Peter Levine, whom you've quoted before, surprised me when he said car accidents are traumatic - and I've had 13 of them. It makes perfect sense - when a huge metal monster comes at you rapidly and hits your car, you have no idea how bad the accident is going to be - or if you'll survive whole, or at all. We are taught to hold things in, to walk away and say, "I'm okay" instead of shaking off the trauma the way animals do. Excellent point, that chronic pain and the way we are treated in the medical community can cause trauma (as can benzo withdrawal). The Chi Gong you've taught also helps to move the trauma through and out of your body - as does shaking and dancing. Another great video, Tanner, thank you!

The LCTT sounds like me. Although my pain was at least initially caused by injury. But I’ve been and continue to be guilty of all the four things here. Prodding. Poking. Moving and looking for it. When it’s there it convinces me it’s still damaged. When it’s not I look until I find it. The touching I’ve managed to manage this last week much better. It’s the thinking I can’t control. 80-90% of the day it’s there in my head.

Then I may have a new symptom, example reaction to something I eat. While im having the new symptoms, the reax to food, the upper back pains disappears. Then back pain comes back when the food reax symptoms go, like a couple of hours later. Thanks heaps ps ive had my back checked out, nothing structural wrong.

I struggle with pelvic pain (IC/pelvic floor diagnosis) I've been in Dan Buglio's coaching group, so I know about this stuff. I just can't seem to break the cycle of checking and feeling the pain. It's so personal and in your face with symptoms. I struggle with teaching safety in a flare. The balance of feeling vs catastrophic thinking. I know I've made progress, but flares kick my ass. I also struggle too with knowing if stretching/PT is a fixing vs healing activity. I'm not in terror anymore like I used to be, but I am definitely still frustrated

Love this Tanner! But for those of us with sensations of exhaustion from "CFS/ME," 15 minutes is a little too long - I always fall asleep. (Thankfully you have others that are only 10 minutes.) I wonder - I took a yoga and mindfulness course from a TERRIBLE doctor with no real training in yoga. She never once walked around to see if we were doing the postures correctly. My physio later shrieked when I showed her the posture that caused an injury - "Stop doing that right now! You're putting terrible stress on your pelvis and wrecking your sacroiliac - Uh Oh." Specialists later confirmed that. The injury didn't heal I now known due to inescapable stresses at the time. Might THAT what is making my Crocodile brain give me sleepy sensations? It associates mindfulness with the injury? (Did the same with yoga once, but I learned to ignore that - but it's hard to ignore passing out cold!) That would make a huge amount of sense.

It’s something I have to do so I’m constantly being exposed… not avoiding… but my body has definitely associated work with amplifying pain. I guess at that point it’s more about talking and convincing my brain and body. That work is safe… while im there?

Hi Tanner, I had a one-to-one session with another SE therapist and he encouraged me to not regulate consciously when I felt dysregulation (just while doing SE). An example would be not swallowing ( i seem to do that a lot when activated ) or not taking a deeper breath when it felt short/ constricted.. he said just sit with that and let that come up and observe it but it seems to be contracting the self soothing of this and some other SE meditations.. thoughts? Thanks so much for the meditation anyway I’m doing it most days and it’s very helpful. ❤
