  • I get some new parts from agrilineproducts.com and MJ Robinson Tractor breakers. All goes well until I take the flywheel off! 😢

    Appreciate you filming all this - definitely not boring. Just amazing how compatible Ford and New Holland kept their bits for decades.

      Oh definitely. You can see the evolution right up until what I think was around the year 2000 mark (I’m no expert on fords so someone may correct me)

      @@dirt_and_diesel Yep, and very gradual evolution at that. Everything changed around the millennium like you say (or maybe slightly before) with the merger with Fiat Agri I think.

    Our off-road diesel fuel is dyed red here in the States . Since it’s not burdened with highway use taxes they add dye to discourage anyone from using it for on-highway vehicles.

    As someone who drives Ford tractors I’m finding it very interesting.
    Might be a daft suggestion but could you unbolt the turbo from the manifold and turn it 180’ so the exhaust goes to the front.

    I'm enjoying this. If your keeping your back plate and flywheel then you'll want to keep your starter. I'd imagine you'll need to get hold of an 8 hole flywheel that is the right size, I don't know these particular engines but surely someone has the solution if it's been done before. I guess an engineering shop will have answers if it comes to filling and drilling. I put a new geared starter on a 2728t Ford dover, their great starters, very small and spin the engine much faster. Look forward to seeing it running 👍

      Someone else asked the same. It turned the engine over as expected on 12v so I think it is 12. I feel there may be gearing in it as the NH flywheel was a wider diameter. I may be talking crap though, I don’t know it for sure

    The original starter will easily start the 456 engine. Also a 6bolt crank was use on the naturally aspirated 456’s I think.also the excess oil line from the filter housing should be run to the existing oil cooler.

      @dirt_and_diesel  Год назад

      Timing mark in relation to what? I did drill it, that wasn’t the issue, the issue was I used the one slightly offset bolt hole as my datum without realising so I accidentally drilled offset. But yes I did drill it

    New to your channel the engine you have should tell you on the top of the rocker cover were the engine was made it should say built in basildon and the yellow starter is 24volt and the blue starter is 12volt which your tractor has a 12volt system. All the oil filters for the engine are made in America or elsewhere so I think you have a engine that is out of a uk combine.

    • @dirt_and_diesel

      I’d say probably heavy ground work somehow. The dash says 6k hours so I think they’ve been ground work PTO hours with its time in Greece. Plus it was covered in a fine soil in all the nooks and crannies so that would support it.

    • @dirt_and_diesel
      @dirt_and_diesel  2 года назад +1

      I don’t think so, I put a 12v battery on it when I first got the engine and it spun how it should. Just extra beef. I’m sure I read somewhere that there is some gearing in it which might make sense as the NH fly wheel was quite a bit wider so motor would need to spin faster. I don’t know, I’m running on guesswork at the moment. It will all become clear at some point soon
