My father-in-law told me once that a big mac is healthy. All the food groups covered. "You got meat, bread, lettuce, and that sauce is kind of white, there must be some milk in there". He was serious and I was shocked. He also thinks jam is a serving of fruit. No sir, I made that jam and it contains twice the amount of sugar as it does fruit.
Jason Kilderry does an excellent job discussing the importance of health by exercising and nutrition. Some things that I found interesting was some of the research he had done. 1.5 billion people or more than are over weight in the world is a huge number. I think that something important that he talked about was how many of these people that are overweight don’t realize that a lot of what they’re eating is unhealthy. He gave a perfect example of the man who thought that because he was ordering a fish sandwich at McDonalds that that made it a healthy choice. I agree that if more people were simply educated on what was healthy and what isn’t, that that would help a lot more people to make healthy eating choices, or at least limit the amount of unhealthy eating choices that they make. I want to further what Mr. Kilderry was saying by focusing on the ethics value of utilitarianism. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that determines right from wrong by focusing on outcomes. It is a form of consequentialism. This view holds that the most ethical choice is the one that will produce the greatest good for the greatest number. As part of this view, educating people on how to change their diet would help them to change their lifestyle and reduce weight. If you can teach someone about calories, diets, and healthy eating choices then you can teach them for life on how to eat healthy. Mr. Kilderry stated that on average people spend less than 20 minutes in the kitchen per day. If people were educated on how unhealthy fast foods are, and how they could cook for themselves more often with healthy options, it could make a big difference in a person’s everyday diet. One thing that I disagreed with Mr. Kilderry on was his statement that it isn’t helping people if they go and exercise and then spend 9 hours sitting for the rest of the day. He claims that this undos the good of the exercise they just did. While I agree that it would be better for people not to sit around as much, I think that his big focus was on making little changes step by step to see a difference. If people are making a step by step change, then going out and exercising for them 10 minutes a day is a great goal. If people are already sitting around for 9 hours a day, then any amount of exercise is going to help them. I think he proposes two things at once: he wants people to exercise and stop sitting around. I think that the small step solution would be to pick one or the other and focus on that until you see a change or are ready to do more steps. Just getting people who don’t exercise to get out and exercise can be a big commitment. Overall, I think Mr. Kilderry does a great job at teaching people the importance of nutrition and healthy eating.
buy less processed food and move more. do it step by step. absolutely agree. it is not pretty easy if you are not used to it, but if you will reward yourself it will be much easier. For an example: you buy tomatoes and prepare a nice salad for yourself. As a reward you watch your favourite serial or speak to your friend.

We people can be healthy.......we have to work for our health.......cities are not like villages..........its easier to be healthy if you live in a village.......than if you live in a city. The idea is not to stay in the house too long. People that live in a village work outside many hours a day. Ecology in the city can help us a lot. Care of a garden, cleaning near the house, fruits daily in the diet.... wearing in the house a T-shirt instead of a blouse during spring, autumn, maybe even winter ..... paying attention to what activities we have to earn money..... and a good relationship with family, friends..........all these can help us to be healthy and happy
Everybody, please remember this, these are the basics. If you find that wheat makes you sluggish, cut it out. But you need these fundamentals first, then start making those choices. Make the small steps and find what works for you. Nough said.
Thinking in terms of a lifestyle has worked for me. By lifestyle i mean and refined structure with flexible changes such as days i can eat more or variations (mostly the days i work out). Also, explaining people the physics of the body. Putting this into simple terms is about how much energy are you consuming related to the intensity of the activity you are doing (almost like relativity haha). That's the sad truth people don't want to accept. Then, after this, people start making up speculations about the psychology of the individual, which i won't deny it plays an important role in staying motivated, but cannot be used as an excuse for not achieving results (unless of course there is a previous diagnostic of a psychological disease). Learn the physics, think in terms of energy (thermodynamics in the body) , act, repeat...

That's really an inspiration for those who are passionate about their sports career but unable to maintain consistency or to find the right way. My brother is also very passionate about Cricket, he wants to be an International Cricket player, he also plays well, but as good he plays as bad he eats, due to which he also started to have some digestive issues. This is indeed a great website, but don't confuse cherry picking scientific studies as science. I would say that a large percentage of the information they put out is very informative and will benefit most, but take the time and read the studies they cite. Often they skew segments in the study to strengthen a point they are trying to make.

