"And we'll have Richard on more than once at some point, and he can tell the story (of their life long connection/friendship)..." 😥 I was looking forward to that. Rest in serenity Richard Lewis 💖
Im watching this now and was confused at first. Took me a min to realize this was recorded before he passed.
@Susie Essman - I know you've spent the last 20+ years explaining that you're nothing like your character, but I have to say, you're really a great actress because your personality, as it comes through on the podcast and in what I've seen of your stand-up career, is so sweet and delightful, and nothing like Susie Green! What a treat it is to see and realize that.
And what a sharp memory!
I heard that too, forget if it was from her or others but having listened to her on this podcast series there's definitely shades of fictional Susie. I believe what I heard was that she didn't like swearing to begin with or at least that it didn't come natural to her to be profane but that Larry insisted he wanted her to let fly.
I feel like that’s what makes it even funnier. Something about someone so nice acting so mean that gets me. Susie is awesome!
The difference might be that she's not married to Jeff in real life! (Just joking around, no offence meant.)
I actually feel like she is her character. Except here she isn’t surrounded by complete idiots. I always imagined that in the show when Suzy was away from Larry and Jeff she was this pleasant.
Garlin has range. He'll cut you off at the start of a sentence, in the middle, or at the end.
Don't listen to 'em Jeff. We love you, appreciate your vast knowledge and your partnership with the wonderful Susie is only going to get better because of the friendship, its basis, and your respective talents
He’s getting better he didn’t interrupt that much in this one, he was excited in the first episodes. We love you Jeff and Susie!!
hahahahahahahahahaha
Garlin.
Jeff ‘by the way’ Garlin
He's doing better, last ep it was 46, this episode just a measly 26
Search By the Way with Jeff Garlin and Larry David. Its gold.
I was listening to this yesterday then later in the day heard about Richard Lewis.
They must be so devastated.
not even 10 seconds in "BY THE WAY" lol
0:13 seconds before Jeff's first "By the way".
His first words!
@@David99356 Maybe he is just in on the joke at this point?
@@quiet451 maybe but somehow I doubt it
@@quiet451Not a chance, they banged these out quick and he has no clue
So sorry for your loss with Richard. He was an amazing comic and from what I have seen on TV a more amazing person. I've watched curb over and over for the past 15 years and you all feel like family as weird as that sounds. Rest in laughter, Richard.
When Suzie says they'd have Richard on it really hit me
Richard Lewis 😢 RIP. Glad he was able to make it in the final season. Condolences Jeff & Susie.
Some of my favorite Larry/Richard moments in this episode.
"You're so fucking dainty!"
I love how these guys are covering the series chronologically.
Why wouldn't they? It hardly makes any sense for them to be jumping all over the canon.
Listened as soon as it came out but came back to listen again because Susie confidently said Richard would be on many upcoming podcasts. 😢
Susie is so patient with Jeff!
The complete opposite of her character!
this was the episode that really got me hooked, Richard and Larry are incredible, amazing ep
16 seconds in before Jeff interrupts with a "by the way"
I love the 1 by 1 episode by episode. I LOVE these 2 together. I LOVE the dynamic. I dont think Jeff talks over her. Yall remember this: theyve spend 12+ hours a day with each other for 20 plus years. No one is offended. They both k ow each other and how they work. Its a give and take just in THEIR way. Its a perfect podcast. The hyperfixation adhd Autistic nerd in me LOVES the tangents deep dives and fun facts
By Episode 10, Jeff's interrupting and talking over Susie will break her patience, and she'll turn full Susie Green before composing herself and carrying on as if nothing happened.
LET SUZIE TALK GOD DAMN IT
Agree 10000000%
Agree 10000000%
Fun fact you didn't mention, blind Michael was also in Seinfeld. He was the guy in the basement that didn't believe George that he had a special project for the Yankees, which he didn't know what it was. He tried to ask Michael what the project was, and Michael got all upset saying why are you humiliating me, something like that!
Love this podcast. We need to create a drinking game for everytime Jeff says "by the way..." Thank you both for doing this.
We’d die of alcohol poisoning 😂 but it’s ok! Love you Jeff and Susie - this podcast is hilarious and fascinating! ❤❤❤
It really resonates when Jeff thanks the listeners - so appreciate the humility and care for us all ❤
I started rewatching the first season since listening to this podcast and my god I forgot how funny that shit is, so stoked that I'm runnin' through it again.
By The Way - The Jeff Garlin Podcast 😆
One of my favorite episodes in curb. Tip your captain - and coordinate the tip. Don't be a jerk and tip $50.
Yeah, Larry trying to coordinated his tip with Jason Alexander was one of my favorite minor plot lines!
Susie is the best. They're already finding a much better groove than the first episode of the podcast. It takes time for that to happen so please be patient.
Awesome! I can not wait till you guys start talking about Richard Kind. He is such a unique comedic voice.
