Nineteen years this November, our first argument was about the dishwasher. My husband told me I didn’t have “kitchen etiquette” because I don’t know how to put the dishes in the dishwasher CORRECTLY❣️. Nineteen years later and he’s taught me how to cook, using Cavendars and garlic powder, things that taste good to him and I’ve gotten more “kitchen etiquette”. And he has allowed God to make him more into the “man of my dreams” EVERY Day❣️
I’m with Angel. I don’t do anything with the cars, maintenance, oil changes nothing. My husband takes care of both cars. I either tell him that the cars needs their maintenance and he checks the cars regularly. It’s an agreement we both came to and it was just something we both expected him to take care of.
Loved it. Still learning how to cater to my wife & feel as if I've lost myself in the process. I vod care less about winning arguments or being stubborn. This shit has to work so I'm dedicated to learn different ways to approach all lanes of love. Ty guys so much for the content. 🤎🖤
Love it! Just nice to see other couples grow and develop and not turn trivial things into something explosive. Love the show and the after love conversations. I pick up something from each couple. Maybe love and marriage after 50 is possible for me after all. This sure makes me hopeful!
It is my cousin got married last year 50+ there is still hope. Btw a 70+ a few years ago. Keep the faith, I haven't received mine yet but they give me hope😊👍
Here for Glen, Yvette, Angel and Marcus!!! The collab I didn't know I needed! @thatchickangeltv and @howmarriedareyou?! 🤣🤣 They seem like such lovely people irl and their chocolate babies are so beautiful ❤❤
I absolutely love this show and wish I had access to it while I was married! It’s heartwarming to see black love in action-successful marriages! Thanks for developing the show and thank you to the couples who have opened their lives to us! 😍😍👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I’m only half way through and I LOVE this after love episode!! I have my drink on deck and y’all have me laughing out loud. This episode really was like a group of friends getting together to just hang, catch up and have good conversation. Keep it up Codie & Tommy 👍🏽
So, So, So beautiful to see these couples intimately discuss issues within their unions. Not married as yet, and if that is in my future Iooked forward to showcasing BLACK LOVE MATTERS!
I really enjoyed this episode. My dad did all the maintenance for my mom and us when I grew, but he made sure his daughters knew about car maintenance as well as my brother. So that we wouldn't be taken advantage of. My husband and me argue about who checks anything on the vehicles. So I just brought me a new one. I wish I would havehad some of this knowledge early in my marriage (married 23 years together32 years).
@ThatChickAngel getting the oil change is "ME TIME" for real! Especially, when it's during or right after the work day and you DON'T have the kids. OMG! I look forward oil change Saturdays!
I really enjoy Black Love and the after show, I am newly married 3 years this Feb and we don’t have a lot of married friends or family. So this show really gives me a lot great insight on a lot of situations that come up in a marriage and the different perspectives of the various couples. A lot of “oh I thought that was just me “ moments happened while watching lol. I especially love that fact that I can see positive couples that look like me, representation of BLACK married couples. AWESOME JOB 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🖤🖤🖤🖤
This has been my favourite episode yet. Possibly because I love them all and enjoy their content so I feel like I know that they are actually being who they are.
I absolutely love these shoes!!! Very informative and just so around needed!!💝💙💖💚🧡💜. Been married sence 1999 and there are pieces of our life in every story. 💜🧡💖. Thank y'all
This is great convo. However there should have been a conversation about how it makes the other person feel when certain tasks aren't handled by their mate. Ex. How does Marcus feel when Angel refuse to get her oil changed herself when he does everything else to service her vehicle. Does he feel taken advantage of? Does he feel taken for granted?
Yup, went to get oil change two weeks ago at a quick stop, upon leaving engine light is on. The vehicle is 5yrs. old, manager states it's during the 5th year that engines begin to go out. He gave me a code that showed up, I researched it for the make and model of the vehicle, it stated that it was a generic code. The incorrect oil filter was installed. Tried to get them to place the correct oil filter on, manager argues it was correct and that they was not the cause of the engine light being on. Took the vehicle to the dealership, for another oil change, light went off and rode better. If, I was married and my husband took care of it, I would not of had the grief from a thief.
Very true.. I just got all new tires and an alignment... the guy comes up with $3100 worth of additional things needed... sir.. you just quoted me a new car😂.. told my boyfriend and he’s like.. I’ll take a look when you come home and I got a mechanic if there are things I can’t do on my own
They have podcast her eon RUclips "Is this going to cause an argumentITGTCAA". Plus her Podcast with KeOnStage/Here's the thing and their Podcast "The bald and the beautiful'.
@sadonomo, You can live outside of the south and be from 'the country.' You can live smack-dab in the middle of a major city and be from 'the country.'
Ay girl! I see you! You are strong & confident 😊 It is not easy wearing a top/dress that shows 'the girls' with confidence cause you know people will look or glance, but the female body is a beautiful thing, and as long as it's not vulgar (& it's not!), I believe it should be displayed in elegance 😊
I love these couple being so transparent. Relationships take work. I grew up thinking marriage was such a fairytale..it's not!! Has me just wanting a committed , companion, devoted, loving partnership. Not so much marriage. Don't want to be another number in the system.
You're a great host, I learn so much. You're kind, considerate, a good listener too. The next time couples come to you, please do close up your top so as men whose eyes wonder away from their wives do not distract them, as not to make extra work to be done on the men's part to have to force themselves to always look up when speaking to you. Keep your respect in such a public platform.
This show/ experience is the best thing that was created... I have learned and implemented so much on my journey to marriage.. I love the facts committed couples can share raw truth about marriage.. frm out side looking in it may be easy... but it does take work to come to a leveled ground with understanding.
That DIY, I feel it, that is what I envisioned, we did that the first home, the second home he was ready to pay folks sooner than I was. I am still having fun with the DIY😅😂.
I agree with the wives! I would like my husband to get my oil changed and handle all maintenance but mine says he wants me to know how to do these things! 26 years married. I do it all but I still don't know how.
Bald men with beards and natural haired women with head wraps FOR THE WIN!!! 😄🥰🎉 (No shade to anyone else, just appreciating these couples!!)
I feel ya on that sis!
I second that!!
They are beautiful
Real love 🙏🏾❤️
I didn’t even realize.🥰
I don't currently have a significant other in my life, been single for years but every time I watch Black Love & After Love my cheeks hurt from smiling so hard. Black love is not a monolith and it's so beautiful to see! I'm so thankful for all of the couple's and their transparency. ☺💛
I smile too everytime,
I understand you fully.
Same here

