Love the videos every man needs a man shed, doing up a 6610 at the minute, people don’t realise the amount of time that goes in, great to see it running well👍
Good to see it running👍I appreciate the time of year your doing this but think I would have tested for leaks with straight water and then drained it down. The new pipe work you made may cause an airlock and stop the coolant circulating properly, personally I would put a bleed point at the top end of the box section. Keep up the good work, ps if the alternator is suitable, by removing the three long screws holding the casings together and rotating the casings you can change what hand it is.
It’s purely the tiniest drip that builds up over time that the leak is. I tested the parts individually and it all held as expected. I had thought of popping a bleed screw in it but haven’t got to the refining jobs yet. The alternator doesn’t work in the other hand position, only this one. You might see in my next video that rotating the cap, the 4 screw holes don’t line up when the legs do unless in this position. Don’t know why they would make this rotate like any other alternator but not actually have a use on this model.
@@dirt_and_diesel has the radiator out as it was starting to weep so that needs in. Pick up hitch is away to get fixed but taking a while as well as the rear linkage which I think was fair to say, had been well used in its previous life 🤣🤦♂️
Well done sir nice seeing it progress 👍🏻 I'll have to look into one of those starters for my 8730 sound quick. 40 series newholland electric fuel pump would do the trick... I tried demon tweeting 😄 for comparisons in specs. Great job Stay safe 🏴
Very interesting project. Do you think the clutch and trans and rears will tolerate the new found horsepower? 270 is a bit much over the stock engine hp.
Honestly, it’ll hardly ever get used for anything and if it does, we only have equipment that’s suitable for no more than a 150hp tractor anyway. It’ll never get the power used through it
Alternator pulley ,was it a 7 Grove pulley . If so landrover defender discovery us those. I'm talking 94 to 98 model I'm in Australia and I bought one from a supplier
Do you run the engine oil through any cooler? , I’m putting a 7.5 genesis in my 8700 from a new holland 8340 basically a straight bolt in Just not sure if that engine needs needs running through an oil cooler on the radiator or not
Sorry I think I misunderstood your question the first time. The oil cooler ports that are in the bottom of the radiator didn’t get used, no as the water runs through a large oval oil cooler that’s on the side of the block before going into the block/pump etc so I didn’t feel the need to use the radiator based oil cooler. 40 series engine will be so much easier to put in. The oil feed and return ports should also still be in the same place should you want to use the radiator based oil cooler using the 8700 steel pipes. If it’s a non turbo engine then should definitely run cool enough I think.
Thanks for that info I’ve had to source a differnt radiator as mine was missing the radiator/air box panel and turns out it’s not that easy to get one here in Australia Its a turbo engine So I may have to run a seperate oil cooler perhaps something similar as the transmission/hydraulic cooler that’s on the front of them currently
One other possibility is to put a later NH oil cooler on (a bit like mine) which replaces your existing oil filter housing. The oil ports are the same so that is a bolt on job but the water will need to be plumbed through it. I’m not really an expert on it all but what did the original 8340 use for an oil cooler? Could try and replicate that?
Great to see the tractor start up tom. Just curious is there any reason you said that you won't be putting that top fuel tank on again? Is it a clearance issue with the bonnet fitting or is it just that you have sufficient fuel in the bottom tank? It's been a long wait but will definitely be worth it when she is out on the Field.
Thanks! With the big turbo and all the pipe work that goes with it, there’s no room for the top tank. She won’t be a long day grafter tractor so just the one tank will be enough for me
It’s how the proper Ford one is, it isn’t imbalanced as they cancel each other out. I assume it’s to help putting a new belt over it in the field but I don’t know for sure why 2 of the blades are offset
with the size of that turbo she needs a big straight pipe lad fair play keep up the good work
I finished the 4 inch pipe for it yesterday 😏
It’s a great feeling when you finally get an engine running. Congratulations
Yeah, big sigh of relief!
Sounds well Tom, well done!
Big milestone, well done and sounds sweet 👍
Brilliant stuff mate real progress!!! Plus a few more problems…..🙈
Great video well done
Nice to hear her running sounds sweet 🤙
Sure is

6610 nice little bus! Man shed is a must
Great job Tommy 👏 You are quite the engineers 😀
Quite the chancer
Fantastic job. I'm going to have a celebratory cider myself
Hah, save me some
Fantastic, well done!
Thank you! Cheers!

Great job bud i wish i had the time and place to do a project like you are doing. Keep it up.
Thanks Paul 👍🏻
Well done!
Thabks
And thanks 🥴
Fair play, not too many people would try that and stick at it👍🏻
Sticking at it has been the hard part 😝
She sounds well enough 😁. To be fair, you’ve done a lot more work on yours than I’ve managed with my trac over a longer time 😬🤦♂
What needs doing to her?

Highly recommend the starter. Strong and fast, it’s a big difference!

8 rib. I tried a few places and could only get 6 rib or 8 rib with either overrun bearing on which I don’t want
Did you have to plumb the ports up in the radiator for the oiler cooler?
Yeah exactly that. The ports are on the wrong side of the tractor which make it a bit of a pain too

The top tank is much bigger than the bottom one
There’s no where for it to go now. Lower tank will do fine
@@dirt_and_diesel I guess your not planning on running very long
I guess not
electric pump off a 60 series nh would do the trick ........