Very patronizing! I am watching this on my treadmill - I do 6 miles a day (10K steps) on it. It is 95 degree outside. Why put down any exercise - especially while working. Everyone should to keep active and productive and use what ever tools are available. His discussion of diet is trivial.
What did he put down? He just noted that the speed of those workers were probably too slow. Exercise is getting your heart rate up. It's hard to walk fast and try to type at the same time.
so I just kind of broke it down with a calculator and did some math and it came out pretty interesting that if you live a life of where you just kind of doing normal things where you say you sleep seven to eight hours you wake up it takes you an hour to get ready and have breakfast and then 8 hours at work and then you come home you do whatever you make dinner you do whatever that's about 6 hours of recreational time and then you go to sleep and you do it all over again but if you're a healthy person it takes you a lot longer especially if you're vegan and you make your own food it takes you a long time to prep all those ingredients and then cook it if that's what you do if you don't eat raw you're exercise everyday your dinner takes longer and all that extra time to get you more time down the road so I did the math and I came up to the conclusion that after one year of say eating as the normal American unhealthy eater where food is fast you have about 19,000 plus hours of recreational time to yourself in one year if you're a healthy person where you work out and you have to really prepare your foods you have only about 12,000 plus hours of recreational time to yourself the healthy person has about three and a half hours to themselves everyday the unhealthy person that doesn't work out or have to really prepare their food for a very long time has about 6 hours a day if the healthy person lives 30 years longer well you can do the math on that I'm not sure I think I really enjoy my bacon and just enjoying sitting around and learning about the world through educational means and entertainment I like to watch the women work out though LOL

I found that keto works for weight loss really well but it's very much unsustainable for me. Easier just to eat a whole plants plant based diet than keto.

My father-in-law told me once that a big mac is healthy. All the food groups covered. "You got meat, bread, lettuce, and that sauce is kind of white, there must be some milk in there". He was serious and I was shocked. He also thinks jam is a serving of fruit. No sir, I made that jam and it contains twice the amount of sugar as it does fruit.
Jason Kilderry does an excellent job discussing the importance of health by exercising and nutrition. Some things that I found interesting was some of the research he had done. 1.5 billion people or more than are over weight in the world is a huge number. I think that something important that he talked about was how many of these people that are overweight don’t realize that a lot of what they’re eating is unhealthy. He gave a perfect example of the man who thought that because he was ordering a fish sandwich at McDonalds that that made it a healthy choice. I agree that if more people were simply educated on what was healthy and what isn’t, that that would help a lot more people to make healthy eating choices, or at least limit the amount of unhealthy eating choices that they make.
I want to further what Mr. Kilderry was saying by focusing on the ethics value of utilitarianism. Utilitarianism is an ethical theory that determines right from wrong by focusing on outcomes. It is a form of consequentialism. This view holds that the most ethical choice is the one that will produce the greatest good for the greatest number. As part of this view, educating people on how to change their diet would help them to change their lifestyle and reduce weight. If you can teach someone about calories, diets, and healthy eating choices then you can teach them for life on how to eat healthy. Mr. Kilderry stated that on average people spend less than 20 minutes in the kitchen per day. If people were educated on how unhealthy fast foods are, and how they could cook for themselves more often with healthy options, it could make a big difference in a person’s everyday diet.
One thing that I disagreed with Mr. Kilderry on was his statement that it isn’t helping people if they go and exercise and then spend 9 hours sitting for the rest of the day. He claims that this undos the good of the exercise they just did. While I agree that it would be better for people not to sit around as much, I think that his big focus was on making little changes step by step to see a difference. If people are making a step by step change, then going out and exercising for them 10 minutes a day is a great goal. If people are already sitting around for 9 hours a day, then any amount of exercise is going to help them. I think he proposes two things at once: he wants people to exercise and stop sitting around. I think that the small step solution would be to pick one or the other and focus on that until you see a change or are ready to do more steps. Just getting people who don’t exercise to get out and exercise can be a big commitment. Overall, I think Mr. Kilderry does a great job at teaching people the importance of nutrition and healthy eating.

buy less processed food and move more. do it step by step. absolutely agree. it is not pretty easy if you are not used to it, but if you will reward yourself it will be much easier. For an example: you buy tomatoes and prepare a nice salad for yourself. As a reward you watch your favourite serial or speak to your friend.

We people can be healthy.......we have to work for our health.......cities are not like villages..........its easier to be healthy if you live in a village.......than if you live in a city. The idea is not to stay in the house too long. People that live in a village work outside many hours a day. Ecology in the city can help us a lot. Care of a garden, cleaning near the house, fruits daily in the diet.... wearing in the house a T-shirt instead of a blouse during spring, autumn, maybe even winter ..... paying attention to what activities we have to earn money..... and a good relationship with family, friends..........all these can help us to be healthy and happy

Everybody, please remember this, these are the basics. If you find that wheat makes you sluggish, cut it out. But you need these fundamentals first, then start making those choices. Make the small steps and find what works for you. Nough said.

Thinking in terms of a lifestyle has worked for me. By lifestyle i mean and refined structure with flexible changes such as days i can eat more or variations (mostly the days i work out). Also, explaining people the physics of the body. Putting this into simple terms is about how much energy are you consuming related to the intensity of the activity you are doing (almost like relativity haha). That's the sad truth people don't want to accept. Then, after this, people start making up speculations about the psychology of the individual, which i won't deny it plays an important role in staying motivated, but cannot be used as an excuse for not achieving results (unless of course there is a previous diagnostic of a psychological disease).
Learn the physics, think in terms of energy (thermodynamics in the body) , act, repeat...

