Someone should make some AI generated battle music for the background with Udio
Mechabellum streams have been some of my absolute favorite Day9 content, I'm really glad he's gone back to it for the updates
My brother-in-law has been recommending Mechabellum to me for a while now. Seeing you this excited about it has convinced me to pick it up!
I wonder if the double-barrelled Sabertooth tank is a reference to the double-barreled GDI Mammoth tank
Ayyy good catch. I miss that chunky bastard
It absolutely is.
Scorps are *hilariously* OP. They basically make any other ground unit their bitch.
They shouldn't be good against swarms, and then also good against giants, while having massive range...
@@kamikeserpentail3778 They have slow reload, so I think Balls would work well. And you always have air. Maybe Fangs with shield and rage could counter them too.
I watch a high MMR player (Rat) and the same changes you like, Sean, they hate. As you mentioned the game was previously so sharply designed and the added randomness of new units means that high level players don’t commit to any one particular build - because it’s sometimes randomly punished by the free units. It also makes some of the starting packages into high loss percentages. Starting without chaffe in your opener is “unplayable”.
At the same time; I agree with you. The variance that makes 18-2200 MMR play very safe and stale makes the average MMR games wild and much more interesting to play. I especially like the free for all mode they just introduced - as all I really wanna do is make wacky comps.
I've hated for a while that you start with 5 sets of units and usually build 2 more
That's 7 full sets of units you drop turn 1, basically blindly.
With XP in the game that can immediately set one person at an advantage.
I know it's basically always been this way, but I think it should be lower.
That might also reduce the impact of not getting chaff as a starting unit, because the 2 you buy would play a larger percent of your opening.
I also don't particularly care for the unit cards, they feel so random.
Without real variance, auto battlers slowly die.
You had me screaming in your match against salt monkey: FLYING UNITS, SCORPIONS CANT SHOOT UP, MAKE OVERLORDS
Not only that match by the way
Yeah...phoenixes would hard counter them since they have long range and high single target damage
Another game bought after watching Day9 play for 5 minutes
I love how shaun hates building flying units that would solve his problems...
Either I don't understand this game at all, or I just watched someone say "Well, these phoenix's are a problem" 11 rounds in a row and then never address his ability to shoot up?
This is just typical day9 gameplay. Make an observation and then like a puppy, Get distracted by something else and not address it
If you've watched StarCraft, it's like having siege tanks parked outside your base, knowing they are a problem, but being unable to deal with it because your opponent has a ton of Marines also.
In this game you try to force your opponent to need to respond to a threat, while using that superior position and knowledge to ensure they can't.
@@CloudianMHthis, but i love every second of it
@@kamikeserpentail3778P2 is a brilliant explanation of game theory. I’m quoting this from now in every situation I can 🫡
@@kamikeserpentail3778 Overlords, Wraiths, Snipers, Mustangs, Wasps, even upgraded Fangs. But he never tries any of these counters. It was like he never had a plan.
So much fun watching Shaun reacting to the wackiness of Free Four All and the rare units too.
Just an FYI in case no one said it yet, apparently hackers are quazi op/broken because they can hack the OP ai units as well. Edit: or so I've been told by comments in the other 4v4 videos I've watched
So happy you're in to this game! It's such a fun strategy game and can't wait to see this game grow and get some proper tournament support etc.
oh dude I love mechabellum, this new mode is a great shot in the arm
If day9 happens to see this, I like to use steelballs with diffusion and/or fangs with shields to tank scorpions, then something with high damage to kill it
This game brings me functionally endless joy
Nice to see you back at the mech game! Although, a whole lot of "I'm goin to build scorpions for the rest of the game" and a whole lot less of "actually building and teching scorpions". #angryface #demandapropergameofalotofbigboomboomscorps
i would love some funday monday to be made for this game.
So this seems like auto-chess with an objective with rogue-lite altering choices from round to round.
Looks interesting.
Im baffled why he doesn´t have missile interception on his mustangs...
Day9 complains about scorpions being OP, then turns down the upgraded scorpion card. If you think a unit is OP, then use it yourself to see how other people counter it.
