I was 10 years old in East Pakistan when Pak army badly surrendered in Dhaka. My elders used to glue with BBC Urdu rather than lies from Radio Pakistan. Mrak Tully, BBC correspondence was real hero for his true professionalism and on ground real news.

1/3rd of Kashmir is with us. Even in 71 we changed your map and absorbed Chamb (A CONTIGUOUS PIECE OF TERRITORY with India unlike East Pakistan that was 1k miles away from West Pakistan). The wimps of Indian army mustered courage (after 1k years of Hindu humiliation/subjugation) only after Pakistan was embroiled in a bloody civil war where majority was up against minority (East Pakistan had a larger population).
You didn't gained anything from 1971. Nor you resolved the Kashmir nor you recaptured east Pakistan which was separated in 1947 by Jinnah. I don't know why Indians like to cherry pick this unfruitful war even though they lost many soldiers and equipment against Pakistan afterwards.

The men who wronged bengal are long dead or dying. Yes, past leaders of Pakistan committed grave errors in their judgement but it didn't help that some of the mukhtis and leagues members were communist and Indian shills. Watch Yuri bezhmenev's interview. It's available on RUclips. He confesses that through India he oversaw transfer of weapons to Dhaka university long before war had begun. He also says that some of the leagues members were trained in moscow.

No bullets were fired by the students in Dhaka University .there was genocide done by pak army as mentioned in Hamidur Rahman Commission Report. you mentioned past leaders done wrong. So my question is what are the present leaders doing? There was mass killing done by pak army and still no Pakistani leaders issue an official apology to Bangladesh. Nor did they made any tribunal for the judgment of the generals. For example in October of 2000, after the publishing of Hamidur Rahman Commission report, president Mosharraf said that we will not make a judgment to our generals regarding 1971.
As a Bangladeshi i cannot forget what pakistani did to our ancestors. We demand an official apology and a tribunal to judge the generals for violating human rights and genocide.

Pakistan and Pakistan Army officially surrender in Dhaka in 16 Dec 1971 but Dhaka did not surrender. Pakistan was surrender both way politically and Militarily in Dhaka. Don't be emotional because East Bengal was never a part of Pakistan but it was a colony of Pakistan. Bengali people and East Bengal were treated as 3rd class citizen and burden of Pakistan. Pakistan never treated them as equal. East and West never were a brother, its a misconception of Pakistan and there were no brotherhood policy in Pakistan, Relation was like Owner and slave, Don't you know that from 1947 to 1971 Pakistan systematically took all the revenue and resources from east Bengal. After 24 years of partition why in 1971 East Bengal became as 2nd poorest part in the world. Still Pakistan doing same unhuman injustice with Baloch people in Baluchistan. So don't be emotional because its not just for you and its not suite for the people of Pakistan. Thanks God Bangladesh has been saved in 1971.Almighty Creator is a great planner. The East Pakistanis were unwelcomed in the West Pakistani societies.
At that time, Dhaka’s football league was much ahead of West Pakistan’s and was more lucrative. The west Pakistani footballers came to Dhaka to find a team, play and earn their livelihood. However, when the Pakistan national football team was formed, there was not that much representation of the Eastern side.
Dhaka’s athletes were maltreated with lower accommodation and food in Lahore and Karachi. East Pakistan did not have any representation in the Pak national cricket team and no effort was even taken to improve the infrastructure of cricket in then-east Pakistan.
If you are a true researcher, you should know how the East Pakistanis were discriminated against in Civil Service and Army. In civil service, 300 marks were allocated for Viva-voce only to discard the strong East Pakistani candidates, so that except for the quota system no one else could come out. And in the army, if you do research, you will find a fewer number of East Pakistani applicants from which you may assume that the Bengalis were more or less reluctant to join the army. Absolutely wrong. At that time the most prestigious jobs were the jobs in CSP and Army. Why would not young and educated individuals dream to join there? But in Army, the measurement of the chest was set in such a way that the Bengalis were dropped during the screening. Could not a separate standard be introduced to create a level playing ground? The Gurkha soldiers have smaller chests than the Punjabis, but as soldiers, they are far better than the Punjabis.
Now, I am not going to the discrimination done in the economic and development expenditure. Because, as a Pakistani, you will feel ashamed of how parochial your ancestors were. So, the Pakistani Awam can be exempt from the atrocities but not from the social discrimination.

The Urdu speaking West Pakistani's are very different from Bangla speaking Bangladeshi's. Jinna thought that being Mulslim would unite the two fronts but it was soon rendered false when it was clearly stated that Bangla can never become a national language. The culture was being forced upon the Bangladeshi's. In the same way, the Baloch are being negated their rights. The flawed system resulted in all this. The same situation was in India but the division of state government helped in maintaining diversity. The regional governments retained their culture and 31 languages were given national Status and Urdu is one of them.

Sorry Sir, with due respect India didn't helped Bangladesh in 1971 but way before than that. No doubt west Pakistan was kept under dark by the leadership of that's the time but the much of atrocities that we here aren't so easy to digest as reality is somewhat different there were many reports claiming the false nature if Mehmoodudeen commission. They write that so much girls in Dakha university were raped etc on reality Dakha Universität was closed. So things were turned in a different way. I'm not saying there couldn't be atrocities not everyone was good like our Gen Yahya Khan who was totally drunk all the time, like Bhutto, whose motto was to grab the chair by hook or by crook. Anyway we're two different nations. We've respect for Bangladesh and Bangali people as a Muslim Ummah but nothing else. There're people in my country who support Myanmar coz Myanmar is our ally who has bought military hardware from us so a complete different snario. Bangladesh is doing great no doubt but our country is trying hard as hard as they can! I've seen a huge potential in the youth of my country they're completely different from those Haramkhor mindset of the past. We'll soon surprise the world in economic growth and I'm confident about my claim.

Fall of Dhaka is certainly not a very proud chapter of Pakistan's history. A country separated by an enemy country was prone to propaganda, though blunders were done by Pakistani leaders after M. Ali Jinnah, all just kept busy in power struggle. We Pakistanis were kept in oblivion, otherwise things would have been different. We don't criticize Mr. Mujeeb ur Rehman for anything or anyone else form East Pakistan of that time. But do feel deep remorse that people were not given the power to sort there own problems and were deprived of very people who initiated Pakistan's movement. Our literature and national celebrations show high of all the Bengalis leaders and people who devoted to Pakistan's independence.
We should read unbiased books, no matter how much or less it criticize Pakistan, mistakes were done by our Leadership and propaganda was spread by Indians.
