- This is a review of the Sony's latest 10.3-inch E Ink Digital Paper device, the Sony DPT-CP1. Basically it's exactly the same as the RP1; it just has a smaller screen.

Personally I think the Onyx Boox Note is far better software-wise. See review: blog.the-ebook-reader.com/201... Развлечения
Great review, excellent job picking a scientific book like this one to show, with equations and formulas, some reviewers miss that crucial aspect and just show text-only pdfs.
in my humble opinion a pdf book reader without the "back to previous page" button shouldn't even be released, it's like driving a car without reverse gear. It's amazing how slow electronic ink technology is! We should already have this technology on all laptops, desktops and smarthphone monitors because it's an eye health issue, but far from it, it still barely makes it back to the previous page in book readers
Great review ... looking forward for the pen comparison between Onyx and Sony!
Does the update working on the RP1 ?
How often do you have to change the tip ?
There is a crop option, right between the pen menu and the search menu.
oh this is black! just bought the white one in Ginza! excellent for working!
Are you able to downlode a paper for like math use?
Looking forward to the comparison with onyx boox note. Would 10 inches display be comfortable to read scientific papers? I have a big doubt to buy either dpt rp1 or onyx boox note
I know there is a device which has can response as quickly as LCD. It has quick refresh rate. I hate lag. It seems called E-ink Monitor Paperlike Pro 2019 Touch. Expect......
The only reason I could think of that one would buy this over the Oynx Boox Note is for security. I have the Boox Max 2. It's fantastic, but there is no security.
My pen doesn't charge. when I plug in, the light turns on for a second and disappears. I am able to write for a minute while its plugged on and it stops working. Nothing happens when its not plugged in. Any solutions please.
Does it have a one-page landscape mode?, I've seen for example that with the Onyx Boox Note you can use it to read the PDF's on landscape mode with one-page mode so you can take advantage of the screen size... but Can you do the same with the DPT CP1? Actually I'm thinking about purchasing the sony DPT CP1 rather than the Onyx Boox Note because of SONY quality of products.. cause Onyx Boox Note has presented problems with scratchings and lagging aspects... and...for the price of these products.. I would prefer a device that can maintain and work properly for years
you can't change the orientation of a file. however, if the book is already in landscape mode, it will detect it and change the menus accordingly.
It's a shame Sony ditched their e-tablet efforts. With coloured e-ink technology being developed, and a market which current has untapped potential, Sony could've pioneered and revolutionised the game for the better. Ah well, it is a niche market so I understand that POV.
Only just got this. Thanks RUclips.
Anyway, for some reason the CP1 display feels nicer on the eyes even in a video... maybe it's the lower amount of reflection? No Wacom EMR, so microSD card slot, and too a lesser extent no Android mean I'm not that interest though. It's a shame, as Sony's eReaders are by far the most stylish.
Can we play any video in this device?
I recently bought a onyx note. It can open all kinds of format. When I read scientific papers I could do some cutting to make it fit in 10.3. Maybe Sony wins in taking notes because of the fancy charging pen. Onyx also could do the screen split. More importantly, Sony really loses some key functions as no table of contents and no go back. I would totally vote for onyx.
Actually, even for note taking, the Onyx seems better, the Sony is showing much more delay from pen to screen.
They just release a new update. The note taken part really improve a lot.

@@yanlu61 thanks, will check it out
The only thing better in the Sony is the hardware, the design of the Sony with its flush screen is much better than the Onyx, but for everything else, the Onyx seems better.
Hi, guys. Can anyone recommend me a 13" E-ink monitor where I can connect with PC? I heard DASUNG Paperlike Pro. But not much. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.
How about scientific articles? Would 10-inch be too small for scientific papers comparing with 13-inch RP1?
It depends on how big the margins are, as with any PDF. With a proper margin-crop feature like on the Onyx Note I think a 10.3-inch screen is perfectly fine, but without that you might prefer the larger screen size, especially if you're going to use the side-note or two-page mode in landscape orientation.
Surprising plug in the end, eh?
Hello, my name is Lisa Is this an E-reader/Digital Paper? And if this is E-Reader, does it comes with Kobo??
Sony no longer makes these and it has nothing to do with Kobo. Check Onyx Boox ereaders if you want a large screen that can work with other apps like Kobo and Kindle.
@@TheeBookReader Hey there oh okay thought I ask... :-)
Does it show in black & white?
E-ink is monochromatic, so it just displays in B&W and grey. There's coloured e-ink technology being developed which is amazing, but sadly no mainstream release of a e-tablet with this technology in play.
Can the sony search by wifi and listen audio book ?
no, it doesn't play audio and it doesn't have a browser at all. you can only use wifi to transfer files to the device from the phone or pc app.
looks like boox note is still better than cp1
Come on. Even the remarkable does sound as well as pdf
Doesn't have an undo... I pity the poor artist who accidentally erases a good portion of their work :'(
PDF Only???? No EPUB? What is Sony thinking? what a deal breaker (besides cost)
It was originally marketed to businesses and folks like lawyers who normally print out hundreds of pages of PDFs to mark up and send back. There are thousands of free tools to convert EPUBs to PDFs, which are better suited for handwritten notes anyway.
You cant go back, only pdf, no lights. Its f bad
What a mess
Paper like feel??? It looks like another laggy e-Ink reader with a refresh rate of 1 Hz. The iPad with Pencil has 120 Hz. Actually, I don't see a future for this devices for note taking applications. It's still horrible slowly. Someone needs to reinvent the screen technology!
An iPad feels nothing like paper you fool. Stop talking about things you know nothing about
So iPad is still better
iPad is a great tablet, but it isn't e-ink/e-reader. I'm more interested in e-tablets due to the long term eye health benefits and the ever-growing functionality.
This shit costs more than an iPad, dislike.