Mass production is Day9s Kryptonite Crack. I wonder if he ever figured out it’s why his units he think suck perform the way they do.
It's been like 6 or so years since I watched Day[9] on the regular. And god dammit did I miss Sean Plott.
I didn't realize this is an auto battler. Reminds me of Scorched Earth *WAY* back in the day.
1:36:15 fortress shields or overlords would have helped a lot I think
Would love to see Day9 play the brood war mod for sc2!
I was excited to try this game out after the first 30 mins or so..... now kinda not sure if I want to ever buy it with the existence of hackers XD
Love watching you play this game!
These new units look awesome
Hey paradox I'd love to compose you some music that doesn't get copy striked. Such a shame RUclipsrs have to play in silence. Hit me up.
U r a smart and handsome man.
Try Elite marksmen Fortress with Fang production in FFA, it's hilariously good and a lot of fun. Seeing these Colossal mechs marching with a horde of tiny infantry units swarming around them is peak Mechabellum. The produced units will have any upgrades you buy for the static unit. I'd recommend range and shield at least for the fangs.
*horde
Thanks!
NO, thank YOU!
Sending fortresses against hackers without range upgrade is just asking to get noobstomped
i hope you continue to play this on your channel! love this game
oh man day9's joy in this series is so infectious
1:15:00 Watching you on round 7 and you still have no single target snipers - Marksmen or Pheonix. I have basically been screaming at my screen every round at this point. Also, sorry to say that the rhino rush counter is Melting point. So .. perhaps not the best choice? If you insist on it, put a pack of crawlers in front of the poor guy so the melty locks on to them instead?
You'll need a second crawler pack 3 units ahead and to the side to bait any sentry missiles off the crawler of course.
Also, when a play doesn't work? Sell it. Use the money to try something else!
1:17:40 Sledge + Marksmen let you climb? Yeah, like many combos that one got countered hard by scorps. Good luck!
1:28:30 When the enemy has only air units left at the end and you have a fortress? Get those anti-air missiles next time. Also, why is your opponent not building another 3 scorpions? They would have annihilated you with them.
1:34:30 - EMP on your stormcallers would have nerfed the hell out of the enemy vulcan and hackers. Also it would have been a lot cheaper to click the shield bubble tech on the fortress (300) rather than using 100 for every shield every round. Also mustang production? Oh no!
Great to see you play this again!
Picked it up about a month a go and been hooked ever since.
Its a fun game but i always had trouble getting a grasp of the strategy.
It takes a lot of time to get the different unit interactions and positioning down. Sometimes it can be really hard when the enemy has a unit that is getting so much XP and levels.
This is the best
never heard of this game.
I don't like the random unit card as it takes away control from the player over what unit composition to use.
More people watched this video than have ever played this game
it really is interesting to watch someone enjoy a strategy game when they struggle with it and concepts of strategy on such a fundamental level.
Meanie
well all strategy gamers are idiots lol... thats why they need turn based games, brain too slow
Game looking good. But I feel a bit of political message in the starting class, so I pass.
If you pick assault fang the game should just alt f4 for you.
day9 loses every game, yet has 1200mmr. So stupid. 75% winrate and have played for years now and am not that high. Literally broken ranking system
Hello viewer of this video. Welcome to "bro just buy more marksmen" simulator.
or phoenix....
There are usually other answers.
turn back on the great music 😭
Copyright strikes you
Sir Sean! If you aren’t aware (but how could you not be?): StarCraft 2: Mass Recall may strike your fancy!
Sorry(ish) for barging into the comments of an unrelated video, but it was the most-recent video and the news was so exciting to deliver!
Why is Shawn bald?
Time my friend. Time comes for us all.
@@Mikeraff0ne Sean is only 3 years older than I am and I've lost virtually no hair yet. It's most definitely a higher rate of baldness than average.
@@kingofbudokaicould be genetics.
It's crazy how much of a difference that makes.
tried, refunded. still miss the old wc3 map called castle fight
ok
It was remade in Dota2 if you want some nestolgia
why?
looks like you just need another game
