  • In this video I explain the importance of learning to shift from our mind to our body in order to recover from Neuroplastic Pain or Mind-Body concerns. I also go through a shifting from our mind to our body meditation.
    I hope it helps!

    I like this body/mind shift. I also like the concept of pendulation, where you switch from noticing something that doesn’t feel particularly wonderful in your body to an area, preferably on the opposite side of the body, that feels good or neutral. Then, slowly go back-and-forth between these two areas.

      Yes, I find pendulation really helpful too, NIcole. Also doing Chi Gong, especially the body tapping or stroking also gets me back into my body. Tanner's done a Chi Gong video too!

    Thank you Tanner for another incredible delivery. Mindfulness is critical in recovery, as you wisely mention. Did you know we have a daily average of 60 to 70 thousand thought per day? You just nailed it, again, observing them leads not only to recovery, but to growth. Best wishes!

    Tanner, what if the pain is so widespread that it's hard to be in the body. I have been doing soothing and calming and being less in my head but days like today the pain is so intense it's hard to be in my body. Can you help me with a major dilemma a. I wake with intense adrenal surges everynight that make the pain worse and my sleep is really poor and I don't know the way through this as this has been going on for so long I am I am in more and more pain. I really like listening to everything you say because it's the way through but I have been living with this myofascial pain for so many years I am exhausted. Thank you so much for your RUclips sessions. I'm incredibly grateful

      Sorry to hear about your pain. In PRT it is important to follow the process. So if the pain is too intense we don't want to shift into our body. However, if the pain is mild to moderate we can practice somatic tracking and being in our body. The goal in PRT is safety, so we need to ensure we can feel safe or work towards feeling safe in our body while doing this.

    Thanks Tanner!
    I have a question as I am only learning about this from two weeks and still new to it so trying to find my grounding in the approach to recover from long covid. Your insight would be worth sooo much to me!
    If I have symptoms in different parts of my body, how am I supposed to focus on them during somatic tracking? Like which one to focus on or how to focus in a way that all get addressed while a somatic tracking practice?

    • @painpsychotherapy
      @painpsychotherapy  Год назад

      Good question. There are a few options with multiple symptoms while doing somatic tracking. For myself, I would skip around to different areas during a tracking and make it informal. However, some people tend to focus on one symptom per tracking. Remember it is all about the attitude! I hope this helps.
