The entire Clone Wars was just the Pixar chess short but with Palpatine as the old man. Palpatine is a lot smarter than anyone in universe knew, and this battle is proof of it.
He managed to deceive the Jedi, seemingly being able to pull the wool over their eyes when he enabled the Republic to commit atrocities. Sadly, this feat is overlooked by anti-Jedism among critics. That unhealthy and misplaced hate in the fandom has caused more problems than not.
Only thing I would add is that Plagues was the one who bought Sidious the chess board and taught him how to play. It can’t be understated how important Hugo Demas was in setting everything in motion before Palpatine kicked off the Clone Wars in 22 BBY.
This arc more than any other in The Clone Wars best demonstrated how the Sith were playing both sides of the conflict and that the entire war was just a front so that Palpatine could increase the power of the office of Supreme Chancellor until he could become Emperor.
Exactly! I love the world building in these episodes, where we see Palpatine get the unlimited access to funds he needs to realize his Empire. The behind-the-scenes stuff in Star Wars' politics is a big part of why this galaxy feels so lived in (at least to me.)
Fun Fact: "Aargau" being an IGBC world claming neutrality isn't a coincidence - "Aargau", in our world, is the name of a Canton of Switzerland... which also has a tradition of political neutrality and is known for its banking system.
This move by Palpatine is so obviously a power grab, I'd hardly call it "5D chess." I might have the benefit of hindsight, but considering that Dooku warned Obi-Wan of Sidious' control of the senate years ago on Geonosis, you'd think Palpatine conveniently getting control of the banks would raise immediate red flags. Don't get me wrong, I love these episodes! It's just obvious, knowing human nature, when someone is given immense power nine times out of ten they won't "give it back when the war is over." Palpatine isn't necessarily a genius, everyone else in the Republic are just naive and arrogant.
@@zexalbrony4799 the similar colors patterns between the different clone units might be why the battalion that depa billaba led was changed to green in the bad batch.
They’d probably lose considering how dangerous the Flood is, even if Palpatine and Vader had the peak of the Empire at their fingertips as well as the force.
The Forerunners were much more powerful than the 'modern' Star Wars factions and even THEY had to resort to using the Halo Array for a phyrric victory...
Depends on the time period. If it’s during the time of the empire the imperials might find the time to just blow up the planet stopping the flood if none got off world. Also if it’s in legends then Luke might either solo the flood or be infected horribly and become the flood’s champion
I just want to say this one thing about the Geetsly's channel. There were a whole lot of people who saw the 3 Mortis episodes and posted videos, and they were all dead wrong; every single one of them. I think they all, ALL OF THEM, said that the Daughter is the Light side of the Force, the Son was the Dark side of the Force, and the Father was the balance between them. Geetsly's akso posted a video, and it was wrong too, but he very nearly reasoned out the truth. In fact, if it was not for an obvservation he made in the video, I never would have caught on to what George Lucas and Dave Filoni were doing. I was watching the 3 episodes again, and thinking about how much the Daughter resembles the Jedi, as Geetsly's pointed out, and realized that she is a picture of the Jedi Order. The Son pictures the Sith. And the Father is a direct picture of the Jedi High Council. The planet itself picturess the galaxy as it is directly influenced by the Jedi Order and Sith. If you go back and watch the episodes again with that in mind, you'll instantly recognize that the episodes are a replay of the 6 movies, though not in exact chronological order. The moment Anakin comes out of his ship and his companions are noticing the strange nature of the planet, and the Daughter approaches Anakin with questions about his identity as the Chosen One then she tries to take him to her Father but she's attacked by her brother; we are seeing the events of The Phantom Menace. The episodes end with Anakin killing the Son at the end of Return of the Jedi. You might even recognize in the episodes Mace Windu and others of the Jedi Council approaching the Son to arrest him but the Son attacks the Father. Or Order 66, when the Son uses the Daughter's own weapon, the Clone Army (or dagger) to kill her. Let's not even get started with Ahsoka. Geetsly's has been my favorite channel since me seeing that video. I'm hoping Geetsly's comes out with another video re-explaining the Mortis episodes.
The Battle of Scipio only reinforced my belief that if the Sith are to secure total victory over the Jedi, allowing the Jedi to exist while the Sith themselves played the roles of powerful business magnates whose deaths can caused the collapse of the entire economy will be the much better plan. That way, the Sith get to rule the galaxy through economy and the Jedi cannot do anything but watch.
Really this should have been a eye opening reason that Palpatine was really over stepping his duties as it really was out of his control as a government official with no economic background or experience that would have allowed him to use the Banking Clans as his personal piggy bank for his new Galactic Empire.
Tyrion: So the way this works is I lend you a certain amount of money. After a set amount of time you pay me back said amount with interest. Count Bronn Dooku: Yeah but what if I don’t? Tyrion: This is why I don’t lend you money. Clovis should’ve contacted the Republicans immediately following Dolly’s threat, citing their refusal to pay back the loans as just cause to ally with the Republic. Palpatine would still end up with the banks but Clovis would have been remembered more fondly than raising republic interest rates
I don’t think this one battle is as complicated as you made it out to be or as you called it, “5d chess”! Now, from the beginning to the end of how Palps took over, took control and then whipped out most of the Jedi, yes! That was extremely complexed (aka him playing 5d chess while all others were playing checkers)! It was very simple. If you want your enemies to take over something or be stationed somewhere act like you really want to do the same! Even if they can’t figure out why you want it, they won’t want to find out the hard way by whatever that trap is is around them on all sides!!! By the Jedi taking over something they are also giving it to their enemy! Brilliant!!!
The Clone Wars was completely avoidable. That’s the fundamental truth. But Sith will be Sith, and Darth Sidious wanted a war that would frighten the people into willingly giving him the absolute power that would allow him to rule the Galaxy. Assuming momentarily for argument’s sake that a civil war between the Republic and the Separatists was truly inevitable, Sith or no Sith, evidence was dotted throughout the duration of the war that diplomacy, ceasefire, stability and perhaps even peace, was far from impossible. The only true problem was that Sidious was in full control of how far in reach anything diplomatic was, and nobody could find out where he was pulling the strings, before he announces it outright, himself.
The banking clan look human enough that i think the warhammer imperium would take them in. During star wars vs warhammer theyre basically the richest faction in the star wars galaxy. Imagine that wealth brought to the imperium in the youtube series.
Four things. One, pretty sure you used that description in a previous video, not that I mind it's a good one. Two, you call the Battle of Scipio a 5D Chess move? Sure on paper it seems that way, but when you look at the actual battle the Separatists look incompetent. The invasion is solid enough, but then the moment Anakin and his forces arrive the fleet of CIS ships retreat like 5 minutes into the battle, how does no one find that suspicious? The banks are important to keep funding the war effort so why would the CIS give up so easily. I know Dooku was throwing the battle to give control of the banks to Palpatine, but he could have at least made it look believable that he was actually trying to win for the Separatists. Like sacrificing a few ships, maybe even a capital ship before retreating. The First Battle of Geonosis he lost on purpose, but at least that battle looked believable that the Separatists were actually trying, so much so many characters in-universe and even some of us fans out of universe fell for it. Three, if you're looking for other Battles to do videos on, how about one on the Battle of Devaron from Season 3, the first battle Savage participated in? Finally, four, so are you no longer doing the Comment of the Week at the end of you're videos, because it's been absent from the last few?
