Photographing Prague - Moments In Time Ep 10

- With stunning classic, baroque, rococo, and gothic architecture, Prague is as beautiful as it is historic, and it’s also one of the best cities in Europe for photography. Since it’s such an amazing place to visit, Prague also attracts an incredible amount of tourists that can make getting certain shots very difficult. In this episode, we navigate the old streets and buildings looking for the best light, while learning how to best avoid the crowds.
I meet up with my friend and talented conceptual photographer and artist, Erik Johansson, as he takes us on a tour of his studio and walks us through his incredible creative process from the conceptual side all the way through production and final digital editing. His work is truly surreal and it’s an amazing experience to get a full demonstration of his workflow.
During this episode, we pay a visit to Centrum PhotoSkoda, one of the largest and most impressive camera stores in Europe. The owners Milan and Martin Skoda, take us on a tour of both the modern and the historic as we visit the museum and learn about Prague’s rich history and photographic legacy.
In this Moments in Time series, we take a journey around the world together, and share about photography, travel, people, food, experiences, and everything that happens between the frames I capture. Join our Moments in Time Flickr community for access to two exclusive mini episodes, and new episodes will be published here on RUclips every Tuesday morning.

Your the best photographer in the whole world and the coolest man alive!
Thank you!
The interview with Erik was such a nice bonus!
I don't usually comment on videos, but I've shot the sunset from that same tower over the Charles bridge (maybe even the same exact spot) 2 years ago, using the techniques from Photographing the world 2 and it's one of my favourite photos. I just wanted to stop by and express my gratitude for the awesome content and inspiration you bring to the community, Elia. Keep it up!!!
mi6aki you should definitely comment more on videos. It’s nice to hear from you!
Thanks for the feedback! It's definitely nice to hear from you here. :)
@@EliaLocardi thank you both for the replies :) it's people like you that help me overcome myself and start spreading the love in the comment section, as well as help me grow as a photographer. Thank you!
Great. I can't wait to see you next week.
Always nice to be in Rome. :)
Next time you are in town I'll buy you a coffe!
The best video about photography in Prague. Well done Elia!
Thanks!
These really keep getting better and better, this one is awesome. Thanks Elia
Thank you!
So many beautiful places to photograph and so little time. As I have said before, the addition of different artists, styles and techniques add so much to this series. Thank you.
Prague has a lot to see and photograph. :)
Erik is so awesome!!
Every episode is as good or better than the previous, this is picture making at its best! Thanks EL
Thanks!
I liked both the wide angle and the telephoto shot case from the tower. To bad for the flood lights. God, I would love to visit Prague. Nice work Elia.
Thanks Max!
Definetely of of my fav video so far. As a Prague lover, really enjoyed the ride, and Erik´s art appearence just put the video on next level.
Thanks for the feedback!
#Erik is my inspiration. His photo made me fall love with Photoshop in 2015 ... Thank you soo much for awesome episode with Erik ... We love your work 😊
Glad to hear it. Erik inspires me as well. :)
Elia I love this new video format. Love the idea behind, getting to know new spot and new photographer and the way they express themself. Regarding the two shots the wide one is the one I like most, I can feel the air and spaces. Thanks Elia
Thanks Luca!
Amazing video. As a roman I’m looking forward to see the next episode!
Grazie!
fantastic very informative as always
Fab. Enjoyed this episode the most so far I think.
It's one of my favorites so far too!
Love the walking intro segment here at 16:25
That was a great video! Your style is a nice combination of travel, documentary, and photo instruction. It sets you apart!
Thank you!
Excited for your Seoul episode!!
Prague seems to be an awesome city to shoot photo's. I liked the wide shot more because i like the surrounding and lights of the cathedral. Great episode again. Keep it up.
Thanks!
I like the zoomed in version. The channel is excellent and hopefully will continue. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback!
"Standing in place for 4 hours with Elia Locardi" has a nice ring to it :P
I don't think it would go far. ;)

