Probably because Coverdale couldn't sustain the notes live . Upping the tempo made it faster and he didn't have to hold onto the note as long . To be honest Coverdale is awful live .. Sykes could actually sing well live
I love the difference this stripped back line-up gave (only 1 guitarist) but man did they ramp up the pace on this version. It definitely lost some of the groove of the original. Certainly frantic!!
Sykes added attack on this song as welcome for me, I always felt like this was waiting for him to work his magic. Its a great riff, but the original just felt a bit empty for me as I love the Sykes era of snake the best.
Even if it's John Sykes, Whitesnake with just one guitar sounds strangely thin. And the cheap keyboards don't really help. But this shows the transition from the 'classic' band to the post '1987' era very well...
It's called cheap mixing, not cheap keyboards. If you think that what you hear in this video, has anything to do with the live sound, then you haven't experienced a live concert.
He got injured in a car accident, which messed up his arm and he couldn't play. I did read that he was still paid as a Whitesnake member, but Coverdale eventually fired him.
@@justinclark8867 no Sykes landed on his arm when they tried jumping over a car and shattered the bone. It got infected and resulted in permanent damage.
David Coverdale - vocals Micky Moody - guitar, backing vocals Bernie Marsden - guitar, backing vocals Neil Murray - bass guitar Ian Paice - drums Jon Lord - keyboards Original is the best.
Sykes is so gifted...no better Whitesnake than it was with John Sykes.
Genio John Sykes! El mejor que haya pasado por Whitesnake!
john izo historia el thin lizzy
greatings from Serbia!
Fantastica Performance !!!!!! Whitesnake Forever Number One !!!!!!
My favorite lineup.
Cozy was great! RIP! However, him & the band don't have the Deep Purpley "swing" Ian Paice + Jon Lord added to this song / band.
Be happy! Great music
Best Whitesnake lineup of all time.
No.
@@nueschiwhat an exhaustive rebuttal 😂
The sound quality doesn't help but this rocked up version grows on me. Still love the original as well.
IMO the live version from the Rock in Rio festival is the best I've seen with this lineup.
que increible esta formacion de whitesnake y que animal john sykes que buen violero!!
La mejor lejos
@@mauricioalexismartinezmart8085 coincido totalmente con vos
John sykes espectacular tono de guitarra
Un virtuoso 🎸
13 people dont like this ????? whats is wrong with your taste ?????? amazing band Whitesnake !!!!!
I think because David is out of tune all the way, and there is no timing in the band. The whole thing just sounds bad.
Too fast!
this is the core that recorded the 1987 album (late 1985 and 1986): Coverdale-Sykes-Murray; and this is the closest we'll ever see David fucking 3:46
And why on earth would we want to see that??
Beautiful 🌹💐😘
Sykes was a fucking monster. Those long sustained notes send shivers up my spine....
Potenza allo stato puro!! Powerfull Band🎸🎸🎸
この年、84年の夏は猛暑でしたね
このライブでのステージ上の業務用の扇風機が印象的でした。
Have fun in Japan
Sykes was the best backing vocalist as well as he was the great player. But I wonder who decided to change the temp. That is strange.
Indeed! When he went on to cover the snake songs later on his Live Album, sometimes his vocal notes are even better than Coverdale's.

Damn David is high as fuck in the beginning :D
♥️♥️♥️
Be happy

I do prefer Marsden's original solo but OMG is Sykes not a monster and Cozy is well Cozy

John Sykes 💋❤️ 🌹
🌹
Wow -- never heard the Cozy - Sykes line-up doing this one. Very different. Agree with the too fast comment below, but what a guitarist Sykes is.
Sykes is amazing!
Sykes rules

I'm sure that means that you're much better,,, right silber7 ?

Just the video I think, because we all know how epic the Sykes era was with Whitesnake.
💔
Strewth, this version tramps along!! Easy there lads..
Mel Galley was on this tour, but not this show, anyone know why not?
He got injured in a car accident, which messed up his arm and he couldn't play. I did read that he was still paid as a Whitesnake member, but Coverdale eventually fired him.

Oh my god ..t he Songs is so spoiled

コージーパウエルですよね!?!?
Prefiero la versión original ..pero John Sykes es simplemente delicioso de oir.
Sobretodo en blue murders
David Coverdale - vocals
Micky Moody - guitar, backing vocals
Bernie Marsden - guitar, backing vocals
Neil Murray - bass guitar
Ian Paice - drums
Jon Lord - keyboards
Original is the best.

David is stoned out of his face 😂
Looking like Rory Gallagher at times! Haha
Poor anything... but great future ;-)
The tempo they chose was a huge mistake....this is not a good erosion of the song
not quite Ian's tempo
Yes, the 2004 live tempo is the best
Essa versão ficou muito rápido.....putz
