"I once had a guy come in here looking to buy an 'original' CloakShape. I just laughed and told him that there's no such thing as an 'original' CloakShape." - Mechanic Shug Ninx
That's one of the ships that i'd consider getting if i were to be in the SW universe. while subpar in every way when unmodified, being cheap & reliable & having a plethora of mods available for just about anything mean maintenance can be made easy, & customizations can be useful & highly personalized at the same time. as a guy who digs anything with character & personality, a ship that you can truly modify to become yours & one-of-a-kind, beats anything more advanced yet is just run-of-the-mill stuff with slight tweaks in my book.
I’ve always found most of the ships that aren’t ever seen on screen or only have one or two appearances in some video games or something (Scurrg H-6 for example) to be a lot more interesting than the ones we see all the time.
Diamond Boron Missiles FTW! Missiles that delete everything! I really wish we could see more of this amazing fighter in any Star Wars media nowadays, they're just so cool.
Most people would but the beauty of the cloakshape was if we were all in the star wars universe we'd be able to afford a Cloakshape long before we could get to the z-95. Keep in mind the Z-95 was more popular and constantly sought out given it was priced so much higher and seemingly less were made.
For a System Defense Force on a budget,Cloakshapes modified to be a missle/torpedo boat could be a good option for an anti-gunboat/corvette/frigate craft. Give it an escort of Z-95s or what ever fighters you can find on the cheap and you have a force that has the capability to punch above its weight. If its pilots have been given adequate training that is,never cheap out on the training.
I've seen other channels cover the cloakshape fighter, but this was one of the more in depth ones. Also enjoyed the various art of the cloakshape. Wouldn't mind seeing another analysis of an obscure starfighter, likenthe R-60 T-wing.
Did any planet build their own Cloakshapes after production stopped? In Star Wars ships can be built by small scale producers - the Rebels even managed to produce the X-Wing themselves. It could have been a sound defence strategy as Galactic tensions hotted up after the battle of Naboo for a system to indigenously produce modified and improved Cloakshape variants straight off the production line, for themselves (and allies). And to take advantage of all the different modifications to produce several different types and thus still have the advantage of the unpredictability of the Cloakshapes setup by having space superiority fighter variates in both short range interceptors and long range patrol craft, "Bomber" variants to attack larger ships, missile trucks for stand off attacks and so on. Have different optimised builds so that enemy pilots don't know if they're in a dog fight with the tank version or the super maneuverable version.... until it's too late. "Oh that's a droid operated tailgunner mod...💥" After a few decades their Base model could be as similar to the original specifications as the F-15EX is to the original 1976 F-15.
Some my thoughts too. With the right variants massed together in appropriate configurations an they're all sufficient or massively upgraded enough you could REALLY send even the most advanced enemies some real threats if these cloaks come in enough numbers
honestly it sounds like a great fighter for planetary and system defense. its cheap, flexible and adaptable. which is what a defense force needs, especially i they're on a budget.
This would be a pretty good galactic airplane. Modify the cargo to include passengers and bam. You got a space liner. Maybe a private one though. A private plane version of this ship would be sick
Not a fan of it enough to want to fly such a craft, but I must say, the Cloakshape is one good staple for X-Wing Alliance, plus the TIE Fighter Total Conversion mod. Obsolete it may be, at least it's not as groanworthy as the Zed-95 in my eyes.
I could see the cloakshape being used as a fighter/trainer. While other Fighters would be used in more specific combat rolls. I could also see it as an export fighter. It would kind of fill the role of the T38 and the F5. Or maybe similar the T37 trainer and the A37 Dragonfly. Depending on configuration.
What he doesn't mention is how widely copied the cloakshape was. Because it was so common, widespread and easy to maintain, a lot of outer rim "ship yards" coppied the design and churned these out by the hundreds. The fact that almost all cloakshapes were heavily modified made it difficult to tell if one was a Kuat original. And it really was the perfect outer rim fighter. This thing is the AK-47 of star fighters, cheap, rugged, reliable, with plenty of Chinese knockoffs. One guy with a toolbox could practically rebuild one of these if he had enough time and second hand parts.