I love that Marcus likes being in front of the camera now. We’ve come such a long way lol
A LONG LONG way!!! 😂😂😂😂
Such a long way!

So needed this. Glen, yvette ANGEL and Marcus they're very much opposites but seem authentic in their own ways.
We got the best that our parents and community could give us ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glen is pointing out how growing up with a single mom doing everything, that as the child observing this, the child is defining in their mind gender roles similar to Angela growing up, without a male in the home, believing she doesn't need to depend on a man for anything because she didn't have a male to help her as a child why expect it now in adulthood.

I absolutely LOVE the after show! From the topics to the camera quality and questions! This is refreshing and I hope we don’t see an end to this x

One of the few couples that actual seem relatable... really like both of them. Practical and not trying to be perfect
this need to be longer... an hour plz
@ThatChickAngel getting the oil change is "ME TIME" for real! Especially, when it's during or right after the work day and you DON'T have the kids. OMG! I look forward oil change Saturdays!

Another GREAT episode!!! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 💕🖤💕🖤💕🖤
I’m so glad they are on here!!
If husbands understood how trash mechanics treat women, especially married woman, when we do stuff like get the oil changed, they would just take it.
What do the mechanics
do or say? Do the try to cheat you?

Y'all look so Good! Taheeeeeeeeeeeeee! Black People are Fine!!! Loved the episode
Different strokes for different folks, I do nothing with the car no gas, no oil change, no heavy lifting, no yard work to each his/her own.
You're a great host, I learn so much. You're kind, considerate, a good listener too.