That's going to be great! I hope they have him on! What a wonderful weirdo!
So under appreciated!
Susie is very gracious - I’m sure she is just used to Jeff by this point. Much ❤️ to Jeff “btw” 😂 He’s just too much 😂
Thank you so much for making this series of podcasts
Terrible to hear the news about Richard Lewis today.. heartwarming to feel the positive energy on this episode about him, without anyone knowing these would be his last days
These are great podcast. I look forward to them every week listening and watching. I can’t believe you two aren’t really married. Keep up the great work 👍🏻👏
I love the face Larry makes when shaving. I rewound it so many times the first time I saw it
Glad to see Jeff dialed it down this episode. Honestly wonder if he’s on adderall or something like it for the ADHD he mentioned and gets him hopped up sometimes.
Took less than 30 seconds for Jeff to interrupt lol
He either doesn't read these comments are he simply can't help it. I love him on Curb but hate him here. He's obnoxious. Susie is nothing but delightful.
@@Jerry-Falwells-PoolboyI think all the episodes were already recorded and they're posting them one at a time. No, he probably doesn't read the comments either.
I doubt it. 121 shows before posting anything? They were already recording these as Season 12 was still being shot. @@titusmccarthy
He’s such a Douche
@@Jerry-Falwells-Poolboyas they said before, the episodes were being recorded during filming of season 12. I’m guessing all episodes recorded after these releases he’s going to be uh… aware of how frustrating he can be lol.
I’m a very patient person but good god does he override everything in this podcast to the point where sometimes I have to take my airpods out. Like holy shit
No joke, my ex wife has an uncanny ability of calling whenever I am watching an important game wanting to talk about something serious in our daughter’s schooling. I have wondered if she googles when the next game is and circles it on her calendar.
Love curbed and love the podcast. I’m so grateful that performers put themselves out there for us. I think of Larry as the Mel Brooks of our generation. I LOVE Mel and I love Larry also. You guys are fantastic, keep it coming!
They are still figuring things out. Jeff will get the feedback and slow down. LOVE they are doing this podcast. Curb is SUCH a damn great show. One of the best of all time.
This podcast and RUclips channel, yes I listen to both for every episode so far, are my hands down happy place. Curb was already there for me but you guys make me so happy going through behind the scenes. 10+stars 😂
I would love to see more of the clips they talk about. I've seen them all already, but it would be great to see them as they speak of them.
0:14 first "by the way" - will I get used to it?
New record
I love this podcast so much!!! This episode hits different with the loss of Richard Lewis. Thank you for the decades of laughs, Mr. Lewis.
At 17:05 when I read the first “by the way” comment
I cannot get enough of my favorite pod peeps!! You two are magic!!!
This pod is getting better. Great job guys ❤ Jeff is not interrupting a lot and Susie gets to shine more. Keep it up 🍾
Loving this series. Thank you both for all the fantastic insight so far.
Susie & Jeff! I don't usually write comments, but I love this show and would really like you to know that. I am looking forward to all of what is to come! Really enjoying it. (And, by the way, I do think, Jeff, you are getting better at not interrupting...) M.O.
I’m hoping beyond hope that they prerecorded enough episodes that maybe they have had Richard on the pod at least once
loved the 4th episode of the podcast i'll look forward to more stories and guest interviews love from culver city california socal la area ❤️
Jesus Christ man 6 words in and I’m already taking my “By the way” shot. Wish me luck.
RIP Richard Lewis 😥
Question to @the history of curb your enthusiasm - in this episode (ep 4), the homeless guy seems to recognise Larry on the street and mentions about getting Duck L'orange from him....which seems random at the time. Then in episode 7 AAMCO, we can see Larry give that same homeless guy the leftover Duck L'orange a the end of the episode. Was that just a mix-up in continuity, or was it by design and just how the episodes were laid out? Thanks and by the way, loving these podcasts!
Now after hearing cause of richard’s death, the line about having lots of family members who had heart attacks is eery.
it's not eerie, it's just true. his father died from one in middle age. 50s i think
RIP Richard
To all those stuck in a "New York State of Mind",I would argue that sometimes the journey is the destination. Go for a walk in the woods,it's good for you 🙏💗🌍
dam i wish these were longer but i still love it !
Well, they're longer than the episodes they discuss by a good margin, and there's something like 115 of them left to make... So I'll cut them some slack on individual episode length, frankly.
Absolutely loving this so far
I'm one of the biggest Curb fans of all time, and I couldn't get through the first three episodes because of the interrupting. This one was a lot better, and I was able to get through and indeed enjoy the whole thing. Let's hope it continues to improve, because if it does, it will be a great companion to the show
will susie get a complete sentence in this time?
Already a by the way After 5 seconds 😂
It's like the opposite of their Curb characters, where Jeff keeps his mouth shut around Susie.
Jeff is insufferable.
