The theater at Kabuki tower is sooooo much better tho. It's expensive, but totally worth it. Just like a 4 min walk from the Toho Cinemas shown here too.
Yes! We went to a nomihoudai in Shinjuku one night and ended up with some strange charges on our bill at the end. Lesson learned! The ramen yatai street stall we ate at to end the night was wonderful though!
Was in Shinjuku for a week back in May. The choice of restaurants and bars in the area was completely overwhelming at first ..... but eventually became just regular overwhelming. Loved every minute we were there.
Great video! I've been to some of these places but that Izakaya looks like and I never knew there was a club underneath Kabukicho tower?!?! すごい. Stay hydrated lol
Raw eggs are so good. I eat them most days here in America. As long as you source from trustworthy farms, raw beef and eggs are perfectly safe. Even more so in Japan I imagine. 09:00
I’m in the states and love TKG, and we often eat raw or marinated yolks. My husband still is a bit grossed out by it, especially when I crack a whole raw egg into something lol but my kids were raised eating very adventurously cause I love to cook 😁
3D cat was impressive! Heat and water in hot summer days is something to remember.. I remember old films where they used umbrellas during hot days. I remember that one Finnish writer made guide book called Tokyo pass, where he told about different locations and Golden Kai was one of them.
Shinjuku's my favorite place to visit when I'm in Japan. I saw Godzilla -1 in IMAX when I was there in November and saw it at the Toho theater. How could I not? I'm guilty of walking past that restaurant on the corner and not eating there. I'll have to my next trip out.
I just got back from Tokyo and I stayed at the Capsule Hotel nearby and I must say that I enjoyed my visit immensely. I am planning to go back again. Your video is very educational and entertaining. If anyone is on the border and not sure if they should go visit I would encourage them to just buy the Airfare, book the hotel and Go!
I used to eat natto with spring onions, a little soy sauce and mustard, and a raw quail egg. Mix it all up and it's great! And yes! Raw egg with sukiyaki is amazing! Thanks for another great video! You seemed a little delirious today for sure, Sarah. I hope you and your cameraman both stayed properly hydrated. The Mrs. and I are planning a couple days in Tokyo for our upcoming trip next month. I don't think we'll have time for Shinjuku this time, though. We have a few other places on our itinerary already. I think we'll be looking for the Hachiko statue at Shibuya, though. And I think we're going to do a day at Disney Sea. At first I thought it was just a water park, so I wasn't that keen, but your video there with Lyssa piqued my interest. My wife's always been a Disney fan, so it was her suggestion to go there. Edit: I've just got to add: a literal donkey would have been an obvious choice for a Don Qi mascot :P

I'm planning to go to Tokyo 🗼 this spring, hopefully. Watching your content is making more want to plan better, your videos are so fun to watch. Appreciate your videos thank you
I have never liked eggs, but there is something special about Japanese eggs. I lived in Osaka 92-94 and ate raw eggs with lots of things. Especially sukiyaki. Definitely recommend trying even if you don't like eggs like me. But really....get unagi and curry 🍛 😊😊. (Probably not together )😮
When I was in Japan I ordered some dish that had rice and cooked meat on top and the lady asked if I wanted tamago which I said yes. When they brought out my meal I saw the raw egg (My first) and thought "Oh I thought you were gonna give me a cooked egg". Ended up mixing it around and eating it anyway. It was actually pretty damn good 😋
3:55 - The food hall also occasionally has performances on, inviting groups from all over Japan to re-enact performances from their local festivals. There's a company called Omatsuri who organise them. I've not been over to see any of them, but it was covered on NHK World reasonably recently. 5:22 - That's very likely to be one of those performances - interesting perspective X'D
One of my favorite places to eat is komeraku in the lumine II building on the 7th floor connected to shinjuku station. It's not anything too special but they have a karrage and ochazuke set that is so damn good. Always hit this place when I'm there.
I'm really interested in a what kind of Japanese things foreigners are interested because I feel so good all of things like service, food etc you know, every time when I return to Japan from where I have based for now Japan which is compared to I have ever been to country and foreigners are as thinking as same with me or not so.I'm looking forward a new video on RUclips and have been supporting you. From Japanese is based in Leeds,UK.Cheers
I stayed in Kabukicho in February. What’s convenient was the airport buses were near the hotel I stayed. I didn’t go to Kabukicho Tower. It seemed too touristy and I wanted to avoid inbound prices. One thing that I found sketchy were guys approaching women for “various” purposes. My female Japanese friends don’t like going there.
Any tips for finding an affordable place there haha? It looks like the pricing is wild haha compared to other sections of tokyo for my trip in April haha
I almost never go to Shinjuku... There is a very good bookstore in Shinjuku called Kinokuniya next to Takashimaya. It sells books and magazines in English.
I stayed at Hotel Gracery in September of 2023. Kabukicho Tower was very new and amazing. I'm currently plotting my return, maybe in 2025, but not in the summer.
Edit: typed this before I got to the bit where you did give the advice. Great job! I’ll leave it though because they are good points if you’re visiting the area. I do feel like glossing over the adult entertainment aspect of Kabukicho is bit disingenuous when giving advice on tourism in the area. As a tourist you need to exercise caution. There are East African gangs present, they hang around on groups on every street and they will hassle and you trying to lure you towards adult services in a bid you scam or rob you. I’m saying this from first hand experience in December. I was hassled literally from the moment I stepped foot outside the hotel for the first time. There are warnings played over the loud speakers from the Police during the day about it. It’s going to be most prevalent if you’re a solo male traveller. It’s quite unsettling having someone follow and put their hands on you while loudly shouting about the services they can get you. Be assertive and firm telling them you’re not interested and keep walking. They will lose interest. I wouldn’t describe it as a dangerous area or somewhere you should avoid altogether but definitely keep your guard up.
@@gregdee9085 yeah RUclipsrs tend to really gloss over how seedy the area is. I spent my first week in Japan there alone and I couldn’t recommend it. Like, I went to Chris Broads recommendation of Hanbey, it’s literally on the 5th floor of a building of Brothels.
I think the camera u re using to film has a couple of dead pixels, very noticeable during the night scenes at the end of the video. Great video tho as always
we ate raw egg in Hungary, when i was a child 20-30 years ago mixed with sugar, but we never ate raw chicken, that is the real deal.. i would never eat it, sometimes i think, how could we ate eggs, but in dough i lick the spoon sometimes and there is also raw egg with sugar and flour, too... One part of me loves, because it tastes nice, but a growing part of me says, it is gross, i need to grow up and never do it again

Not to mentioned overpriced. Also sure, a little hyped as well but they do have a hanbei in shinjuku as well which looks fairly okay. and is it just me, is it a typo, isnt it Futatsu?

Looking forward to going to Japan eventually. I will add there may be a dead pixel or something on your camera. The night shots at the end had a single bad pixel that was a little distracting because I thought it was my screen. once I moved the video it followed the video.
the way they handle eggs in japan makes it safe to eat them raw compared to the us and some other countries where they do odd things to the eggs that renders them unsafe to eat raw.
@@jamescorrigan6063they have machines in Japan that inspect the eggs using spectroscopy & also eggs in the US are washed in such a way that removes a protective coating on the shell which makes them more resistant to salmonella. The izakaya spot you highlighted used to be a fruit shop. I remember first seeing it in 01.
I watched Chris add a raw egg to some noodles. I have been adding raw eggs into my noodle soups almost every time since then.
