This is what you want, a real experience of Japan, mixing with the locals, taking in the sites and sampling tastes of authentic Japanese food what more can you ask for. Truly awesome.
Just like to say your videos are great and have been really helpful in planning for my trip next year. Nice to see videos focused on places rather than the people making them. Really informative and your personality still shines through!
You have quickly become one of my top resources for planning my upcoming trip to the area. Thank you for highlighting local, non tourist, areas! Keep up the good work!
Hi I recently started watching lots of your vids after the RUclips spotlight thing and I wanted to say I love them!! I want to travel to Japan one day but for now I just watch your videos ;)
Wow! Those areas are truly such hidden treasures. The street food looks amazing also. I am so glad you ate the donut that fell, I would have also :) I really loved this video.
I agree completely with everything you said! Yanaka, Shitamachi, and other old neighborhoods are my favorite in Tokyo and all over Japan. The fruit tree you pointed to is loquat, or biwa. Totemo oishii desuyo. (Also medicinal.) Thanks for your great videos, perceptions, and the way you show things.
Oh, I enjoyed exploring Yanesen with my family. Thanks for letting us re-live this wonderful experience. University of Tokyo is very near Nezu Shrine and people will enjoy the new statue of a happy Hachiko reunited with his master. We miss Tokyo everyday.
thanks for sharing, me and my flatmate from Christchurch are spending two weeks in Japan starting the end of july. I'm so excited to escape winter and explore some of the places you've suggested!
I've been watching a lot of your videos. I am traveling to Japan next friday for a month and I've learned A LOT from your videos!!! Thank you very much :)
Since I am going to visit Japan next month I am very thankful for this video, because most of the other clips I found where centered around the common locations. Your video definitely gave me some more options to get to know the "real Nihon". :)
I was in Japan 40 years ago. I was an 18 year old US GI. You have stimulated my memory of good times. I spent 1.5 years there. I would love to come back on vacation.
Thank you for your video. It's very interesting! So surprising to see a lot of Tokyo's corners where it's possible to see and make experience of every day life of japanese!
Excelent video! I agree that when you travel ia an awesome idea to have some time with the locals, in local and common places and activities. Thank you for showing us that places. I loved the candy animals shop!
Hi, I glad there someone who like this kind of place rather than the waaaay crowded usual tourist site, like I watch well known restaurants in the alley variety shows, somehow it have more appealing view than in the main street shop, love it. Oh have u ever travel around in the alley, any alley, the view & the feeling just to watch it there are just so great, so i hope sometime u can make another
Hey Angela! I'm a fellow kiwi in Tokyo and I absolutely love your videos. They always give me travel inspiration when planning excursions within Tokyo and beyond. I particularly enjoy your 'Hidden Spots' series and am enchanted by the area of Nezu. Do you have any recommendations for places with a similar local vibe? I really want to make the most of my Summer vacation and see as much of Tokyo as possible!
Thank you so much for this video! I am going to visit Japan for the first time next week and stay in the hotel in this area. I didn't know it is so amazing!

Thanks a lot! This channel has officially become my Tokio travel guide
This area you showed is all in 10 minutes walking from the dormitories that I will be moving into on march 25th! You made me even more excited to go!! New subscriber here :)
Another great video. I like how the regular life in Japan has narrow streets, but still kind of peaceful for some reason. 6:06 You said "most oldest shrine". Lol!
Thank you! Yeah, it has such a nice regular side to it where there's much more culture beaneath it! That side gets losts on RUclips though :( And yeah LOL my English sucks after coming here.. Please ignore it XD
I died at the kid yelling "Ahh!! Maketa~!" at 7:03!! hahaha!!! Oh Japan, your young ones are awesome!! Angela, message for you: you never dull a moment with your wonderful videos!!~~ Arigatou!
Thank you so much for this. I've added a few places form this video to my list for my trip in August. Thank you for highlighting Japan for me. Because of you and a couple of other RUclipsrs, I can say I have a decent list of places to go for food and culture when I arrive. Can't wait to start actually shooting my own content!
great videos.being from New Zealand aswell its always good to have information about areas in Japan before hand.(Tena koe) greetings to you in my language and keep the videos rolling.
I wish I had this guide when I went last year. I was in Tokyo for 9 days and mostly stuck to Akihabara and Tsukiji. Definitely good to know for my next venture there.
I love this video and also others too... if you would be able to show or draw in detail where you went, the routes you walked. Would be great..thank you
Glad I stumbled into your video! :) Planning to travel there soon and as someone who's not exactly a fan of modern metropolises this one is a good alternative route!
One tip. Go where you really want to go and plan it which will come first. 3 days in saporro and 4 days in tokyo.. oh and also we went to disney land for the whole day. It is also packed with people had to wait in line an hour for the rides and for the snacks Just so you know so really 3 days in tokyo. We want to go to places for pics in tokyo and didnt had that much time for shopping and are always in a hurry. Our mistake was not having a good plan by going from one side of yamanote line then going to the opposite of the circle of yamanote line. And all stores in harajuku closes at nine in the evening. Maybe our next trip to japan we will stick to tokyo for 7 days with a plan. I really didnt quite enjoy japan to the fullest for the first time but i still had a fun time. Cant wait to go back there
@@krayzieegg7294 a recommendation: Tokyo Sky Tree! My parents went there in 2019, and now it’s a mandatory spot whenever we go to Japan (it’s that amazing)
I watch anime and japanese films not for the stories but for those little bits where we are shown the houses, the meals, the every day life. Big fan of costumbrism: life in small neghbourghoods, people doing daily shopping, small streets, old little shops run by very old peolpe who have been there for ever and are part of the urban landscape..., yes more every day life, please! :)
I'm commenting a rather old video, but I found your channel today and fell in love with it! Btw, those fruits are called "níspero" in Spanish and are delicious!
Thanks for your videos. I will be travelling on October to Japan, it will be my second visit to such a great country and your suggestions are being very useful. Seeming that i will be staying in Kawasaki, Zou no hana park is a must !!!! Again, thank you for your videos, i will be checking the rest of them in the forthcoming days.
internationally ME, just wanted to thank you on your recommendation for seeing Yanaka Ginza Street and the neighbourhood. I went there during my visit of Tokyo this past June and enjoyed it very much. I had the best ever cream puff in a bakery on Yanaka Ginza. The whole neighbourhood looks very nice. Thanks!
I love this video. We are planning our trip for this Fall and this is exactly what I was looking for. A look at how the locals live not just all the tourist spots. Thank you for this great video.
When I'll visit Nihon, I will be out in the wilderness and the rural places as much as possible. I want to experience the inspiration that the old Japanese had, and want to uncover at least a little bit of the essence of their spirit, that came from that environment. I will have to be there in autumn and in spring.
Great video! I found your channel through the video you did with Only in Japan so I subscribed and looking forward to checking out more of your past videos and future ones as well!
Yanesen was absolutely my favourite place for a peaceful walk in Tokyo, especially Yanaka Cemetery and Nezu Shrine :) I saw many of the famous stray cats of Yanaka as well!
Hi! The fruit you asked for is very common here in Brazil, almost every yard has one of these trees. It is called nêspera (in portuguese), or Medlar in english. They are very sweet and are of the same family of the plums. I love your vídeos! I'm planning to visit Japan soon.
