  • Join me for Part Two of our visit to Tokyo in Episode 6 of Moments in Time where I explore the Odaiba waterfront along with my good friend, Giovanni Piliarvu, and we photograph a lesser-known Tokyo landmark, the Rainbow Bridge, during blue hour. After that, he’ll share with us some of his favorite out of the way spots gained over the last decade of exploring Tokyo’s hidden back alleys.
In Japan, dinner and drinks with colleagues is pretty common and I had the privilege of joining some of Fujifilm's core team to discuss their stance on the constantly changing market of photography.
Before hopping the bullet train to Kyoto, I couldn’t miss the chance to experience the infamous and wildly entertaining Robot Restaurant in Tokyo’s Kabuki-cho area, where I was officially crowned the one true Robot King.
In this Moments in Time series, we take a journey around the world together, and share about photography, travel, people, food, experiences, and everything that happens between the frames I capture. Subscribe to this channel for new episodes each week.

"Photography can be summed up as, it's not what you do with the best of the weather, but the rest of the weather." - Elia Locardi.

You brought up a good point when going to a city or location to do other things then getting the shot you wanted. When planning, I always look for good places to eat, drink and things to do. If you go somewhere and it rains all the time, you’ll need something else to do. Taking the photo is only part of my trip when I travel, its also about the journey and experiences.

Look forward to next post picking up at end of bullet train voyage. Any photos taken from the moving train?

I will translate in Sardinian language what Giovanni said after the meal:
-A buffasa? (Do you want a drink?)
And of course, he chose a classical Sardinian alcoholic drink: the Abbardente (burning water).
As you all can see, my name is Giovanni Pilia, and I'm from Sardinia too. So when Elia started to say that an italian friend of his was waiting for him, and his name is Giovanni Pilia...rvu, I was like: WHAAAAT??? that was funny!

I have a trip to Japan coming up soon and how fortunate I am to have come across your channel. Have subed your channel and watched all 3 Japan videos. How did you manage with all your gear bags and luggage on public transport? I'll myself be going there with 2 dslr bodies and 5 lenses and a tripod on a backpack plus another big sized luggage with all my other things. Planning to go Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Kobe, Hiroshima, Miyajima and Kamakura and it's quite scary to think about going all those places carrying the heavy camera bag and luggage on public transport