That's really an inspiration for those who are passionate about their sports career but unable to maintain consistency or to find the right way. My brother is also very passionate about Cricket, he wants to be an International Cricket player, he also plays well, but as good he plays as bad he eats, due to which he also started to have some digestive issues. Even after spending 8-10 hours for workout at Cricket Training, he used to Fart a Lot and unable to digest any food he intakes. but, I am really thankful that I got the purest natural solutions for him, that in Planet Ayurveda, India.

I don't have a treadmill desk but I wish I did. Even waking slow is better than sitting all day which happens at a job that is completely sedentary and where you need to be by the phone at all times.
It is also 70% diet and 30 % exercise i would say. You need to take care of what you eat as well. Experienced the same myself. I was 200 pounds and now i am 120 :D. Good and clean food did wonders for me

This works as it's how I live my life and I'm a healthy weight and have no illnesses. Too many people try to make drastic changes which are doomed to failure. Educate yourself about good diet and exercise (but keep it simple!), learn to cook, spend more time moving. Yes, it's all a bit boring and is a long term plan, maybe that's why many people do not want to hear the message!?

i would like aske a question in which i am too much confused i lots of studied watched vedios to understand exact correct nutrition definition but i am still confused i got a concept from all of this but i am not sure that is it right that i think definition of Nutrition is
1) nutrition is the science or investigation of food and
nutrition is the science or investigation of food take in body to meet its requirements ,
nutrition is the analysis of that food which intake by the body and
nutrition is the analysis of the relation between the food and body with regard to any impect of food on body.
2) study of food that intake the body for meet its requirement.
3) observation of food and how take the food .
4) study of food in all forms and all processes how our body ingest , digest , metabolize , mobilize , store and excrete food ,
please kindly tell me my above mentioned 4 points are correct or not with regard to correct nutrition definition ?

This is indeed a great website, but don't confuse cherry picking scientific studies as science. I would say that a large percentage of the information they put out is very informative and will benefit most, but take the time and read the studies they cite. Often they skew segments in the study to strengthen a point they are trying to make.

Very patronizing! I am watching this on my treadmill - I do 6 miles a day (10K steps) on it. It is 95 degree outside. Why put down any exercise - especially while working. Everyone should to keep active and productive and use what ever tools are available. His discussion of diet is trivial.
What did he put down? He just noted that the speed of those workers were probably too slow. Exercise is getting your heart rate up. It's hard to walk fast and try to type at the same time.
Diet is far more important than exercise but exercise is still necessary.

I hate exercise
so I just kind of broke it down with a calculator and did some math and it came out pretty interesting that if you live a life of where you just kind of doing normal things where you say you sleep seven to eight hours you wake up it takes you an hour to get ready and have breakfast and then 8 hours at work and then you come home you do whatever you make dinner you do whatever that's about 6 hours of recreational time and then you go to sleep and you do it all over again but if you're a healthy person it takes you a lot longer especially if you're vegan and you make your own food it takes you a long time to prep all those ingredients and then cook it if that's what you do if you don't eat raw you're exercise everyday your dinner takes longer and all that extra time to get you more time down the road so I did the math and I came up to the conclusion that after one year of say eating as the normal American unhealthy eater where food is fast you have about 19,000 plus hours of recreational time to yourself in one year if you're a healthy person where you work out and you have to really prepare your foods you have only about 12,000 plus hours of recreational time to yourself the healthy person has about three and a half hours to themselves everyday the unhealthy person that doesn't work out or have to really prepare their food for a very long time has about 6 hours a day if the healthy person lives 30 years longer well you can do the math on that I'm not sure I think I really enjoy my bacon and just enjoying sitting around and learning about the world through educational means and entertainment I like to watch the women work out though LOL
I always thought dieting is expensive and 'healthy' food costs a lot. Little did I know. I got my diet plan from Agoge Diet and I was able to select foods that fit my budget.

Moderation doesn't work for most people. It actually easier to cut out those groups of food we know make us sick: meat, DAIRY (which he failed to even mention), and processed foods (including oil). At the beginning you can 'moderate' these things, but elimination should be the goal.

I do think the keto diet is a perfect diet. It just depends on whether you can find the time and effort to afford the transition phase. But once the transition is complete I imagine it would be nirvana.

Well... the ketogenic diet is not a quick fix and it has a logical and biological principle behind it. it;s not a fad it;s science.
I found that keto works for weight loss really well but it's very much unsustainable for me. Easier just to eat a whole plants plant based diet than keto.

what Jason Kilderry said is right ,if you analyze the latest and the total amount of research in literature pretty much every fad diet like ketogenic diet,atkins diet,paleo seem to work the same way as compared to a normal conventional high carb diet(with an emphasis on caloric deficit for weight loss and caloric surplus for weight gain),the conclusion then can be said to be as to choose a diet which is sustainable for you.
