    Good idea on the 5 core cable across to the HU. Pillar pod is keeping the interior tidy and uncluttered. And to the untrained eye, that is the correct way to use thread tape 👍 have watched people do it wrong and struggle. Keep it up!

    Just another little wiring hack. If your using multi-core wire and you need to solder/connect the wires near the same spot try to stagger the cuts so that when you wrap or sheath over the connections the wire loom is as thin as possible plus it looks much neater. Dude great video's and I'm just about to sell my current car and pickup a GU to start some long outback tours.

    Gotta go the redarc when on special, you get 3 gauges in one. I run a boost, pyro and trans temp in one, then engine oil pressure, coolant temp and engine oil temp in another, then dual battery voltage and alternator amp in the last one. Neat, quality and every thing viewable at a glance, can also set up alarms. Not to mention it all looks shmicko. Also running a dimmer

    I know the pain of that air-con line. The ST-L has rear air-con which Nissan made a PITA Y pice pipe which as stated, sandwitched between chassis and body. If you undo whole pipe and get creative (slight bending), you can get it out whole. Welding needs a lot of filler around the known cracking point. When you have done it, wrap it in foild tape or other heat proofing to stop the zorst cooking the lines.
    Standard Snail is not designed to go to 30 PSI dude, not even close.
    Para-cord grab handle between top stock screw hole and use the blanked hole further up for the LH drive top handle.

    Hey man love the videos, personally I would put a resi on the exhaust. Turbo spool sounds good but the thong slap up in the high rev range gets annoying and may be bit noisy for your young fella if trying to sleep in the car.
    As for the gauges yea they look sick but the quality isn’t there, my mate has same brand and his egt shit the bed after 3 months and the boost is inaccurate. I personally spent a bit more on Autometre Cobalt series gauges and they are great, accurate and built well. May not have the colour choice but I like the blue back light that comes standard and just have a dimmer to adjust brightness.

    Man oh man, I'm following you closely as you're doing the things I wish to do, except I got a 2¾" Beaudesert exhaust from new, well drove from Bathurst to Beaudesert first on original exhaust.
    Primarily I noticed the turbo lag greatly improved, it pulled so much better low down.
    Curious, did you refit that infernal heat guard over the turbo or bin it?
    I've had mine off & refitted, it's a shit of a thing to work with.
    My son fitted a 3" exhaust on his Patrol and binned the guard.
    Appreciate the guidance on picking up all power requirements from areas of head unit, honesty never thought of it, uh.
    I reckon you'll find the exhaust note a tad annoying on hwy runs.
    I'd fit a resinator.
    Keep up the guidance, thanks.
    Oh, I now know to avoid damage to aircon line, that was really unfortunate, that shit of a guard.
    Update:
    Well it's now December and I have installed a Redarc G52-BET with SAAS 36mm radiator hose sensor block as you show in this clip.
    Truly alarmed by my EGT's easily reached 600°c and occasionally 700°c, not good, water temps hitting 110°c. Too radical for my liking.
    I have just had a cross country intercooler with fan installed and a tune done, significantly reduced my EGT's, now reaching 450°c where it went to 600°c previously.
    My torque has increased 67% and power 50.5%.
    Owned my Patrol from new, it is a significantly better vehicle to drive now, and not the worry it was with EGT so easily climbing into the danger zone.
    Would I consider a 4JJ1 conversation as you have elected to do?
    Only if or when my ZD30 shits itself and I'm confident that won't happen now I've got temps under control, so my answer is no, remaining a true Patrol at the moment.

    • @RoamLyfe
      @RoamLyfe  2 года назад

      Hey mate the guard is now in the bin hahahah!

In the pan or cooler return shows oil after its been cooled and is nearly useless. Trans is toasted before that oil shows hot. Rocket Rod has a fitting kit for these....

      @@RoamLyfe I had the hotdog version of this kit, lasted about a week before I ordered the muffler. Drone was particularly bad around 2100rpm, which is unfortunately about where it cruises on the highway. At least with 33s and an auto box.

    • @Swwa89
      @Swwa89 2 года назад

      I got a straight through 3 inch manta on mine with a hotdog and it's not overly droney or loud at low rpm. It is manual though and running 21psi boost so it's not exactly quiet

    • @kerkofski
      @kerkofski 2 года назад

      Maybe it's the auto and stock tune, or I'm just getting old!
      The sound was fine everywhere except that 2000-2200 rpm mark, which is pretty much where it likes to sit on the highway.
      I've thought about trying a quarter wave resonator, because I do miss the exterior sound. But it still sounds better than stock with just the single muffler. Plus the benefits of 3" on EGT etc.
