    Tamdhu must have some really nice casks because I haven't had a bad one yet. The 12 is really nice the 15 decadent and the batch strength is also really good. I picked the batch strength for my whisky of the year for 2022 it just hit the right spot....cheers!!!

    Look forward seeing you get to your first 1000. You deserve it.
    Have added the 15yr old to my list actually but i think Glenallachie 15 may be even nicer? Not tried the Tamdhu distillery yet. The whisky list is at around 40 bottles... there is only so many i can drink and afford to stash!
    The one i really want to try, and will buy on a very special occasion is Springbank 12 cask strength. You tried that? I really love the 10, and 15 was interesting too, but i only had a little sample of that one

      Appreciate the love!
      The never ending whisky list! I have the same situation 😂
      The GlenAllachie 15 is definitely sweeter (I love them both). I may need to do a Tamdhu 15 Versus Glenallachie 15 video!

      I definitely lean into sherried whiskies. This one is surprisingly good for chill filtered and 43%

      @@McIntyresMalts I move from either a very clean just ex-bourbon matured peated or unpeated whisky to again peated or unpeated (as they both have merits) wine finished/matured whiskies like Bordeaux, Tawny Port, Rioja etc. I love a PX touch but it's the Oloroso that really puts me off.

  • @allanboyd7528

    I struggled with this as I had already had the 15yr then batch stgh. which I adored and repurchased both (on special). It also has some stiff competition with Glendronach, Deanston ,even Bunnahabain 12y old's
    Thanks,
    AL

  • @canal-do-guga-namura

    It’s delicious, but I wouldn’t say it destroys the Macallan. It’s actually rather similar to the 12 sherry oak… maybe less sherry forward than the Macallan.

    • @McIntyresMalts
      @McIntyresMalts  Год назад +4

      Where I am the Tamdhu 12 is $105 Vs. Macallan 12 Sherry Oak for $130+
      Tamdhu is 43% and Macallan is 40% ABV
      The Tamdhu has better flavour, better stats, better value. I'd buy it over the Macallan 12 Sherry Oak every day of the week.

      @@McIntyresMalts if you add value to the mix, yeah, it destroys the Macallan. But I’m not 100% sure I enjoy the Tamdhu more. Need to do a side by side myself one of these days. Cheers!

    Tried several of the Tamdhu expressions, including the Cask Strength & like Macallan there’s a common note in it that I just can’t stomach, despite all the hype given to the brand.

    • @McIntyresMalts
      @McIntyresMalts  Год назад +1

      Yeah if you don't like Macallan you won't like Tamdhu. You not a fan of sherry influence on a whisky Clinton or just on these specific ones?

      @@McIntyresMalts I enjoy my Sherry matured, huge Bunna fan, enjoy the Glengoynes & was a huge fan of the old GlenDronachs. So not the Sherry influence that puts me off, I also enjoy the ginger notes in most whiskies, but these two have a note similar to ginger that I don’t enjoy, it’s the spicy note that stays in the finish.