Nice job Elia! Erik is magic!
Love Prague. Your video did it justice.
Appreciate that!
Totally agreed. Landscape and cityscape is basically standing and waiting for hours at a single spot waiting for the light
Yup, it's true. :)
Thanks Elia. I’ll be in Prague Sunday. Enjoying Budapest from Buda. Location is almost everything. Another excellent Moments in Time!
Enjoy!
That is pure gold.
I loved the interview with Erik Johansson. I've been following him since a long time ago and I think he's an amazing artist. Seeing you together has been a great surprise!
He inspires me as well and I'm happy to count him as a friend. :)
Loving this series Elia, and I have to mention what a great job your videographers do. Cheers
Yes, they are top notch! :)
The wide shot is my favorite! Very nice episode Elia, Erik’s work is amazing. I hope you’ll meet another great fellow photographer or artist in Rome. Fantastic work, thanks!
Thank You!
I like the wide angle shot but the zoom shot is close behind. Great video especially with Erik.
Fantastic! Learning so much! Thanks Elia 👍
I love the wide shot! These behind the scenes are so helpful. Thank you!!!
Thanks Robin!
Amazing! Beautiful!...Great Stuff...Love em All
Both shots are really nice but I'm leaning towards the wide for my favorite. Enjoying these episodes very much. Thanks Elia!
Thanks for the feedback. I actually posted the wide to Facebook and a cropped version to Instagram. :)
What a coincidence ... ! Just i was thinking about this vlog or episode... I am receiving notifications...
Nice timing!
Yes, I’ve been waiting for this episode!!! Heading to prague in 3 weeks.
this series is just getting better and better ! Can't wait for Rome !! The invite for Dublin is still open Elia.....
Thanks! I could use a pint!
@@EliaLocardi No better place than the home of the Black Stuff for a decent pint and some craic, your pint is waiting for you.....
Just returned from Rome, can’t wait to see your next video!
Prague 😍 I love it! Europe is so full of awesome places. Nature and cities....
I am really liking this series. Great combination of teaching points and interesting travel destinations/people. Oh and I liked the wide shot better in the end of this video....
Thanks for the feedback!

Awesome video, great info, entertaining and educational (everything you could want!)
Thank you!
Great to see my hometown through your eyes.
Doing great work my friend. 👌👌👌
That second tower was so much better, great spot to shoot Prague 😀
I loved the wide shot 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
Elia Locardi ahh and Prague is beautiful as you said. Great city for photography 😀📸
Loving this series more and more, I hope there is much, much more to come!

Now that (FotoŠkoda) is my idea of what a camera store needs to be.
It's awesome for sure!
Good episode Elia! The wide shot definitely
Just awesome
I like the wide angle more
Such an interesting video. Just perfect 👌.
EXACTLY what I wanted to see. Going in October !
Nice!
I thought I've seen you in the store but wasn't sure. Great that you payed a visit. :)
I've been a few times now. Great place!
Wow, this is really good!
Great content as usual and perfect timing. I will be visiting Prague in 4 weeks. Thank you for sharing.
Liked and comment before even watching it.... That's how much I loved this Channel 😄