The sweat scene was hilarious 😂 it being over the top made it more funny to me

S01E04 "The Bracelet" (2000)
Larry to Lewis: "You haven't done anything for me to thank you for."
Lewis to Larry: "Good point."
24 years later....
S12E03 "Vertical Drop, Horizontal Tug" (2024)
Lewis to Larry: "I'm leaving you in my will."
Larry to Lewis: "No! I don't want it! Fuck you!"
😂
I love the show so sad it your last season😢😢 All of you are absolutely amazing and funny❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤I'm loving this podcast I'm learning so much.
Love you guys🎉❤
R.I.P. Richard Lewis another OG Curb guest star gone too soon. It’s a shame we won’t get to see him come on this podcast
Introduced my younger gf to Curb recently. Larry is relatable to all.
This podcast is pretty pretty pretty good! 🖤💛🤟✌️
The actor who played "Michael the Blind Guy" was in an episode of Seinfeld as a ticket taker at the movie theater (Rochel, Rochel). EDIT: actually, I think I got that wrong...he was the clerk in accounting who Wilhelm sent George to see on the project George was working on (but didn't know what it was about).
Who here to see if he is gonna let her speak her this time 😂? BY THE WAY ...LET HER SPEAK 😂😂😂😂
Credit where it's due, I think he is getting a bit better at giving Susie more space. (Was quite disgruntled by this in the first episodes too, less so this time.)
One of the best
I loved this episode one of my favs I think The Wire is my favorite episode of season 1 but this is really close
My first place out of college did not look like that…
0:12 seconds in and we already got a "By the way"
10:32 Hearing that is heartbreaking.
Jeff “My Wife of Yore” Garlin
"Wife of yore" might outpace "By the way"!
@@David99356By the way vs. Wife of yore might be the only thing that keeps me listening. I’m dumb enough to count them. 😂
@@darrenXparker so what’s the final count?
"By the way..." (drink)
Great to have this tribute to such an amazing series. Tempted me to binge through them again enhanced by your splendid recollections. When the shooting of the final series is over, will you be able to increase your ouput? I'm afraid of not being alive to see it through to the end! I'm in the UK and never managed to see the pilot episode. Is there anywhere to find it online or could you dedicate one of your sessions to playing it, interspersed with a running commentary?
Superb ,,,, Very well done,,,, And Larry never had a fling with SUSYS character,,,, Of course I AM BEING IRONIC ,,,
I’m sorry but JEFF you seem EXACTLY like your character in more ways then one 😂
“ we’ll have Richard Lewis on more than once” That line stopped me in my tracks :(
Susie do you not know how expensive glasses are nowadays in the UK? You're bankrupting me with these glasses I have to get them omg! Oh and the shows ok etc.
First I want to say RIP to Richard Lewis he was one of my favorite characters on the show,Second Susie your hilarious on the show, when you yell at Larry or Jeff.😂 I just had a one question you mentioned that Larry was diffrent from his character, how so? I only ask because when I saw him on interviews promoting season 12 he seem so similar and hilarious so I wondered how diffrent is he?
Antoinette is her name 😊
Let Jeff be Jeff
Would love to know why this episode seems to have aired out of order. The homeless guy says he knows Larry from the duck l'orange (but that's a reference to something that doesn't happen until episode 1.07).
*Chicken. I was wondering the same thing
loved the Ratso Rizzo line fwiw. Good show but I think you should eliminate the doubling of clips at begginng.
Well that was fun
Yes! Jeff is right about women. I had an American girlfriend who’d suddenly want quality time and attention on her but pretty much only when I’d occasionally want to watch my Australian Rugby League team. Once I even prepped her, took her out beforehand, told her that afternoon I just want to watch the game, two hours and then we go out again all night. “I just really want to watch this game, it’s an important one and I haven’t watched a game in months”. I might has well have said “hey, if you wanna piss me right off here’s the key two hours to do it.”
There has to be some bravery willing to show up and just improv when you know the stars have already proven themselves.
ya'll need to do these in person
Love you all
The ratso comment was perfect.
Real Susie would never tolerate Jeffs interruptions like this
Who wants to play a game? Each “by the way” we drink!
Speaking of drinking games -- DO NOT play the "By the way" drinking game, my god, you will die!
I do enjoy these two talking about curb and giving us lots of insight and BTS goodies
13 seconds in... "By the way..."
Was the coffee shop you guys used to go to in a strip mall in Marina Del Rey? There’s a grocery store there too
Is BBC1 available in the States then?
I had to laugh…Susie was four words into the introduction and Jeff interrupts with ‘by the way ‘
Your silhouette logo in the corner looks a bit like Snoopy. Great show. Keep it up.
I dont really like flowers as a gift, unless they are in a pot. Cut flowers are actively dying.
Was larry’s real house at this point much grander than the one used in the show? Because his mansion in recent seasons seems more in line with his seinfeld money. It looks so modest in first season for how wealthy he was/is.
By the way
