    Thank you for sharing!! The copper fitting can be removed from the old water and placed on the new assembly should it come without one. This is the only procedure that was not in the video. Repair time 25-30 minutes.

      I also did not get the copper fitting on my new one; but I wasn't sure how to remove the old. Instead, I used one of those little round quick connect things from my old part to splice together my old line (With fitting) to my new one. It seems to be working fine, I don't see any leaks. I may try to get the fitting off the old one or buy a new one at some point.

      @@MillerTime821 if you still have that part lying around you just unscrew the one end and then pull out the plug then stick it back in the new hose making sure you slide the nut part first

    Thanks to your video AND the filter case assembly's availability at PartsDr I was able to repair our 10 year old Samsung refrigerator and hopefully buy us years more food storage with this appliance. Our issue began with a water hammer-like sound when dispensing water and quickly became an internal leak. So, we had the opportunity to thoroughly clean our fridge, install the new part and are back in business. Fast standard shipping and a satisfied customer. Thanks!

      What are Companies supposed to work for you for free?? They have Employees, Insurance, Vehicles, Maintenance, rent etc, etc to pay for. It's great that you fixed it but at the same time don't knock Companies for charging a fee for supplying a part and installing it for you if you couldn't. That is how 90% of the work force works man. $450 sounds reasonable to me for someone to come and do that job if you couldn't do it yourself.

    This video was super helpful. It took me about 45 minutes to replace mine. That solved the issue of the water not flowing unless the filter was removed. Mine went exactly how this video showed except I couldn't get the ice maker line to release using a screw driver like he showed. So, I needed to remove the plastic housing it wen into, cut the hose, and pull it through. I saw another video where this was the prescribed method. Mine didn't come with a part at the end to screw into the water line coming from the wall, but I removed that compression fitting from the old line and installed it on the new one.

    Great instructions. Bought part through Parts Dr as well. Price was lower than other places I looked. There were a couple of minor differences between my refrigerator and the one shown in the video. I couldn't release the gray water line (which goes to the ice maker) by pushing in the collar while pulling line out. I removed the plastic plate, cut off the gray line and pushed it through the plate. Like some others, I had to remove the brass fitting from the inlet water line hookup and re-use it on the new part. Also, removal of the old housing was slightly different. there was no locking device to be pushed down, instead, there was a screw holding the housing to the back of the refrigerator. Regarding the price, the new housing seems expensive (about $170 when I bought it), but it came with an original Samsung filter which sells for $50 at Lowe's.

    When I looked up the part for my Samsung it was one of the water intake value only models. So, I ordered it, and used this video to remove the filter case, then it wasn't a big deal to open that up and replace the water intake. However, same behavior as before. It works for a while, then stops. If I remove the filter and insert it back, it will work for a few times then stop again. I ordered a new filter, but not hopeful that that will fix it. Not sure what could be the issue now.

    My experience: The screw that secures the case assembly against the back wall of the fridge was something I didn't know about when I had been messing with the assembly previously, so the tab was broken off. When I tried to pull out the grey plastic water line from its "quick release" by using the method shown in this video, it would only come out a little at a time until about the final 10". It was a struggle. There was about a 1/2" discrepancy from where the grey and blue plastic lines on the replacement assembly had their black marks compared to the original. There was no brass fitting included on the white plastic tubing for the water supply connection, which required a trip to the hardware store. Note that a small, trumpet horn shaped reinforcement piece goes inside the tubing to prevent the tubing from being crushed under compression. There is a small 3-wire electrical connector that was very difficult to remove, which required a VERY small metal blade to be inserted to depress the locking tab to release. Other than that, it went OK. This video was helpful.
    Also of note was a small area of rust on the outside of the fridge's back panel. This is near the top and seems to be caused by condensation from a lack of adequate insulation inside the refrigerator in that spot location.