I hope the series Moment In Time will be endless, I love your channel Elia :) keep up the good content
We're starting to plan the next season. :)
@@EliaLocardi So cool 😎 your advices are really valuable for the novice I am and the meetings with locals and photographers make the video very pleasant to watch .
I'm not a pro but I wanna make my way into photography.
@jonathanjo60 on instagram if you wanna have a look :)
I am sending a greeting from the Czech Republic! Thank you for your visit here! :)
We had an awesome time!
Beautiful guide
I’ll be honest and say I wasn’t struck by the first few episodes of this Moments in Time Series. But I have gotten a lot of inspiration from Elia’s work including his Fstopers PTW series so I persevered.
But this Moments series has gotten better and better. This Prague episode and the Dutch episodes were excellent. Well done.
Oh. And it’s the zoomed shot for me.
Looking forward to Rome thou I can guess Elia will visit some of the same spots he did on PTW. But bet it will be great.
Thanks John!
Beautiful photos Elia! I was wondering what tripod you were using in this episode.
Although there are elements of the wide shot that are nice, like being able to see some action on the street, I’m voting for the zoomed (tighter) shot simply because I feel the near rooftops are somewhat distracting, pulling my attention away from the more interesting towers in the distance. BTW, super interesting episode. That camera store is unbelievable and your photo/artist friend is simply a genius with such an imagination - BRAVO !
Nice. Great feedback, thanks!
Love it, I'll put it in my wish list 😁👍
eric , inspired me a lot. Tnx for bringing him in
How interesting is Erick's work
Great video again! I know I need to visit Prague and take images there. But now I am more determined than ever. And I never heard about this museum/school/shop/galery...!
Thank you!
First! Excited much!!! 😁🇵🇭
I like the zoomed-in last image more than the wide shot. Awesome episode!!
Thanks!
Sorry to bother you, but that's not Czech flag. Czech flag looks like this: 🇨🇿🇨🇿🇨🇿
Martin Kimla but I don’t live in Czech, I live in the Philippines 🇵🇭. 😅
@@CelineAndDennisMurillo Ehm, ok? 😂 Nvm then
Man! I love the work you do! And started to follow you everywhere :). Great job you are doing as a photographer and as a guy, who makes such an interesting video, that helps a lot those who just starting photography. But man, I was shocked when I see Eric Johanson here with you, cause I am big fan of him! Wow, guys, you are great!
Thanks Jack! I appreciate that!
Your videos are incredible! We prefer the wide shot, naturally also the zoom shot it is beautifull
Thank you!
Awesome!! Got a chance during my trip to London to check out the video.
Great place! I got so motivated too 🥳
Awesome video 👌
The zoomed in is my favourite 👌
The zoomed shot is my favorite. But both are great :)
I lived in Prague for 3 years! My heart still lives there!
Always good to hear about fond memories. It's one of my favorite cities. :)
Elia Locardi I sent you on Instagram a place you might like to visit! ;)
Another great episode. One thing I am not looking forward to is the series coming to a close.
I guess it's a good thing we are planning a second season. :)
Amazing like others épisodes ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍 the wide shot better than long shot
Hi Elia :D :D Stunning video as usual :D
Excellent explanation on composition.. I liked the zoom in image more.. 😀
Thanks for the feedback!
Great video, very interesting.
I liked the wide shot better.
I recommend to visit also Cesky Krumlov and Josef Seidel photo museum/studio, in case you haven't been there yet. It is a beautiful place.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Nicley done Elia. Eric Johansen is a creative Master , and a Hasselblad Ambassador i believe. I know Hasselblad use some of his wok on their YT channel.
Ewan
Thanks Ewan!
Thanks for this. I was back in Prague this summer. One of my favourite cities ❤️
Nice! Glad to hear you enjoyed the city!
Hahaha I can’t watch it right now, I’m very busy (I’m a Doctor and have some patients to take care) but once I get back home I will make a coffee, sit down (In Iraq, because I’m a humanitarian Worker) and relax watching this video 😀
Awesome! Let me know what you think!
Elia Locardi I just watched it and as usual, after watching it, I just want to go out and take photos hahaha!
If you are interested in taking a look of some picture from Syria and Iraq that I took you can check this Instagram account: luisgomar1985
Actually, I'd really like to.
The wide is my favorite. I am heading Mexico City in October. I hope to use some of your techniques shooting the city. Thanks.
it's beautiful to hear you speaking italian, I mean, cause of your name! You will be welcome in Italy, every time you want to come
I'm a bit rusty to be honest. Too much time out of Italy. ;)
Just love it
wide shot 👍👍👍🤘
Thank you. So beautiful 🤩
again a very cool video with interesting facts. But as always I have another question about this video. Not about your beautiful photos but you have that last photo in the tower you have a different clamp (tool thing) on the balustrade with a ball head what is the name of this because it can sometimes be handy that thing? verders again a great video Elia
That is the Multi-Clamp by Really Right Stuff.
Love the photo at 16:11
Dammit.... I've been to Prague 4 times and never went up that Powder Tower lol.... now I'm really regretting it. Hope you got a chance to see "Dancing House" when you were there. Pretty awesome architecture!
Next time!
your camera set ups are awesome! Great photos, i'm glad you made the jump to Fujifilm cameras. yes, I know a camera is only a tool but the quality is outstanding! I can't wait for Rome!
Thanks!
this time zoomed photo is looking good.
Definitely the tighter one.
You are returning to Rome in next episode?
Getting ready for a two hour episode 😍😍😍😍
Haha, we'll keep it under 20 min. ;)
@@EliaLocardi but please tell me it's going to be a 2 episode city 🙏
Actually, no, just one. The second Italian episode is in Bassano del Grappa.
@@EliaLocardi wow I never heard of that place before. I'll have to check it out!
I wish I could meet you in Prague... You should visit Kutna Hora also ;)
Maybe next time. :)
@@EliaLocardi Yeah, just msg me, I can give you a tour =)
