Was able to do it with like 4 Overlords in the flank with amp core and parasitic ammo mods, thanks!
heck yea!
Immortal George does it again!
Cleared it easily with overlords on both flanks with just 2 techs (mothership + regen), with wasps in the front. To top it off and minimize chances that your tower gets picked off, 1 pack elite marksman wasps on the side of 1 tower, and keep this one levelled and alive. Used rank up and enhancement module to earn fast cash, and pushed whenever I need a bit more money to get another overlord on the field.
I've been trying to beat just hard survival mode (14 rounds) for a week now. I came here after being dusted at R13 by this long-ass row of fully upgraded, anti-air, level 9 arclights! A completely unrealistic army. Backed by some infantry and shields no less. As soon as any of my units come in range they're done- i had overlords and wasps too, some arclights as well, spread out at different locations.
So my thought was "am i really that bad? am i missing a game mechanic? lets see what other players make of it". The last thing i would have concluded to was that the game was just designed to be like this.
Survival has changed quite a bit since I did this video, its a heck of a lot harder than it was, my friend and I duo did insane IV with basically crawlers and overlords though.
You have to not get the late game archlight round or you lose. Still a lot of luck rolling enough overlords to.
I did find doing it with two people was a bit easier despite what I said early in the video. I used this same strat on insane duo and we cleared it fairly easily, but the main difference was the use of lots of chaff units. Fangs are kinda busted en masse for survival moreso than overlords.
Nano kit doesn’t stack with field repair??
Granted this was a few months ago and I haven't played in awhile, but back then at least it SET Regen to the amount. So you'd just be setting it twice and not increasing it.
Can you go tons of sledgehammers in a game. Like they carry. But no link Tech.
Actually a linked sledge in survival isn't bad as a tanky boy, just gotta make sure enemy lasers die and they will survive most enemy waves
I got dumped on as no boats for 3 rounds and then those level 9 at-ats that spam mass removal that absolutely killed everything. Hopefully ill be luckier next time.
If the ai had some kind of advantage and had to stick to a build and summon units like the rest of how this game works itd make more sense and be a more interesting challenge but this is busted.
Yea it can throw some massive BS at you. Sometimes luck just ain't there. They do plan on tweaking survival in the future though.
I kind of like it as is. I was initially getting massively frustrated, then I realized I still kept replaying it with whatever strategies I could get as the game progressed. Kind of became less a one time yay I played this mode to the end and more of a replayable roguelite challenge. Instead of trying to be able to consistently beat it, I found myself relaxing and enjoying how far I could get each time with different setups.
Sir, tell me how to get a consistent, every round, randomly picked pool of units. You got overlord every round lol that never happens for me
sacrifice crawlers to appease the mech gods.
Do you know that Nano Repair Kit stacks with Field Repair? I cringed a little when you didn't pick that and throw it on your strongest overlord. 9% health regen a sec. Becomes almost unkillable.
But you know what you are doing of course :)
That must be a newer patch change, at the time I did this nano and field did not stack, they simply changed health Regen to 4.5%
Fortresses do shoot up if they have the tech upgrade
I think I've ran 50 survival at the very minimum and never had the AI pick anti air on their forts. Could just be luck though, since the ai just picks from a random pool of setups each round
@@ImmortalGeorgeGaming the forts in your match did have it towards the later half. But the missiles are pretty drunk
Alright well. 13 tries and can't get past round 12. Any mode that so RNG based is BS. may as well play heads or tales
I dunno when but they do have ideas in mind for changing survival. Hope they come soon, I think I they are intending to add stuff like bosses
Kind of annoying that this works tbh.
Fortress fang summoning cheese also works on the Left flank but you need a Vulcan or two to back it up. You can use traditional comps for it, iirc my friend uses crawlers, steel balls, phoenix, mustang and only puts crawlers on the flank.
"Extremely Easy" No. Easy, yes, but extremely?
I've tried this exact comp so many times now. Every time I face 2 or 3 waves with a million fangs + 2 T4 melting points.
I've been trying for hours without success.
Despite this extremely cheesy strat, this gamemode is still incredibly luck reliant.
And that's without taking into account the luck required to GET overlords in the first place...
Edit : This strategy straight up DOES NOT WORK.
The timing of when you get repair, armor, mothership, and artillery is important.
If struggling with this strat try sticking to just 5 overlords and upgrading them to around level 5/6 and using crawlers with blitz in front of them
edit: forgot to mention - if you're picking expensive abilities early on then you're punting the match. +50 for the Skip is often a way better deal than almost all of the abilities. The main abilities you'd want are smoke, acid, extensive training, health 30% increase, overlord health increase. All other abilities are simply not worth their expensive cost for survival; except range and attack if doing different strategies. Nuke is a throw, ion is a throw, thunderstorm is garbage, vulcan drop is mediocre, overlord drop is mediocre. But remember almost never ever take the abilities early on. Its just not good for your economy.
I just duo'd a guy doing this strat and helped him beat very hard; a guy on reddit beat insane using this strat. A guy in this video's very comment section used it as well. Saying it does not work when the video itself shows it works is silly. Take a break from survival if its frustrating you. Games are meant to be fun.
@@ImmortalGeorgeGaming After trying dozens of different approaches I'm giving yours a go and I definitely see what DeMerde is saying, sometimes you don't get offered Overlords at all for like 5 straight rounds. The approach is easy to understand and apply but I don't think it's fair to say it's easy to win with this approach if it has something like a 10% success rate, all things considered.
Makes me wonder if some games are weighted to show some units more than others, based on starting comp. I rarely see forts and melting points for example.
@@ImmortalGeorgeGaming I noticed that the AI seems to adapt to whatever you're doing but only to some degree, I did manage to finish very hard with your strat (after 3 other tries, so 25% success rate on my small sample) but whenever i did other weird cheese attempts the AI would do stuff like place stormcallers right on the edge of deployment, which they NEVER do if you play normally. I didn't take the time to actually figure out the way the AI works but so far I'd definitely support the hypothesis that they adapt, in some form, to your board.
Nah they don't at all. Did insane using cheese and the amount of no* AA they had was very high