    Hell yeah now that’s what I’m talking about! Very nice, detailed and straight to the point. Clear instructions. This is how all instructional videos should be. I have a question. So water is not coming out at all for me anymore. It happened after I had to turn the power off from the breaker box for a minute. It was working fine before then. I ran trimmer lining up the water dispenser hole but there was no blockage.
    Also took the out the blue hose as well but it was not frozen. Took the filter out and tried it. No water still. According to what I’ve seen on google, the water inlet valve could have possibly gone bad. Aside from the inlet valve, Could this particular part on this video also have something to do with this issue I’m having?
    Mode number I have is Rf28hfedtsr/aa

      Although you can test the resistance of the solenoids on the water valve, we have found that this test is not accurate as the solenoid can show a good resistance value but it can not function because it could be physically stuck. There is no simple way that we have found to test this part in a Samsung refrigerator. Your demo is excellent. Why would I have to replace the filter assembly? My water was coming out slowly in my dispenser until it finally stopped. Is it the assembly or is it the dispenser switch?

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  5 лет назад

      Hi Terry, troubleshooting this type of problem can be tricky. Usually the dispenser switch is either good or bad. If the water flow got slower and slower until it finally stopped working that sounds more like a problem with the water valve inside the filter case assembly. It can also be caused by a frozen water line, poor water supply to the refrigerator, or the main control board not sender power to the water valve. You will need to do some investigating and testing to narrow down the problem. This video shows more details about the filter case assembly: ruclips.net/video/H7-c-GSVizg/видео.html

    • @ericship

      This is the exact problem I had. Replacing this part fixed it. My understanding is the valve that gets opened from inserting the water filter goes bad over time and doesn't fully open until it stops opening at all. My water flow slowed to a ridiculous speed until it finally stopped. This part is around $200, but worth it to have filtered water again.

    Not sure you'll see this - but is it possible to just replace the water supply line to the assembly? Everything else works fine, but the supply line has sprung 3 separate leaks recently and only that line should ideally need replaced.

    • @PartsDr
      @PartsDr  Год назад +1

      You can try if you can find a line with the same specifications as the original. The problem is that some of these use special fittings where the water lines attach to the water valve and they are not able to easily be removed and replaced. Also, if one line is leaking now, it is likely that the other lines could start to leak soon too. So it may be best to replace the whole filter case assembly.

    One Note to add here, is that if you are getting water under the Crisper Drawer, this is a VERY HIGH POSSIBILITY of being your Problem, ESPECIALLY the part that you mentioned already about using an OEM Samsung Water Filter, as that Appeared to be my Issue, I am still testing this Monster in the shop, B4 I move it back in.
    I started down the Rabbit Hole with the Dreaded Code 22E, Leading me to think that was my problem, only To find VERY LITTLE Ice, So I resealed The Cover with some 1/4" Foam Tape, and put a New Evaporator Fan Motor in, and So far, so good on that part, It is Holding Steady at 34° in the Fridge, and 0° In the Freezer, at 75° Room Temp. Ice Maker and Water Working ETC.
    Sadly, last night, after waiting SEVERAL HOURS for the Ice to build up, and Flushing the Water Several Times, I found the Dreaded pool of Water back under the Crisper Drawer. So I happened to have a Spare water Filter " Not Samsung OEM ", replaced it and So far, so good on the leak.

You will need to remove the LEDs and plug assembly from your existing unit, take apart your new unit and install them both. If you don't do this, you won't have lights on the side of the unit. The water valve can still be bad even if it ohms out okay. It can have an internal blockage or failure that causes water not to flow past it. The filter case assembly has a water tank/reservoir inside that stores the cold water. It does NOT cool down the water, the water is cooled from being in the cold air of the refrigerator. The water tank is not large, so make sure to allow sufficient time after running the dispenser for the next batch of water to be cooled down.

      Yes it can be a bad water filter head causing your problem. First, always check that the water supply to the refrigerator is good.
