Brilliant video. Really enjoyed the commentary as well. It’s good to hear a bit of context when watching these exhibition videos. The yellow vehicle in the shed on Fenwick TMD is a mobile maintenance train. I’ve worked on one a couple of times myself. Brilliant piece of kit!

Interesting video - thank you. 👍
In terms of the delightful Waddon Marsh layout and the polyblock gauging train, the Queen Marys were used as viewing platforms by RA&G staff.
Initially Lab 15 was used and when this wasn't available, we used Lab 1 (if I recall with a long pantograph well) coupled to a Mk3 sleeper coach borrowed from Hornsey.
There were multiple cameras mounted on the Mk3 coach and on both Queen Marys with video recorders in the Lab coach. Can recall a tight 'Down' platform at Riddlesdown dislodging one of the lateral cameras on the Mk3. One of the Queen Marys was the converted LBSCR Elevated Electrics Motor Coach.
The three rings of polystyrene blocks (and blocks underneath each stepboard) represented a composite maximum kinematic envelope for Networkers, 319, 455, Sprinters (etc) and the proposed Eurostar stock.
One interesting run was between Redhill and Guildford - two Queen Marys, Mk3 sleeper and Lab 1 behind a solo class 73 on diesel (with signalmen under strict instruction not to check the train) - a slow 20mph crawl up from Deepdene but we made it!
Then there was an irate station manager at Victoria who hadn't read his WON and only found out about our arrival when the Lab 1 generators and coal stoves in each of the Queen Marys set off the station fire alarms - such memories.

I did wonder what the train was I assumed from the shape around the park 3 it’s was for gauge testing, I remember someone at work saying something similar was carried out in the Heathrow tunnels for testing gauging clearances for the eursostar stock. Thanks for sharing a great story 👍

@@WesternSignalman The formation was hauled around much of the Southern as a quick means of locating the potential fouling points which would clip (sometimes knock off) the polystyrene.
Those locations were subsequently followed up with site inspections and gauging measurements - most were clear.
However, can recall the WR getting upset as their newly upgraded platform 3 at Reading (before heading down to Basingstoke) dislodged the polystyrene - it wasn't actually foul as the blocks were set for worst case at maximum line speed.
Remember, this was before RTC Derby had a reliable structure gauging train.

I actually managed to get to the DEMU show this year.
There were some brilliant items of rolling stock on show, not to mention the layouts themselves!
Apart from the loopy- tunes at Sutton Coldfield station on Sunday lunch time the show was well worth a visit.
    Great video👍
    Cheers John b 😎

Thank you putting together a super video and commentary, being on holiday means I had to miss out on a visit missing seeing many top class modelled layouts. A few which I hope to book in the future with a invite to the Stafford Exhibition Terry

Thank you for the video. As usual, going to the trouble of narrating the show adds a massive amount to the video and makes a potentially dry and very difficult to bother relating to series of images far more enjoyable.

@@WesternSignalman I always enjoy jour video's, you even made this dull modern stuff exiting🤣…
All jokes aside, I should have known with the title of the show "DEMU" that's it all about new stuff, but I was not familiar with this show and it's specific concept, mia culpa.