The 1978 VW beetle was licensed to be produced in a Puebla Mexico factory until 2003. It seems like something similar could happen in a galaxy so large and with such an important starfighter.
What are some common/notable Corellian Fighters? I feel like despite being such a massive industrial world and a major shipyard, they never really tapped into the fighter market, despite modularity being Corellia’s specialty.
Since Starwars is a tinkerer's paradise, anything that is modular and customizable will sell well, and anything that can do everything decently will sell well to planetary security or paramilitary groups who took on a variety of jobs. Versatile craft for operators. I would have loved to see these on screen.
A vehicle I would like to see covered? I couldn't find anything on Nomad City's Mole Miners on youtube (I haven't looked very hard admittedly). I would love to see your breakdown on them. Was in the Heir To The Empire trilogy.
THE MECHANICUS HAVE SENT AN ENTIRE MANIPOL OF SKITARI AND A TITAN LEGIO TO RECLAIM THE STC's THAT WERE CLEARLY STOLEN DURING "OLD NIGHT", AND THE MINISTORUM HAS ALREADY DISPATCHED AN INQUISITOR TO SUSS OUT THIS HERESY.....SEEMS LIKE FILTHY XENOS TRICKERY TO ME!!! THE AMOUNT OF OILS AND INCENSE NEEDED TO PURGE THIS BLASPHEMY AND PURIFY ITS MACHINE SPIRIT ARE "ASTRONOMICON-AL"😅😅😅
Always had a soft spot for this ship. The Z-95 might get all the press as the budget precursor to the X-wing. But the Cloakshape was the workhorse that could fill a variety of roles depending on their loadout and build. Not quite up to modern standards but can still muscle its way through a scrap if needed.
Me personally, if I lived in the Star Wars galaxy, I would want to have this as my personal ship. Modify the interior to include a bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, etc. Give it shields as well and you’ve got a perfect bounty hunter ship. Plus, I’m sure I could get it a hyperdrive. I’m a pretty creative person. I feel if I had access to the resources, I could invent a hyperdrive for the cloakshade
@@DraconixMahvri Eta-2s & Delta-7s are ill-suited as personal live-in ships. while they're definitely more advanced, they ain't nearly as ubiquitous, meaning maintenance could be a pain in the ass in various ways, & they're just too damn small for carrying anything more than the pilot & an astromech droid.
@@DraconixMahvri Unless you're aiming for top of the line performance, that would have been dumb. It's far more difficult & troublesome to mesh incompatible parts together than to just use something built for the Cloakshape in the first place after all.
I would’ve added two power generators on my CS. 1 from a Tie and another from a Y-Wing. I would’ve removed the armor from the wings and added solar panels while using a Y-Wings engine nacelles. 1 would power the engines, shields and a class 1 hyperdrive while the other powered the weapons, life support and other systems.
The star fighter. It might be able to outspeed the f35s missiles. If it can't, probably the f35. I believe they can detect and target enemies while they're still out of visual range. I don't think most star fighters are shown to be able to do that, though star fighters are definitely more maneuverable and have more powerful weaponry.
Honestly? I would rock one any day of the week like yeah it’s not an A-Wing or a Y-Wing or any other flashy thing but it’s simple, it’s reliable and it’s endlessly adaptable.
Were there any snubfighters built specifically for smaller species to take advantage of reduced cockpit size requirements? If you can see eye to eye with a Jawa or Ewok, then a full human sized cockpit is just wasted space and mass that could be used for ships systems or omitted to improve performance. Conversly, no matter how formidable a Wookie is in ground combat, there's never going to be a Wookie fighter ace. As one outlaw mechanic said about their Z-95's, _"Sure, we can just juryrig a cupola on top, and that anthropomorphic dustmop can fly it with his knees."_ - Han Solo at Stars End. Shame to hear the Cloak Shaped fighters fell out of use. They do seem like a model that could continue to come in and out of popularity as long as parts were still available and a demand for replacements is there for smaller defense forces. Might have been a better option for the Mandalorian since its design is pre-empire and its modifiable for long ranged, hyper drive travel with a number of weapons and power mods.

The Vulture droid
the Tie but most of them where blown up :P
